Oldhammer Goblin Miniatures with Earth dawn (last few hours)

Recommended Posts

Who is casting these? Those elves look cool, but I have a feeling I know the answer.

Ironically, no need for any more goblins because I was all-in for the various GoblinAid minis. So. Many. Goblins.

edit: oh, it's an Impact project, looks like my feeling was correct. No, thanks.

I have not been following the impact ks's although I have seen they have had several, What makes impact a "no, thanks" for you?

It seems to work well for them with their chibi stuff, and I don't have any direct experience with Impact minis and don't mean to impugne their name. I was indeed just referring to the caster, who has had issues in the past with a few other KS projects I've backed. I'd thought they'd solved their issues but once again they're back to pushing bad product out the door.

Since they seem to have a long working relationship with Impact, it is what it is, but people should be aware that not everyone has been happy with the casting or material. For the current round of complaints, head over to the Raging Heroes TGG2 thread, no need to reiterate it here beyond bringing up the concerns.

This is the answer I got: "I'll make you a promise. If you don't like the minis ... you can return them and I'll refund you for your entire pledge and shipping. I'm that confident in the minis I'll be producing."

That's why I wanted to be clear I wasn't talking about Impact. Seems like a great company and it's good to see them stand behind their product.

second answer: "II looked through your list of backed projects and as far as I am aware my caster did not work on any of them using the current resin formula and mold release that is now being used for all the minis."

and my reply: "But that means he did work for at least one of the Kickstarters I backed. Ok, I will soon receive another batch from that Kickstarter and will be able to see for myself if the new formula and mold release work better."

Oh. But formula and mold release (conveniently) changed in January.

Here is a post from on of the company's former Kickstarters and that's exactly the problem I had with miniatures form that casting company, too:

"The dark grey resin you have used is definitely more brittle. When clipping areas of the models I have parts of the model break off. This does not happen with any other resin models I have worked with."

But that was before the change of resin formula and mold release ...

Well. I don't have a big cash flow to just throw my money around... and my cash flow administrator (my wife) is not very understanding... but this is a low risk amount. $40.00. and the cost per mini is really good. I think I will stay in and see what's what. The fact that they are one piece eases my apprehension from the stuff I have gotten with Raging heroes... (I have 3 assembled, with almost all of the "freebies" still in a tackle box...).

I understand your reservations.   Due to the Raging Heroes issues ... they went back to the drawing board to rework the entire process.   I just received in new miniatures in the product and I'll really happy with it.   It is a noted improvement on past materials I have received.   I also received in test castings of some of the Heartbreaker minis to make sure they would be okay and they look great ... I'm not having issues with breakage for them and the resin no longer appears to be paint resistant.    So its not blind faith I'm saying I stand behind it ... I've seen the product and am willing to endorse it.

CashWiley ... I'm know you are not a fan ... but I'd also like to try to do what I can to make it so you can see the improvements ... because of course as a small company ... reputation is everything ... so your comments for my projects are something I'm more than happy to try and address for future projects.   If you are willing to message me here with your address.  I'll gladly send you a couple of the newest figures I've received with the newest resin and mold release formulas for you to see first hand ... free.   As a company its important to me that peoples reaction not be "I would not go there" to my products and projects.  ;-)   So I would gladly like to send you a few figures to review that I have not washed or done anything more to than remove from the mold sprue for you to review if you are willing.

Knight of the Dinner Table and Smokestack ... if you think the figures were a bad investment ... I do stand behind my promise to you to allow you to return them for a full refund.   And yes I do understand that Knight of the Dinner Table is in Germany ... I'll still stand behind that promise including any import duties he has to pay if there are any if he is unhappy and wants to return the figures.   There is no risk.

And Knight of the Dinner Table ... I did want to answer this :

"Oh. But formula and mold release (conveniently) changed in January."

I can explain this to make it clear there is no conveniently in this situation.  The company was asked to completely revise everything based the concerns with TGG2 as talked about by CashWiley above.   They took this request very seriously and immediately began working with different chemical companies to come up with the new solution ... that process was completed in January of this year.    I believe in shooting straight ... so you have my word that I'm not going to adjust the truth in order to make my products and KickStarter look better.

I've had the license and masters in hand for the Heartbreaker range since June 29, 2014.   I did not seek to bring them back to market because I didn't think the spincast resin was in a place that I felt the figures would be of a nature that I would be happy with as a product for me.   With all the recent changes, I was encouraged and tested it and based on that testing felt it was okay to now pursue this.   If I was willing to just try to make a buck ... I would have not sat on these masters by some of the best Oldhammer sculptors for almost 3 years.    I want these to be great figures you are happy to own and I've waited to bring them out until I thought the materials would work with the masters to make a great product.

So thank you both for backing ... I am working to make sure you are glad you did.
