NATO TIGER MEET 2017 and Impressions of Bretagne.

Recommended Posts

As some of you know I went to France to participate in the Nato Tiger Meet 2017.

I can't post all of course, but here is an impression of some airplanes , some badges, and some of the sight seeing.

Badges I acquired, including one from last year I missed then.

That minisub with torpedoes...

Do you know which model it is?

I've only seen the Biber as that's what they have at a local WWII coastal fort.

The one with the Torpedoes is a 2 person Seehund / Seal.

Actually on this Wiki site, the bottom pic is the same sub in Brest..

Thx all for the welcome home.

Glad to be back.

That looks like a splendid way of saving France.

It was, and I did attend some great parties, sadly I can't post pics from that because we are in uniform with name tags and all..

Oh, I didn't know there were any seehunds still to be seen. I watched a show of some guys building one for a museum display. Crazy things those.

Just photoshop out names and name tags...

Just think how cool the pics could look if you subbed in politicians faces and names...

Bad Dog!!!

Glad to see you're still around Beagle.

I had a blast with the R.A.F. crew, let's say it involved Gin-Tonic and Rum.

I gave my older son a copy of the de Bellis Antiquitatis 3.0 rules for Christmas, and he has been inspired to dust off our joint 2009 project to do Egyptians vs Hittites in DBA. That did entail rebasing some chariots, and it looked like they might look lonely on the 60x80mm stands (vice 40x60 we had been using), so I painted 8 Egyptian infantry to serve as chariot runners and put two on each base when I rebased yesterday.

Since I had some unfinished Libyan archers from BITD, I dusted them off and did four as two light infantry stands, to start an opposing army of my own.

I picked out the rest of the Libyan foot last night, but they’ll need a chariot converted from an Egyptian one (most likely).

In between those tasks, I also put a quick paint job on a Bones hordeling, who looks like he’ll be happier facing 1/72 scale opponents than heroic 28+mm figures.

Had an hour to decide what I needed for the group. Decided to paint up a drowned zombie horde! :D

I spent lunches last week on these two stands of Saxons for the Osprey Game Dux Bellorum, in which each stand is a unit on its own.  All of the figures are home cast, mostly Prince August with a few spearmen from Dutkins Collectables. For the Saxon army, I'm doing it all with home cast figures, partly as an excuse for having the molds, partly as an artistic challenge. Practically speaking, there's probably more individualization and detail work than is actually necessary for a mass tabletop unit, but I like to err on the extra side...

      Dear all,

after a fairly long hiatus I got back into writing tutorials:

I start with a short one on menhirs. The process is pretty straight forward.

      Menhirs for the gaming table.

Basically you shape a rough menhir shape out of XPS, cover it in filler and work it while it is wet. Painting it is also fairly easy: Grey basecoat, drybrush and pigment wash. The only new thing I did was adding yellow lichen.
All the menhirs are magnetised, so that I can fit them on my modular gaming boards.

Hope this is of interest to some on here.

Usually I take a scenic shot to complement the tutorials. I will retake it again later, as I had only my trusty Smartphone camera at hand. That said I do like the 'light breaking through a clearing' atmosphere.
