Bones 3 - Behir

Agreed.  Any places you had difficultly are not showing.  I really like the way the blues and greens work together.

I think this looks great. I love the stripe and colors and I think the details on the head are excellent.

When dry fitting this piece I had difficultly imagining how to approach painting the bits because of how they fit and how tiny some of them are.

if you were to do it again what would you do?

If I had to do it again I would definitely paint it in pieces.  The arms are the biggest problem and in order to get to the center of the base with a brush you need them out of the way.  Also to paint the fin on the back.  Those arms are troublesome.  I ended up taking mine apart to paint it properly.  Also the tail piece at the very end you should leave off too and it sort of gets in the way of painting one area.  I mean this model is a painter nightmare lol but all the cool ones are.

Did you have to pin yours? Mine barely wants to stay assembled (from a test run to make sure I had all the pieces).

Yep I pinned every piece except the tail.

Not sure why you are disappointed??    That turned out very nice and you have brought it alive.

I agree, I think you did a great job with it.

I really like the stripes on the back--reminds me of garter snakes (I love those little guys).

I was working on this Behir miniature since April 21st. Quite some time, but with a toddler in the house and other hobbies I only managed a few hours every other day.

The project started simple enough, but I had some issue to overcome and learned a few new techniques: UV resin as water effect, making tall grass out of straw, painting a lizard eye, painting fairly vibrant red and making a beech tree.

If you are interested in the full story there is a WIP thread, too.

All in all I am pleased with the outcome, but still need to improve vibrancy and contrast further. The blends on the scales could be smoother, too.

      C&C very welcome.

      From Bones 3: Gug

"It was a paw, fully two feet and a half across, and equipped with formidable talons. After it came another paw, and after that a great black-furred arm to which both of the paws were attached by short forearms. Then two pink eyes shone, and the head of the awakened gug sentry, large as a barrel, wabbled into view. The eyes jutted two inches from each side, shaded by bony protuberances overgrown with coarse hairs. But the head was chiefly terrible because of the mouth. That mouth had great yellow fangs and ran from the top to the bottom of the head, opening vertically instead of horizontally."

      From Bones 3, the Werearmadillo

Obviously, lycanthropy has spread too far...and this is a reminder that Reaper are from Texas, where armadillos are native and as I understand it, seen as pests. I would really like to know how the sales figures for this model compares to other lycanthropes.
