14390 Anubis Guard

Recommended Posts

This one puzzled me for quite a while, then annoyed me for even longer.

Gray fur almost worked, then not at all.

I tried steel colours, then bronze, and even to make the sword look like some sort of black glassy rock... It just screamed NO at me.

So I gave it another bath in the Pit of Regret, washed it off and gave it a coat of gray primer, then sat down and studied it....

Yeah, it had to be done like this.

I still have a bit of a problem with getting good pictures, but...

The colours is MSP Shadowed Stone as base and MSP Weathered stone drybrushed on top.

The Gold is Dwarven Gold, and the blue on the headdress is Oceanic Blue, with more Weathered Stone drybrushed over to 'age' it a bit.

The eyes and the jewels in the swordhilt is Tamiya Clear Red.

It was given a coat of matte varnish, but it's still a bit too shiny, I think.

I think it should fit well at the entrance of a tomb or something.

Yeah, I could have tried with some Desert Sand colours, but... I need to experiment a bit with those colours first, and I wanted to finish that mini right then.

The Rock colours I've messed with before so I knew I could get them to work.

If I get another one I probably will go that way.

(It's already on the 'wanted' list in the spreadsheet I use for inventory control, with a comment on what I want to do with it)

Here is a Vulture Demon that I have used my newest Iwata airbrush on. I am very pleased with how he came out. He is on a 50mm base and is made of metal from Reaper. I had to bent the wings into an interesting pose, but I like where this guy ended up. :)

Another mini which has been done for a while: a raptor.  This was meant for a module that uses a raptor hatchling as an animal companion for a kobold Ranger.

Here is a link to the WIP.

Been working on a new game for dungeon crawling, and have settled with predominantly Reaper miniatures for my personal use (and for use in game component imagery, etc.).  Second post here, so apologies if I fumble the image stuff a few times.

Presenting Amiri, she's an Iconic Barbarian from Reapers Pathfinder line.

Had this one a little while, but all the fiddly bits kept putting me off (and I normally like fiddly minis), she turned out to be super fun to paint though.

As always any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

So I finished this miniature. Video will be uploaded once I edit it.

This isn't finished yet but I wanted to go ahead and get the post up on here. This is the Crimson Herald, a Reaper Bones Black figure.

I didn't have a color scheme going into this big bad boy.  Sadly the photos REALLY don't do it justice and I do have a video I am getting ready to post to youtube.

      This whole thing was like a Bob Ross Saved it moment for me. I grabbed paint throwing all caution to the wind and was like "ITTTTSSSSS FIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNEEEEEE" {its fine}
      Spoiler. It wasn't fine.

So I painted the body With Citadel Hex Wraith Flame. The entire time after i was just like "oh god... what have i done! its a lime green wraith thing...."

Luckily I had a bottle of Citadel Technical paint "Soulstone Blue" which weirdly enough I realized "i used technical paint... which doesn't dry normally very thick... and my solution is to use MORE paint that doesn't dry thick to make a thick paint? am i mad?!" Answer yes, but the photographs show im not without some merit to my madness.
