Possibly one of the most helpful comments I have read in Random.  Went and discussed it with my wife because she has been using Sea Salts without iodine for a long time and fatigue has been a thing for a long time.  Certainly worth adding back in and seeing...

Some of it was her thyroid and a lump, but they took the lump and only a small part of the thyroid and after the long wait and see her thyroid levels were back up to a good place.  We've been shifting her slowly through food changes again (removing nightshades, etc.) and some days are much better than others, but somedays, like today, the fatigue just hits.

Well I checked my multivitamin, and iodine is in that.  So unless I've got a thyroid problem I don't know about, I should be fine.  One of our gaming friends had thyroid cancer many years ago, though, so it's an issue that I hear about from time to time.

Very long role-playing heavy D&D game yesterday, with birthday cake.  At the end of it all, all I can say is, "Total waffle for the paladin."  ::D:

The same logic applies to washing the car.

I never wash our cars (since they both live outside), and I haven't noticed any appreciable difference in the weather.

I didn't want to go to church choir today, but I dragged myself there anyways. Now I'm glad I did, I actually feel like I got some spoons back. ^_^

Huzzah!

We had an enjoyable visit with my mother in Vermont today.

And I see that you lot have been busy experimenting with Buglips powered exercise bikes in order to power steam driven tablets so that dumb people can get walloped with large stanky fish in the hopes that the escaping stupid can be harnessed to provide rain storms that will solve the power crisis in the Northern Hemisphere.

Good work!:winkthumbs:

I'm a bit irritated with myself for something that happened today, and yet not. (Yeah, I'm complicated like that...)

At a yardsale today I found a couple issues of The New Mutants, and an issue of DP7... The lady running the yardsale, who had clearly been a heavy smoker and drug user at some point, immediately ran up to me as I was looking through the comic books, invaded my personal space, and informed me that the newer ones were $1 and the older ones were $2, while immediately beginning to blabber inanely about comics and how she remembered this one but not that one, which ones were cool, etc...

I didn't really feel like I had the extra six bucks for the comics with all the stuff I had to pay for this week, so I held onto them while I looked around through everything else.

And then, in a box of toys, I found the Tika mini from Ral Partha Dragonlance Set #1, and two of the old TSR/LJN 2-inch non-articulated plastic figures, Strongheart and Warduke...  I asked her how much she wanted for them, and she quoted me five bucks for the two plastics and three for the metal. Which wasn't really that bad. Like I said, though, I didn't really have the extra cash at the moment, but was still seriously weighing whether or not to get them even though it would have been about $12 total..

However, the lady jumped in and assumed I was trying a stall tactic to try to haggle over the price. Now, as I'm sure some of you know all too well, sometimes ex-junkies never get out of the habit of acting like one.... And this woman was getting up in my personal space and being really pushy and manipulative. Those are two things I absolutely can't stand - strangers invading my space, and people being pushy and trying to manipulate me. This is why I really can't stand junkies and ex-junkies that still act like one. She was all, "What, you were thinking about a different price? What price were you thinking? C'mon, tell me... We can deal, etc,  etc...", like she was trying to hustle me, even though the prices were definitely fair.

She was really starting to get on my nerves.

So finally I did what I usually do when pushy, irritating people try to engage with me. I walked away.

I told her, "No thanks", put back the stuff and walked away. As I left, she told me, "I would have taken ten bucks for the whole lot..."

And I would have gladly paid ten buck for the three comics and three figures, lady. But you went and pushed all my buttons, and now you couldn't sell me the Hope Diamond for a buck fifty.

On the one hand, I'm annoyed both that I let the stuff get away (the plastic figures sell on eBay for more than ten bucks each) and that I let the woman piss me off, but on the other hand later on I ended up spending the money I would have used for them on stuff that was more important.

So there is that.

I still have no stairs. But... I have them drying right now. Can maybe get them in tomorrow. Or Tuesday. Maybe by Wednesday. Then I've got Friday off, so definitely by then. Saturday for sure. I'm sure by Sunday.

/This is taking way too long.

The wife complains when something like that happens. I explain it this way. The powers that be like to make things tough for me. So many things work out contrary.  I tell her if she expected rain and didn't water then it wouldn't rain. So because you did water, it rained. Better off to water and get rain than not and have everything die.

