Getting to Know Each Other = July Edition

Recommended Posts

The Frequently Ignored "Rules"
1. Every day, or so (unless I am out or ill or something) I will post a question.
2. In theory there is a 24 hour span to answer that question before the next question is posted.
2.5. (Rule 2 is the most frequently ignored rule.)
3. Questions are going to be posted between 2AM and 9AM GMT (London time).
3.5 (Rule 3 may be the 2nd most broken rule.)
4. Everyone is encouraged to suggest future questions to be posted via PM to me.
5. You do not have to answer every question to play...
6. If a question is TMI or N/A simply wait for the next question.. ..or post that you decline to answer (clues regarding why are always fun).
7. Weekend questions will take the form of  two or three day challenges, often starting on Fridays.

1st Question will be posted in a bit (had to wait so it didn't merge posts) ...and this month only... we start on the 3rd.

Question for July 3rd:

Lightsabers or Phasers?

Well, I'd probably kill myself with a lightsaber, so I'll say phaser.

Are they called phasers because they phase people out of existence?

I'm gonna pretend you sent this by PM  (as a suggestion for a future question ). <_<:poke:

Both, as they serve a different function.  "Set your lightsabers to stun" doesn't have quite the same ring to it.  OTOH, phasers are less useful for slicing cheese.

Aye, Dilvish has the right of it.  Plus it brings the intimidation factor with it . . . provided you don't mistakenly refer to it as a laser sword.

Question for July 3rd:

Lightsabers or Phasers?

Phasers.

  1. A Phaser is easier to conceal.
  2. Easier to carry around.
  3. Never bring a sword to a gunfight.
  4. Phasers come in handy handsized versions as well as in big cannons.
  5. Although stunning is the friendly setting, Desintegrate will beat everything.

Neither. I am just not all that fond of either  Star Wars or Star Trek.

So what your says is that hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster?

This is just straight up sad from every angle.

The reason it gets my attention is that many of us have visited this location. This happened on the parking lot attached to the venue ReaperCon used two years running.

It may have spilled out of a high-school party held in that same event Center. (That tidbit was in the TV news this evening.)

(Btw, The URL title/headline was not as accurate as it could have been but I guess that is an artifact of early less than accurate reporting. Woman is not so accurate: Amya Alane Batie was just 16.)
