About this project

 

This project will enable me to design produce and then manufacture a very exquisite pack of'Last of the Mohicans' Movie Characters to be used with my current 28mm French & Indian War range. Once my Kickstarter pledge has reached the target, the figures will only be available to my Kickstarter backers and not released on my website for at least 2 months. I am asking for your support, which will enable me to design and produce the following figures. If the pledge is reached I will open up Stretch goals.

I like the idea but somehow I doubt he has a contract with the studio that owns the movie to be able to produce the figures. I'll give it the weekend, if no one asks that on the project I will.

There is a US company, conquest miniatures, that already makes everything listed in this Kickstarter. Eric's miniatures are well sculpted and well cast.

Why would he need such a contract? The movie is based on a long-out-of-copyright novel. So long as the sculpting doesn't use the appearance of the actors in the movie, there should be no IP issue.

What an odd choice.  The book is public domain and known well enough to stand on its own legs.  There's no reason to quote actor's names or the movie at all.  Nobody is going to pledge because they only know the movie but not the book.

I played a scene out of the movie a couple years ago at WinterWar and the GM had minis that were easily recognizable as the movies characters.

Naming the minis with the actors names identifies them as playig the roles in the movie studio's interpretation of the book. That interpretation may still be under copyright.
