Starting this one up as it now has my attention due to a contest on bookfarce by the 'eavier metal facebook group. This is Distracted by Kingdom Death, she's a 54mm 1st run collector's edition resin miniature that I couldn't pass up a while back when she was released for a very limited time.

This figure is completely nude so she is definitely NSFW and I'll make sure to link any pics that would violate forum rules.

Let's start off with the pic I can show!

As I go along, I would like very honest and forthright comments and critiques to push me as she will be a contest entry and I may bring her to ReaperCon as well!

I am not a fan of most of the Kingdom Death girls, but I happen to love this one!

She's a beautiful sculpt and not overtly sexual. Much more artistic in my opinion.

My distracted remains safely in her box.

Given it is for a contest, I look forward to the novel you will fill the pages with.  ::D:  Seriously though, you have some areas for freehand.

Yeah, going to do some stuff in the book and I'm thinking of leaving the back off the seat to make it a stool and allow for some more freehand on her back.

Going to experiment with sheer stockings and tats for her.

I like her because she doesn't have as much of the overly exaggerated features. It's like she was bathing or sleeping and thought of something and had to look it up in her books RIGHT NOW! No time to get dressed, need to find it before the thought fades away. And you are right, she is feminine without being overtly sexual. She is a really pretty figure and I liked her from the first time I saw her. I do like some of the Kingdom Death stuff but I think this one is my favorite. Can't wait to see what you do with her!

Given the choice, that's what I wear while relaxing with a glass of wine and a good book.  She is rather modest and proportional for KD.  I like that there's a strong story to be told with her surroundings.  Looking forward to seeing her.

Looking at the body...is that her navel or is there a big gap in her belly?

I like her proportions, not over exaggerated.

Those books are indeed screaming for some nice drawings, maybe a "monk" type first letter.

She could have tattoos or body art...there is a lot going on there.

it's a slot for the book tab- she'll have a book in her lap!

Willing to help! Carry on!

For the tattoos, etc, get most of the shading done on her skin, then add them, then finish up with layers over top- that should help make the markings look like they live in her skin rather than on top of it.

Colors?

Yup, the slot is for one of the books down by her feet that I'll paint separately so I can reach all of her skin and paint the book with more details.

Thanks! I'll definitely take your advice for the tats.

Thoughts on sheer stockings if I should try to do them? To me it's like she was in the middle of getting dressed and then got distracted by a good (spell) book.

I'm also thinking she's a sorceress and I may add some fun spell efffects with her floating some books around herself idly.

Colors- I'm thinking that the tats will be bright and pretty as well as a few arcane designs. Her skin I'm leaning towards the Hispanic or Native American, with dark hair.

She has some whips that came with her that I didn't even clip from the sprues and won't be using as that's not the vibe I'm going for here.

Some more pics from last night as I was able to get the base black primer down through the airbrush. That Stynylrez primer straight through without thinning is fantastic!

Today, I'll hit it with some white zenithal priming.

The pics I can show w/o nudity -

Are you planning to put her base into something else?  There was a rough spot on her base in the lower right-hand corner in the first post.  I just assumed you weren't done cleaning her but it looks like you've now primed over it.

For sheer stockings you will be making a mix of whatever color you decide on plus her base skintone.  At the thinnest parts, such as the knee, it will be nearly skin while any part that isn't being stretched will be the base stocking color.  As such you can do this for almost any paint combination.  Black is the most common color I see used in minis, so you might mix it up and use a different color.  An image search will bring up more reference material than you can use.

If the wife asks why you are looking at sheer women's stockings, the obvious reply is that they are for you.

Not putting the base into anything, tho I may clip it down to make it just the wood planks and place on top of a small black plinth.

Thanks for the advice on stockings and the reason behind looking at them! :;):

Very nice model.  I couldn't quite figure out what she was distracted by and why her arms are in the air.  A book, you say?  Better be a good book.   I see her as a showgirl sitting back stage looking through her scrapbook of publicity shots and performance reviews.  Does she have some kind of scarf around her neck?

Hmm, haven't looked that close at her neck. I thought it was a choker or necklace, but it could be a scarf.

I dug out a few more metal and resin books from the bits box, I'm liking the idea coming into my head of them looking like they are floating and flying around her, so they'd be attached at corners and edges, which would be some delicate work to make sure they stay in place.

