Presenting an Android Flower-seller, part of the Servants of the Engine faction in the Twisted game universe.
Had a lot of fun painting this one, although given a second chance I probably would've given her brighter flowers, and luckily you can't see the terrible bit of mold slip going on across her bonnet from this angle.
As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
Well, I've gone and done it. I got a YouTube channel and have started making a series of videos on matters of paint and painting.
Okay, I say "series of videos" all grandly, but at the moment it's one video and a planned syllabus. But I have more planned!
This is pretty much my first video ever. I was helped a great deal by my family members who have more experience in this.
The first video is a paint comparison, looking at one of the new Liquitex Acrylic Gouache paints (Quinacridone Magenta, PR122) and considering its suitability for miniatures painting.
Bit of a kitbash here. The chap with the spear is from Alternative Armies. The others are a mix of Warlord orc heads (previously Wargames Factory) with two frostgrave arms and bodies, one Oathmark goblin, and one Oathmark dwarf heavy infantryman.
Have managed to get a really quick palette going for speed painting orcs. I prime them by brush with Vallejo dark grey primer, then use Scale 75 black metal for the armour, Vallejo hammered copper for decoration and metal details, dark red for cloth and dark brown for leather. The skin is Vallejo Model Colour Heavy Warm Grey. Then the whole model gets a black ink wash and I pick out teeth etc in light grey. These models took about 90 minutes altogether, ex drying time.
The female changed from being a Storm Giant to being a Cloud Giant between the kickstarter and the retail release of the miniature. Whatever the subtype, she still gets a case of Smurfette syndrome.
The pose of the female is a bit strange, and she does have a certain supermodel-vibe going on. Reaper has explained that the pose was meant to illustrate her bending down to talk to someone human sized, and as such it is not too bad. But taken out of context it just comes off as a bit cheesecake-ish. Reaper has acknowledged that the pose did not work as intended. The swimsuit-like corset really does not help to avoid this impression at all.
Again, a mini with a slight case of bendyweaponitis. (which, in fact, is the proper scientific name for it). Treated with hot water then cold to straighten out the worst of it.
I based her on a 50mm round lipped base.
77162 Yephima, Female Cloud Giant (the male one did not get a proper name, I wonder why not?)

Haven't post anything here for so long...
I'm not really following any color scheme here, since I am not familiar with the lore of CAV at all (I'm more interested in the game).
Also I wish I learnt a bit more about painting technique for glowing effect before painting the windows...
