Somewhere off in the mist comes the sound of creaking timber and leather, accompanied by a low wind and the first traces of a stink of dessication and decay. As the wind buffets the fog into damp shreds, shambling figures begin to appear in the middle distance - some as big as a man, some of them much larger, hulking forms.

The shuffling becomes a rhythmic marching as ancient tendons and rotting muscles keep time and hurry the dead towards you through the swamp. Behind the giant humanoid forms now appears something still bigger, fouler, and more ancient - an armoured rider slumped in the saddle of the huge, decaying wyrm as its ragged head seeks to feed on the flesh before it...

Fenris Games have been producing scenery and miniatures for tabletop gaming for 9 years now as well as working with other creators on renowned projects such as Cthulhu Wars. We're a two-man band of professional modelmakers with 30+years background in industrial, museum, architectural, film & TV work who now focus those skills on models for your wargames and RPGs, and we work with a huge pool of freelance sculptors to create the kind of models we use for our own tabletop.

We're creating a small range of heroic scale (28mm) white metal and resin undead miniatures for your dark-age armies - including a huge zombie dragon centrepiece model. Kickstarter will allow us to make production moulds for all of these models and will ultimately lead to a widening range of minis and scenery to suit these settings. Sculptors Jo Brumby and Tim Prow (lead sculptors on Cthulhu Wars) have already sculpted all of the models included in the basic pledges - and will add more all-new sculpts if we hit our stretch goals.

About this project

Somewhere off in the mist comes the sound of creaking timber and leather, accompanied by a low wind and the first traces of a stink of dessication and decay. As the wind buffets the fog into damp shreds, shambling figures begin to appear in the middle distance - some as big as a man, some of them much larger, hulking forms.

Please note: None of the pledge levels include shipping - this is to allow you to customise your reward choices with a range of other pieces, and to keep postage costs as low as possible for backers both in the UK and overseas.

Update #3 - They Have a Cave Troll

Quick update in response to questions here and elsewhere on forums: troll pics.

Jo's original greens are a particularly dark mix of green/brown putty that doesn't photograph well, but I've done my best here to tweak the contrast and show you more of the detail on the three of them. If I get chance in the current casting schedule I'll try and get resin copies in a more photogenic material for a future update.

Trolls - master sculpts Trolls - master sculpts

Meanwhile - I'm trying to decide whether to have an early reveal of some of the hidden, new add-ons. Do we push now for the earliest stretch goal, or save everything for a shove at the end? Long story short, there's more infantry (with a celtic flavour, but still of a dark ages vibe) and a character or two, as well as some unseen scenery pieces. But you wouldn't want to see any of them, would you ?

Update #4 - Kiss My Axe

Posted by FenrisGames (Creator)

Hey Deadites, welcome to Thursday's update !

I've just sneaked a new add-on to the main campaign scroll, with WIP pictures of another genuine Oldhammer sculptor's work - say hi to Chaz Elliott, alumni of industry giants such as Games Workshop and Wizards of the Coast as well as smaller fry like Fenris and Diehard ;)

Chaz is working on a set of six more draugr infantry with something of a celtic vibe about them - to represent hero and command models.

Grab these with any pledge for an extra £22 - or take them as part of your NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD pledge for no extra cost.

Keep sharing the campaign wherever your digital footprints take you - I'd love to get these stretch goals unlocked :)

Update #8 - Stretch Ghouls

Morning all, let's join (rotting) hands together for the final push.... I'd like to believe we can still hit at least one of the stretch goals, and maybe, just maybe, unlock that Grendel model. Throughout the campaign the famed marsh-demon seems to have been the most popular wishlist item and in retrospect perhaps should've been the first, rather than second stretch goal.

So, to try and realise those hopes and to counter some of the painfully felt dropped pledges this week, I'm moving the stretch targets. We're currently only around £750 away from the first Stretch total, so I'm dropping the ALL YOUR BASE target and moving the other three goals up one place apiece. In other words, we now need to hit £7.5k for the Grendel unlock, £10k for the HEAVY CAVALRY, and £12.5k for the BAREBACK WYRM.

I appreciate that the mid-month timing of this campaign has also been an issue for some, but please bear in mind that backers at any level will be able to add items post-KS through backerkit - up to and including the dragon kit.

Last piece of news for this Update - I've also added WIP pics of the remaining three TOTEMS to the relevant section of the campaign scroll; pics reproduced below for reference. All of these are based on 25mm discs that work as standalone pieces or will fit most 30mm slottas if you prefer your objectives to have a visible plinth or edge. They range in height from 25 to 32mm. Hope these help persuade a few of you to bump us closer to Grendel !

Hold on tight, let's see if we can drag these shambling corpses out of Duck Marsh !
