Sergeant_Crunch
At this point I think I've made plans for an army in every faction except Necrons...screw those guys.

I believe the reasoning form the Heretics goes like this: 1. The Emperor is not a god but pretends to be one : Ergo he is unworthy of the title Emperor of mankind 2. Horus was worthy, declared so by the forces of the Warp (who call the Emperor "The Anathema") 3. Although Worthy Horus was defeated, the Emperor remains a pretender to the throne that belongs to Chaos' champion, now embodied in Abbadon. 4. Ergo, the Emperor is a False Emperor, and Abandon is the rightful ruler of Mankind, death to the false emperor yadda yadda. Of course, simply Understanding that logic chain is considered heresy, so I will, of course, as a loyal imperial, submit myself to the inquisition for re-education and cleansing. The "cover art" they're using for their website makes me suspect Death Guard vs Ultramarines/Generic Codex Marines. Meaning I may potentially be adding my first Chaos army, in the form of Death Guard. Otherwise I currently have 3 Xenos: Tyranid, Tau, Ork and 2 Loyalists: Space Wolves, Adeptus Mechanicus. Necrons are high on my list of "cool models I'd like to have" but I cannot justify a 4th Xenos army when I suspect a chaos Army will be coming my way. Although it occurs to me that with the advent of Death Guard coming to my shelves, I could soon play myself in a 3 sided Imperium vs Chaos vs Xenos battle representing all 3 "Sides" of the galactic war as defined by their own website. I wonder if I'd win?

I wonder if I'd win? At this point I have four forces I can work with: a mish mash of vanilla Marines in an Ultramarines successor chapter I dreamt up, a Cadian force that used to be tournament legal in 4th ed but will need some replacements due to loss/damage, the beginning of a second Space Marines force that will be Crimson Fists, and the beginning of an Ork force. I say mish mash for the first group of Space Marines because I got them in the 3rd edition starter box and rest were purchases of opportunity from other players, so I never had a coherent plan for the force. The Imperial Guard just need some specific models replaced and depending on how all these rules work out some adjustment to the overall force. Heck, I might even go back and paint their eyes. The Crimson Fists and Orks don't have enough models to meet the force organization rules...yet. The CF will have a coherent plan for purchases though unlike my homebrewed chapter. I don't really want to repaint the older ones as there's a bit of nostalgia attached being the first figures I ever painted and I'd kind of like to get them up to a playable force eventually. I've also been toying around with the idea of a Chaos force, either Thousand Sons or a Chaos Undivided list; Eldar (Iyanden maybe, not sure yet); Tau have always piqued my interest since they first came out; and Sisters of Battle would be cool if they got plastic kits. My bank account is currently wimpering in the corner as I contemplate all of this.

LET THE GALAXY BURN!!! (I also have a pretty healthy collection of loyalist space marines and Imperial Guard figures, too. Most of them are unbuilt/unpainted, so they could be the start of a loyalist army, or appropriately converted and added to the Chaos ranks.)
Sergeant_Crunch
I think my problem is that I can see the viewpoint of all the factions, find the background for each interesting, and want to play with ALL THE TOYS!.
Dilvish the Deliverer
If I were to go back to 40K (unlikely as I haven't played since Rogue Trader) I would most like play either Orks or Eldar. those wee my favorites from back in the day.
Sergeant_Crunch
And a co-worker and I were contemplating using Hasslefree Grymm to make a "Squat" Imperial Guard force.
Lars Porsenna
Personally I currently have or collect: 1. Eldar (Saim Hann craftworld...see my avatar pic next to my name, prob around 10K points) 2. Raven Guard Space Marines (easy to paint, cool fluff, not a mainstream Marine faction but still 1st Founding) 3. Necrons (fluff is cool, whether you like vers 1.5 in 3rd ed, or the "new" expanded current fluff) 4. Chaos Space Marines (TWO flavors: CC oriented World Eaters, and more generalist Iron Warriors). I also have a few Grey Knights, Harlequins, Custodes, and Sisters of Battle as allied formations, though the temptation is always there to expand into full-fledged armies... Damon. izzylobo
Currently I have Sisters of Silence and Adeptes Custodes, and a loose mix of Space Marines, Eldar, and Tau, and, like, one or two various others - a couple of Tyrannids, an Ork, some Epic-scale stuff. I figure my first armies will be Imperium - a combined-arms force under Custodes leadership - and then either Eldar (Ynnead, so I can paint all the awesome), or Tau (Stealth/Mechanized, because Giant Robots). If I ever do CSM it will almost certainly be Thousand Sons, because Slaaneshi Egyptian Space Marine Sorcerer Awesomeness.
