Fantasy Flight made the WH40K Conquest Living Card Game and they have since dropped the license from their product line.  You may want to hit a FLGS to see if they have any starters available.  My local one had a few on sale after FFG stopped supporting it but its long gone now.

A quick search of my favorite online board game store has a copy of the core set at $30.

And I have the game, so if you are ever in Boston, I'll be happy to play a game with you.

And if I trade in my Magic cards again for store credit and happen to get miniatures back, that's a bonus in my book.

Yes, yeees. Gooood. Trade away the evil paper cards for good wholesome miniatures to paint, it is your destiny!

Took a beating in my last game, trying out the Chaos Marine codex. One of my rhinos was destroyed by one twin-linked bright lance shot, and when the berserkers inside came out they were gunned down; the other rhino filled with chosen made it to the front line but the entire squad of six was wiped out by overwatch fire.

On the other hand my hellbrutes were unerringly accurate the whole game, and possessed are frighteningly fast with the Renegade Chapter trait that lets them advance and charge in the same turn (plus they got maximum attacks every time they fought).

Going to have a 2v2 game this week, my Red Corsairs teaming up with Death Guard against (I believe) Tau and Space Wolves, 750 points each. Should be fun.

Last night's game was a victory for the combined dark forces of the Red Corsairs and the World Eaters over the Grey Knights and Tau.

TheTau player was arguably more aggressive than he should have been, deploying his Ghostkeel suit very close to our units and consequently losing it in the first turn, while a couple of turns later we learned that three Crisis suits and a Tau commander can't kill two basic Chaos Marines, even on the charge. The Grey Knights player also made the mistake of teleporting his Dreadknight within charge range of my cultists, and was bogged down long enough for our other units to take apart the rest of the army.

Cultists were one of my favourite units in this game, along with the exalted champion. I'm very tempted to go heavy with cultists next time I play Chaos, backed up by character buffs and a couple of support units. I was very sad that I didn't get to use the Tide of Traitors stratagem that allows me to respawn a unit of cultists, but maybe next time if I take bigger units I'll be able to live the dream and respawn a unit of 30 or so.

But next game we're doing 1000 points each, and I'm very tempted to troll everyone and borrow my friend's Stompa...

Yes!

LET THE GALAXY BURN!!!!

I'll bring the marshmallows for toasting.

In other news, my friend has approved my borrowing of his Stompa. I'm slightly worried that is going to ruin everyone's fun, but the opportunity is there and I want to see how it pans out.

Is a STOMPA like some version of a titan?

It's an Ork mini-titan. Bigger and tougher than an Imperial Knight, but not as big as a battle Titan. Comes in at 977 points IIRC. Enough points left over to take a mek with two grot oilers to repair it.

Is this a group where it's always a surprise as to who brings what, or does everyone pretty much know what they're fighting against before the game?

If it's the second why not just ask everyone if they object to fighting a Stompa?

It's still a relatively new group, and we're open to people trying new things. We don't really share lists ahead of time, either.

I'msure everyone will be fine with it, and it'll be interesting to see how the Titanic units affect the game, I just hope that it doesn't completely blind side my opponents and have them end up with no effective way of dealing with it.

Anyone have any cool ideas for 40K objective markers?

One of the objective markers I made for my Eldar a while ago consisted of a 40mm square base, 25mm round base glued to it, 4 of the Asuryan statuettes you get in the Dire Avengers box surrounding, and a High Elf fantasy sword (IIRC from the Silver Helms) glued to it. Represents a pre-Fall artifact the Eldar are trying to secure...
