Looking pretty moldy! ....the skin, not the popcorn.

Don't ask what the paint cost, ask what you're gaining from using the paint. Fame! Glory! A boost to your insanity stats! Worth their weight in paint.

I don't worry about the cost really.  I was making a bad pun/joke with punchline after the spoiler.  I will make less sense as the challenge goes on and my sanity slips away.

Soeaking of punchlines,. Here's an arm.  One more hour of work and I have a test piece for two more of my colors.  Red shadow and Vallejo blue.

Ooo, what a lovely color scheme! Also, the Moldy Skin looks surprisingly good! I haven't done much that color before, so I didn't realize how nice it could look.

You're making great progress!!! :bday:

Thanks for the comments y'all.  I know it's been over 12 hours since I checked in last.  I haven't been sitting around twiddling my self(?) - oh that sounds wrong.  Ignore bad pun gone all wrong.

anyway, even though I'm away from the office for a few days, doesn't mean work stops completely.  So with that and having to move my body - you know, healthy living and all that, only just got in an hour of painting before lunch.  But it was productive and makes me happy to see more paint on things.

Mahogany brown own came out to play - scales on the backs of hands and the belly plates got some.  Felt like I wanted these to be closer to orange than the red shadow and I may highlight with just a wee bit o orange.

Also back spikes got some blue.  I slotted them in for a second to get this pic.  Actually not a bad way to hold hem while they dry.

there will be other colors.  In about an hour I hit the 48 hour mark.  Feeling confident still, but I don't want to think through all of the steps left to do or I'll get too nervous.  Hands are shaky enough as it is.

Okay I think it is time for some violet shadow.  It's off to paint I go.

Break time.  A lot of violet shadow was applied.  Base coats are done for the following parts: arms (both), legs (both), back spikes (all 3).  Though I know I rubbed some red shadow off of something so I'll have to go over that again.

Sorry no pics right now.  Tonight I'll try to get some with a better sense of what's left.

Oh oh fun story.  So last night the digits wanted to play a board game before bed. He usual debate/argument ensued.  Then I hear one of the say "King of Tokyo". So I ended the debate right then and there.  I needed to play as Gigazaur to go along with my painting of just such a Kaiju.  Kids were Mechadragon and Cyberbunny.

It it was a close game.  Cyberbunny took an early lead with a couple rounds in Tokyo before dropping to only 1 health and retreating.  Meanwhile Mechadragon was rolling crazy numbers and getting points all over he place.  Gigazaur (myself) was pretty behind but collected enough energy tokens to get the card "complete destruction".  This meant if u rolled one of each symbol on the dice I would get 9 victory points.  And wouldn't you know it, the round after I'd knocked Cyberbunny out of Tokyo, I got those 9 points.  This put me back in the game.  Meanwhile, Mechadragon was being attacked by Cyberbunny's poison spit and had to retreat from Tokyo.  So then the score was 17 to 16 to 15 - Gigazaur, Cyberbunny, Mechadragon.  Gigazaur gained a card that allows you to change any die to a 1 once per turn.  But no points.  Cyberbunny gained 2 points for holding Tokyo, but no other score.  Mechadragon almost killed Cyberbunny (down to 2 health) but Cyberbunny decided to stay in Tokyo since two more points would bring their total to 20 and the game.  But first Gigazaur had one more chance.  I could either try to get two attacks to defeat Cyberbunny, take the city, then hold out against Mechadragon and hope they wouldn't score the 3 or 4 points they needed or kill Gigazaur.  Or, go for the 3 victory points.  I rolled and got 3 1's, kept them and rolled everything else.  Nothing good.  One last reroll and got one more 1.  Used my card ability to change a die to a 1 and won the game!

oh, gee.  I just spent a good chunk of my time typing that all out on the phone.  The madness is taking over!

also no time to paint more before school is over so it'll have to wait until tonight.

The mahogany brown looks fantastic! It's one of my favorite colors. And the blue is looking awesome with it!

Victory for the Gigasaur seems appropriate! :D Yes, the insanity is real. Wait until the mini starts talking to you. Kaladrax gave me SO much sass.

Thanks Boot!  I am enjoying seeing the colors work together in actuality.  So much more I want to do with it but have to prioritize.

Oh, I ignore the voices, which is pretty easy since khanji and I don't share a language.  I do sometimes talk to it tho.  Oh what was that, khanji?  Nante kotta! Yamete, kusuguttai.
see?  No idea what it's saying.

I am hoping I can paint something during family movie time.  But homework has to happen first.  Time to motivate.

I've been trying to do a bit of painting every day, since RCon is coming up so soon. I have a problem with long-term projects, though, so I need to occasionally work on something quick and sweet in between. Sometimes I need to finish something to keep me motivated, you know? Tonight's lucky candidate was this bear, whom I love. His name is Randall and he likes standing in fields.

      Anyhow, enjoy!

Now that I've completed Domog, high priest of Rovagug, it's time to move on to the lesser threat: the Tarrasque, Herald of Rovagug.

I got Khanjira the world breaker with the Kickstarter ages ago, and dusted off the box recently while working on Domog.  I was saddened to discover the big guy's left leg was missing.  Fortunately, Reaper is awesome and they shipped me a replacement leg!  With a nice bottle of paint to boot. :-)

This is my most ambitious attempt to date.  A mini-campaign I’m running some people through calls for many kobolds of varying colors and classes.  I had 12 Kobolds from Bones I, the 4 pack in metal that those were based off of (03064), the metal Leader and Sorcerer (03024), the 12 awesome new kobolds from Bones 4, and a 7 pack (I may have gotten a freebie, I thought I bought a six pack) of kobolds from the Ral Partha TSR Official D&D 2nd Edition line, stamped 1989.  That’s a whopping 37 figures.  I want to paint tribes from all 5 chromatic factions, and want to have as few duplicate poses per faction possible.  The Ral Partha kobolds have a more simian or canine face compared to the more reptilian face of the Reaper models, but I’m still going to fold those into each faction.  The Adventure calls out a Cleric (Red) a Ranger, (Green) and a Sorcerer (Green).  Those are the only ones with specific art, and I have models representative of each present without need for modification.  Also, I am not planning to add to the bases at all.

And I want to finish all of this in about a month (unlikely)!

      Wish me luck!

All the information you need should be here.

As usual, the new format holds a "hard mode" challenge!

      July and August 2019 Challenge

      Your challenge is: 9!

      Bonus Challenge: The First!
Independence Day! Both Canada and the US celebrate their independence days in July. Keeping it clean - paint a mini that resembles the most absurd stereotype of the country, whether it's a lumberjack riding a moose with a jug of maple syrup, or a fat dude in a scooter with the american flag and a big mac.  Or something from the film Independence Day, that works too.

      Bonus Challenge: The Second!
August 22nd is National Spumoni day. 3-layered Gelato dish. Paint any mini in a themed pallet around your choice image of said dish.

      Hard Mode Challenge! Eruption
Also in August is the fabled eruption of Pompeii. A full-size diorama is a but much to ask - but instead theme a mini around trying to escape the eruption (lava flows, flying chunks of rock, etc) particularly utilizing the OSL and an ashen look.

As always, the game is made up and the points don't matter!