This is absolutely true.

However, due to 'reasons' we don't have a outside water line that is tracked separate from the house, and to help keep human waste from entering the water supply during heavy rainstorms the guberment made my city sign a consent decree which means my sewage bill is 3x that of our water bill. I personally hate paying three times for something I didn't actually use, and didn't actually need. So when it comes to rain, I try to play the odds.

There are some mental illnesses that can behave in a similar manner, but I know exactly what you're talking about. I have to watch myself or I may also not treat the situation in the most optimal manner.

There are are a lot of things that can influence fatigue. I know. I also deal with it a lot. However I have found addressing as many potentional factors as possible is very helpful and I have less fatigue less often. One of the things that could be a factor is iodine intake. Most western diets are nutritionally poor in iodine, and though for the most part I do not eat a traditional American diet, I also do not often eat fish more than once a week. I don't like eggs, and don't eat much dairy. (Though one source I looked at mentioned pasture raised tends to have higher iodine, but be aware that source was a bit more on the hippy dippy side. Though still had good scientific facts.)

I don't take supplements, and have realized I have replaced all of my iodinated salt sources.

My hypothyriodism has an autoimmune component, and im on hormone replacement, but I'd rather make sure my thyroid has enough base material to work as well as it can.

I just found it funny that it took me that long to stick the pieces together.

Truth!  Ours didn't care when we only gave them dry, but now that they get wet food every day, they live on a timer...

Now... imagine if you will... an 800 pound Cat with foot-long fangs... with no breakfast....

GRRRRROOOOOOWWWWWLLLLLLLLL

Kitties get dry food every night except, Wednesday, Saturday and when friends come over. We were out of wet food last week, even though we had people come over twice, the cats did not revolt because we gave them lots of extra treats. However, when friends were over last night, I only gave them 'special food' (i.e. A can of fancy feast to share between the two of them.) and forgot to give them dry food. My husband can't stand the smell of special food so he doesn't like me feeding them before we go to bed. So for about an hour Ripley has been her most cutely annoying. Pawing my leg. *meow* *meow* *meow*

I realized pretty quickly what she was trying to tell me, but I took 20 mintied to comply. (Can't encourage that behavior and have it bleed over into 'hey, you didn't feed me enough.' -"and etc.)

I wonder how much my hypothyroidism is affected by the fact that I don't add salt to any of my food. I've never been a huge salt person, which is kind of weird because both my parents tend to add a lot of salt to everything.

I'm now strongly of the suspicion that my tiredness today is more than just my normal stuff. The last couple days have had me with some GI issues, with yesterday being the worst, and today I'm sweating an inordinate amount for being in an air conditioned house. Then I bent over and got dizzy. So yep, I think I may have more than just a bit of the trots...

Whelp, Nuclear Krill's first official logo has been uploaded to the Zazzle store. Don't bother looking for it just yet, it just loaded and they say it takes 24 hours to show up sometimes. Also, I did mark it PG-13 (whale hiney, ya know), so guests might not be able to see it since they default to "G" ratings only. Probably can change that, but there it is. Going to work on Sylverthorne's submitted logo work next. Got a couple of ideas to play out on that.

Stairs are coming along, but I can still jump up from my paint table directly into the living room. Hopefully, I'll be able to have something installed by tomorrow evening, and we will have useful steps once again. Then it's on to making them presentable, and putting tile in and around those and the top basement step. Which, btw, scared the beezuus out of me. I'd glued it down with Liquid Nails, and it says it has a working time of ten minutes. Tried stepping on it after an hour and it broke loose! But, looking at it, the glue was still liquidy, so I just pushed it back down and let it sit. After six hours it seems much more solid.

I would probably reacted just like you.

Sometimes the way people behave makes you just want to leave, no matter what...

I really want to do one of those escape rooms. I'm pretty sure that's one of the ones I've looked at too. But getting a group of people together and getting everyone to Seattle is not the easiest feat. One day.

Getting a group of friends together is fun, but not necessary for escape rooms*. From my experience it's better to have random strangers mixed into the group to help break the group thinking that your friends and yourself are used to.

* I've participated in several and the people ranged from 4 to 15 depending on the size and complexity of the puzzles.
