Bones IV pre-launch & news

So, this week Michelle and I made a very last-minute decision to take a short road-trip to Origins.

We decided on Tuesday afternoon to go for Wednesday/Thursday to check out the convention for the first time.

We caught up with the Reaper crew, played some new games and were really glad we went.

The Origins program book held a couple of… interesting tidbits.

The first and most obvious was this full-page ad by Reaper:

But the second is arguably more interesting. Julie Guthrie was one of the convention's guests of honour and her description in the program book included this interesting photo (enhancement by me):

Now, it might just be the angle, or my memory failing me, but that looks like a new, giant dragon by my favourite dragon sculptor.

Thoughts? Feeling? Wild speculation? Go.

OH! Buzzkill!! There goes the rampant speculation!

(Well, now that he mentioned it, it does sort of look like Mal's other wing . . . )

So, anyone actually type in that url? It doesn't seem to work ...

Yes.

It will be the website. With that pesky thing called Bones 3 fulfillment, it didn't get launched in error.

It will be up by end of the week once we are back in office from Origins.

You guys went to Origins? Did you hear anything about Bones 4 while you were up there?

I didn't ask about Bones 4, but I did talk about Bones 3 a bit.  Some logistics delaying some models to retail didn't occur to me like needing to design, prototype, review, revise and ultimately print packaging for minis that won't fit into any of the existing standard blisters.  Things like Goremaw was the example I asked about.  This knowledge has allowed me to reset my patience.

Bones 4 likely needs to have it's timelines adjusted to account for Bones 3 and Baseboss and Convention Season.  I'm taking a we'll know, when they know and can tell us.

Just checked that URL again today and it still comes up with an error for me. Same for everyone else?

I'm actually okay with bones 4 waiting a bit. I will be completely done after dwarven forge 5, and I've only barely started painting my bones 3. I want to be excited, not dreading.

I do believe that Bryan was re-prioritized with getting the RCon tickets/badges up and for sale.  So it may not be this week.

(all of this is conjecture not based upon any inside knowledge.  Please don't burn my internet house down if I am incorrect)

I just tried the URL for kicks. Even did a few refreshes.

Then I was likely to be eaten by a grue. By Zork! ::D: (I feel old, because I didn't need to Google it)

I'd be surprised if Bones IV launches before the EU & AUS regional hubs at the very least start shipping.  You'd tend to get a lot of ROW backers crying "Foul!" at that stage.

Would also impact backing quite a bit, I imagine. You need time for people's current hoards to sink in before you can sell them another pile.

I'm kinda wondering about Reaper's schedule, they've got a lot going on with Reapercon, Base Boss, going to other conventions and so on. A delay would probably disappoint a lot of people, but they'd have a saner schedule and maybe be better prepared. (Not that I want a delay.)
