Moderator Chaoswolf Posted March 8, 2017 Moderator Share Posted March 8, 2017 A quick question for anyone that may know the answer: When I 'follow' someone, where/how do the notification show up? Is it the bell icon at the top of the forums where 'like' notifications show up? Do they get emailed to you? Something else? Thanks

Thanks If you set up your notification settings (the lower half of that screen), you can select if you want notifications "on" for various things. You can set up regular notifications that are in the forum, and you can choose to have them emailed to you. You get to decide to see regular notifications, or emails, or neither, or both for each type of notification that has an option. Very cool feature IMO.
Kheprera
Is there any possibly way to add a "Back to Top" link at the bottom of the pages? I tend to use the Unread link on my mobile and scrolling all the way back up to click it gets old.
ttuckerman
I still miss that you do not see only the posts since last visit. Now you have to remember how long ago you last looked. But it probably is not an option.

kristof65
When I first showed up and saw the changes a couple days ago, I was missing a LOT of features, and was very annoyed. But taking the time to read this thread was worth it - the things I missed the most, like unread posts in a thread, were explained here by someone. Thank you all.

(...on mobile devices sequential multi-quotes perhaps have advantages over nested multi-quotes...) 1 hour ago, Reaperbryan said: This is not an option i can find in the menus I have. the best option now is to use the left arrow at the bottom of posts to go back to the directory. Here is a thought: —click on the "34 of 34" button at the middle bottom of the final post. —type in 33. —result: top of thread previous page. —click next, result: top of final page. It is a bit surprising that "<<" does not go to first post, first page. However ">>" goes last page in thread. Starting on the final page of a thread: "Prev" followed by ">>" has the result of arriving at the top of the last page in the thread. The "Prev" followed by "Next" sequence works also. redambrosia
I'd just like to say a big Thank You to Bryan and all the other moderators. The new website is really nice and easy to use (after some user error ). I appreciate all your hard work and the fiddely little details you're obviously having to deal with.
Pegazus
Is there a way to make it an option to hide/show the long descriptions of each forum section? At least on mobile. What used to be 2-3 swipes up and down is now 10.

Pegazus
And solely because the thought occurred to me that I could, an illustrative image, aka screenshot from the phone, showing what I see. Cool thing is that it was not loaded up on a hosting website, so that's a cool feature.

D Are you talking about the one that pops up in the top left corner of the screen? If so, it should have a drop down selection that has "Always block notifications." Choose that one. It's a browser setting, not a forum setting.
Godfather Punk
I have a question about the followed-content page layout. (and I checked all 34 pages of this thread). In the previous forum I had a list of all threads I followed, with up to 25(?) lines per page. In the new version I have a list of each and every new post in the threads I follow. If there's a busy thread this means I have to scroll through several screens to get to, for example, the 2nd thread on my followed list. Pegazus
Just an interesting observation, but on my mobile (iPhone se), typing two returns in the reply box doesn't seem to register as needing a period and then a starting capital letter. Normally, with a double return during typing, it understands a new sentence is starting. I don't think it's a forum bug, per se, but it is an interesting dynamic. Was curious if anyone knew the technical details?
