Medieval Demon Miniatures

Recommended Posts

Who Are we?

Antediluvian Miniatures are new company producing an ever expanding range of 28mm miniatures for the war gamer, collector and role player. You can see our existing miniatures at www.antediluvianminiatures.com

The Plan.

We would like to add to our ever expanding range of unique and unusual figures by producing this range of Medieval Devils and Demons inspired by the freakish illustrated manuscripts of the medieval period!

These figures are sculpted by Andrew May ( Demons ), Ian Mountain ( Witch ), and Jo Brumby ( Terrence the Goat ). We think these will be great fun and an unusual addition for fantasy wargames, skirmish and role playing games. There are all 28mm scale, cast in metal- they will come with plastic bases supplied.

If the campaign goes well we have some extra characters and a potential terrain feature we'll add in as stretch goals and freebies.

More details of the pledges and locked figures are below.

What do you get.

all the are figures metal cast and supplied with bases. Figures are 28mm scale.

Now there's something you don't see everyday. At least not in over a century.

I always kind of liked the old school classical designs.

They're straight out of woodblock imagery aren't they.

There's also a goat and a flying witch unlocked as free stretch goals (if you pledge more than £30)

The demons are just hanging out, showing off their new back scratchers.  It is, as the beagles have known for centuries, the bunnies you need to watch out for (no, not that one):

This is the same company that successfully delivered the animated D&D based kickstarter last winter:

It was a great project that delivered minis which exceeded expectations.

I only backed for one mini, the Dungeon Master, but it was an excellent sculpt and very well cast. Especially considering it's tiny size. I'm very happy with it.

These are so badly sculpted it is incredible that they've actually reached funding. I am blown away.

I have to disagree.

I think they're well sculpted but being heavily inspired by the source material of the old wood cuttings and manuscript drawings I can see them being an acquired taste as stylistically they're a bit different from what we've come to expect from mainstream fantasy minis.

No offence, but I am flabbergasted that someone would consider this, for example, to be well sculpted. The proportions are off, the pose is unnatural (the elbows should be held close to the body and not stretched out.. is she meant to fly or stand on the ground? if the flying witch is based on the art, you can clearly see that it is nowhere near looking like that), the cloth hangs poorly and in part folds at wierd places or not at all, the face is having little of the standard human shapes.

Yes, I do agree that the sculpting could potentially be explained by the old wood cuttings and manuscript drawings, but even so they are, in my opionion, badly sculpted. But look at the manuscript drawing of the Demon Lord and then compare it to the actual sculpt. The manuscript drawing looks thin and creepy while the sculpt is having none of those proportions.

One of the reasons I'm considering this is because I like that fact that I can buy minis at under £2 a pop to use on the gaming table. Not every miniature needs to be an £10 display case masterpiece. £2 for a playing aid is fine with me.

Heheh, it's done and I pledged for it.

The Hell Mouth interests me, but I'll wait to see the model before adding it to my list.

For the others, I have an idea on how to use them.

In D&D and Pathfinder lore, demons are numerous because the different sins of a single soul gives birth to a bunch of different demons. But what if they didn't split up, and merged into the multi-faced abominations (because reasons)? Then I have a new class of demons that favor tormenting the living (why wait for the body to die to torture a soul?). Or I could have something like tieflings, but have more demon blood than mortal blood, effectively the "tainted by mortal blood" of Hell/Abyss, so they have anger issues.

Fully received after some delays in answering on my side.

I took the "Infernal Host" (12 demons) plus the unlocked bonuses (giant demon; demon lord; flying witch; Rocket Rutterkin; "Black Terrence" goat; imp), plus an extra for the demons with "Handgonnes".

22 minis altogether. All evil! ::D::devil:

If anybody here loves cavern terrain and missed DF's first cavern KS KS2, this spring/summer around June DF will have KS6. The theme of KS6 will be Return to the Caverns and should be great fun for those who took part in KS2 or those who are new to DF.

DF had this to say and showed the below teaser pics

We're doing for Caverns what Dungeon of Doom did for Dungeons. A whole new batch of fun pieces to enhance your existing collection, but also completely stand-alone.

      Some of the key features:
New Core Shapes (diagonal wall, convex curves, 1" pieces, etc)
      Passages
Elevation (with stuff that's impossible on graph paper...)
Negative Space pieces (and new Terrain Trays)
      Flashy Pieces (Magnets & LEDs)
      Large pieces (4x4 and larger)

This looks like a very interesting board game with lots of new, fresh ideas and cool artwork (and nice minis - there is even a pledge level for just the minis: around 15 of them for $20 plus shipping):

      About this project

Gloomhaven is cooperative game of card-driven combat set in a persistent fantasy campaign which will change and grow as you play the game.
There is always more to unlock and explore in the world of Gloomhaven.

If you missed the first Gloomhaven Kickstarter (and retail sold out quickly) here is your chance. I backed that game the first time around and could not be happier with the results. Warning ... that box is heavy ...
