Reaperbryan
Whether, and to what extent additional Opaque models become available in translucent (a la Bones III:Invisible Heroes) remains to be determined. Just out of curiosity, is this something that you could in theory play around with at the factory with the moulds that you have there? Like, just load Thomas up with clear plastic pellets and start cranking out invisible cave trolls to see what they look like? My understanding is that when doing injection molding, doing plastic type and/or color changes actually requires more setup time and expense than changing a mold. I don't know the actual times, but say a mold can be changed in an hour, whereas changing the plastic color would take a few hours to purge the old color out, which would result in waste. A full purge takes well over an hour and has a distinct cost in material which cannot be recycled well (it could be re-introduced into solid opaque black at a 1% ratio, but that's really *really* awkward and if it's wrong it ruins a lot of additional material. I'd say Kristof65 has a pretty good grasp. Yes it is something that we have the ability to "play around with", but as a general rule, it is not worth changing a mold to a new figure to generate less than 5,000 of the figure, and it is not worth changing the material in the barrel for less than 10,000 of that color (so in theory i could change color and then run two molds of 5,000 copies, after which it's profitable to change the color and mold again), so it is unlikely that we would conduct such experiments without evidence that there is market demand for such an expensive test. I really like the transparent ones, and I'm always pushing for new uses of that ability, as I believe it distinguishes our offerings from others available, so we do have a bias for this kind of thing
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted November 11, 2016 Moderator Share Posted November 11, 2016 Weirdly, I have a mental block against painting the transparent ones, even though I know that once primed in Brown Liner there is no difference.
Glitterwolf
I second this. There has been a serious lack of dinosaurs and Pleistocene megafauna, and I would adore seeing them. Also on that subject, i'd love to see feathered raptors and a feathered rex =P I like both of your ideas, and humbly suggest making sure they appear in this thread: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/63350-bones-youd-like-to-see-thread-3/ (I have been hoping for more real world megafauna to appear in Bones for a while now) I have repeatedly posted in that thread, and I've suggested, Dinosaurs, Megafauna, Dire Animals, and stuff like protodinosaurs like Dimetrodon as well as feathered dinos. Join the fray, maybe we will be able to convince Reaper to make at least a few for Bones IV???? I would love it so much.. Also my creditcard will hate me then...
Grayfax
So you guys are suggesting Bones IV: Jurassic Flock?
Talae
I bought a ton of the Collect A figures a couple of years ago.
Pezler the Polychromatic
i know a lot of people say just go get toys, but that's not the same. Also on that subject, i'd love to see feathered raptors and a feathered rex =P They're not toys, they're a medium for artistic expression.
ShadowRaven
I'll just drop back around to whisper "more dragons" in peoples ears. Not in a sexy way though. More like in a spy movie way.
Magnus Mercury
This one seems kind of obvious to me, so I'm surprised no one suggested it: Bones IV: Make Miniatures Great Again ... but then, Bones have already done that by reinvigorating a lot of miniatures enthusiasts (myself included).

buglips*the*goblin
For the past several Bones kickstarters we have seen the limits of Big Bad Monsters pushed as each one delivers a fresh awesome horror that I inevitably find myself painting with a teeny tiny brush. My question for Bones IV is this: Are my lunatic challenges any factor in the decision to make unbelievably huge and awesome things and, if so, how much of it is to see how much I can endure before I snap and/or die? Related - Is Ron trying to off me so people will stop asking for a Buglips figure? Remember that I wield the mindbending powers of The Polkaroo.
Dr_Automaton
Bones IV: Make Miniatures Great Again Bones IV: Make miniatures cheap again... These, um, might have the unintended effect of pissing off a number of potential KS backers. We all like to joke, but it was a pretty contentious election. There's also the irony of referencing the MAGA slogan while manufacturing the Bones in China. . . .
Crowley
This discussion makes me realize that this time around will most likely not be during my summer vacation. My work productivity will suffer since I will not be on vacation. Checking in hourly to keep a running total of the pledged amount will probably need to be a larger team effort this time. I really enjoyed the interactions I had during the campaign in the comments section, the forum thread, and the private chats about the real-time data collection with a number of forum members. Maybe I will use some of my time off at the end of the KS. I had such a fun time doing that data collection... I'd love to do it again. I have no idea how "in" I'll be for IV, but I know that I'll have to be in for some of it. Depending on what ends up in the core set, I might even get that too. I'll probably just drop $100 to start and see how it goes, because there's almost no way I'm spending less than that... even if I skip the core.

I would assume that you and I will be able to cover much of the days entry again, but I bet pulling in a couple more people would be even better. We can figure that out closer to going live though.
Sirithiliel
i know a lot of people say just go get toys, but that's not the same. Also on that subject, i'd love to see feathered raptors and a feathered rex =P They're not toys, they're a medium for artistic expression. the biggest difference between a toy dinosaur and a potential Bones dinosaur is these: 1. Conversion. There is no real good way to convert a plastic toy dinosaur. THe material they're made of usually, the hollow insides, it just seems unfeasible and a pain. 2. Details. Many toy dinosaurs are stupid looking and cartoony with fangs on the herbivores, etc. The quality toy dinosaurs are normally even more pricey than a Bones one probably would be. Papo is a wonderful detailed and accurate dinosaur toy maker, however they're pricey for a toy dinosaur. 3. Repainting. I've repainted a Papo spinosaurus. It wasn't easy, or fun. In fact i gave the thing away because i got sick of trying, and knew my coworker's kid wouldn't care i would much rather see a line of cheap-for-their-size detailed, convertible and hopefully fairly accurate to current science dinosaurs that supports Reaper when i buy them =P