Death Goddess Izanami is a sculpture based on Izanami-no-Mikoto, the creation goddess and deity of the underworld as chronicled in Shinto mythology.
The bold designs of Axis Mundi Games and the neoclassical virtuosity of CA Sculpts have merged to bring forth a boutique product designed for the most demanding collectors.
Death Goddess Izanami is a model that focuses on emotions as no model in the industry has done before. The sad majesty and woeful glory of a tormented goddess, the divine terror and eternal anguish of the departed, mere phantasms of their former conscience... all brought to life by a sculpture devised to match the style and the strength of neoclassical statues as never dared before.
The aim of this kickstarter is to produce a limited collector's run called the Fukashi Sekai Run 不可視世界. All models forming part of theFukashi Sekai Run will he numbered and signed.

      Story
Signum Workshop is a division of Signum Games company that specializes in the creation of high-quality fantasy miniatures in STL format for self-printing.
Signum Games have been creating and casting fantasy resin miniatures for several years, and our miniatures have a lot of admirers from all over the world. 3D printers are nowadays becoming more and more popular, therefore we decided to join the market and make our miniatures more accessible to you.
The imagination of our artists and modellers have no borders, and sometimes there are just too many new characters (or variations of one character) for us to be able to cast all at once in resin. But we don't want new characters to just gather dust on the hard drive and wait for their time to come. After all, now we finally can share all our new products with you!
All of our miniatures have 32mm scale, which was not a suitable scale for some board games. All our models in files will be pre-assembled and have an option of individual parts.
You can learn all about the quality of our models and to print files simply by clicking on the link and download a free model!
The Signum Workshop project is only at the very beginning of its journey, so we will be happy to see your support, questions, advice, and comments on Patreon!
By supporting us on Patreon, every month you will get access to a new set of STL files of our newest miniatures.
        Dear friends,
this set introduces 4 factions that will appear on our Patreon in the future.
You will meet Plague fighters from the far East, proud warriors from the hot South, harsh warriors from the cold North, and adventurers from the mountains of the West.

Thought some of you might find this of interest:

      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cultofpaint/deorgard-by-cult-of-paint

At Cult of Paint we've taught painting classes to hundreds of people all over the world. We make painting tutorials for YouTube and Patreon. We have signature series airbrushes with renowned manufacturer Harder & Steenbeck AND we produce a 54mm sci-fi miniatures range and bust collection that has won multiple international painting awards. Now it's time for something really cool............ OUR FIRST FANTASY MINIATURES RANGE!!!!!
Dræfend bust painted by David Colwell @davecolwell725 Ever since we created our sci-fi miniatures range we've had the bug for creating awesome models for people to enjoy painting. We LOVE fantasy settings and wanted to create our own world to explore the characters so often associated with fantasy and folklore, but with our own interpretations. And so Deorgard was born, with the elves being the first race we wanted to bring to life as gorgeous miniatures and busts......
Heargeard bust painted by Rodrigo Ciprés @rodrigo.akore Releasing the range in one go ensures we create tonnes of excitement while also enabling painters to get their favourite models from day one with no long gaps between characters coming out. And it means we can crack on with working on more miniatures for you to add to your collections!
As we begin to explore this wild land we wanted to introduce some elves from different regions of Deorgard.  PLAY
In Heargeard we meet a woodsman. A guardian of the forests and the dark places where some of the most ancient parts of the land still endure.
Heargeard concept art by Max Fitzgerald @hieronymus_max Painted by David Colwell ( yes that base is insane ) As the trees give way to the grasslands a hunter needs not only patience but the frightening speed and savagery to survive. Dræfend is one such elf who excels here. She has learned to hunt as part of a pack, accompanied by one of the great wolves that make their homes in the foothills nearby.
Dræfend & Wulf concept art by Max Fitzgerald @hieronymus_max Dræfend & Wulf painted by Ruben Martinez @rma_ruben_martinez The land rises sharply and great peaks soar towards the sky. Here we find another symbiosis of elf and beast. Whilst Sceotend may be blind she does not lack sight, her hawk's third eye providing unrivalled clarity and vision.
concept art by Max Fitzgerald @hieronymus_max Sceotend painted by Richard Gray @daemonrich An equally harsh environment can be found in the vast desert that covers much of the centre of Deorgard. In this ever-changing and ruthless sea of sand, those such as Læl's word is law. She is judge and executioner, swift and merciless at dealing out punishment to any transgressors.
Læl concept art by Max Fitzgerald @hieronymus_max Læl painted by Andy Wardle @andywardle_artwork As primal and challenging as the landscape of Deorgard is there are still places where societies have settled and thrived. Guardians such as Indryhten stand sentinel over sacred places and those elected by their peers to rule these bastions of advancement.

A new Kickstarter from Durgin Paint Forge coming late September / early October.
Wasn't a backer of the previous ones, but I don't think there's been any issues.

They've been working away at this one for a while, so most of the minis have already been previewed on their blog.
