Goremaw - Purple Worm

Recommended Posts

I decided to be traditional and go for a purple worm.  Since I will be needing one for a future game and lets face it.  The DDM one is just meh.  Here is some comparison shots of Goremaw and the theme I'm going for.

I decided to prime him with Pokorny Paints: Black.  Now this paint is not the best option for priming  I still believe liner goes on much smoother.  However, for big guys like this its not so bad.  You may notice a few spots that didn't get coverage.  That seem to be common with this paint so you have to watch out for those if you decide to use this stuff.  I will go hunting for said spots with a smaller brush as I want to ensure completely coverage.

I'm planning to paint mine in purple as well; watching this thread with enthusiasm.

Here is an update.  First coat of color.  Imperial Purple and Deep Red for the mouth.  I think I'm going to leave the spines black and dark purple and make the carapace sort of bright to stand out. I should have another update with my progress later today.

So I'm just about done with this guy.  I really thought it would take longer but he actually went pretty fast.
I still need to do some touch up and a matte seal.  Waiting for the gloss sealer to dry  I may put another coat of gloss because the spikes on the back kept getting worn from me holding it.  WP_20170607_11_56_39_Pro.thumb.jpg.0a5c6fc74701cd2dfb8a183cf67f78d8.jpgWP_20170607_11_56_46_Pro.thumb.jpg.d0c74375038cba23124a3e1d98ad7a68.jpgWP_20170607_11_56_54_Pro.thumb.jpg.41a71869a16257e1100129165bd5f829.jpgWP_20170607_11_57_05_Pro.thumb.jpg.6900a3b4d9f56c7b38595cbefea83324.jpg

The gloss in the mouth looks better in person than it does in the pics...don't really know what to do about that.  Next I will be painting something smaller.  Ive been eyeing the brain in a jar.

Well after doing some adjustments to both my air compressors I decided that I need to use my airbrushes more and start knocking out some of the bigger minis I have.

Gotta justify buying more minis, maybe airbrush’s, and/or airbrushing stuff.

I have a little more to do but aiming to do quick paint for table top, and work on skill building.

      From Bones 3: Gug

"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black-furred arm to which both of the paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone, and the head of the awakened gug sentry, large as a barrel, wabbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown with coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally."

      From Bones 3, the Werearmadillo

Obviously, lycanthropy has spread too far...and this is a reminder that Reaper are from Texas, where armadillos are native and as I understand it, seen as pests. I would really like to know how the sales figures for this model compares to other lycanthropes.
