I thought I'd try to keep a work in progress of the process I'm making in Bones 3.  I got distracted/bored during the Death Guard painting, and went back to some of the bones.

"Heeey you guuuys!"

The Fomorian just called to me.  He felt left out when I painted the other Giants, I guess.

A few more in the group process:

The wee folk.  Who would've thought one of my favorite pieces from Bones 3 would be a simple Thug?  I had to give him the classic heart tattoo.

Some more work on Mr. Fomorian:

The second of my projects from Bones 3 is complete:

Now, it's onto the next project!

The Savage Avatars.  I was really excited about this when they added them.  I've been reading "Elephantmen", in which three of the main characters are animal/human hybrids of...a Rhino, Elephant, and Hippopotamus.  Good inspiration!

I tried to give them distinct skin tones...Hippo skin is more involved than I thought!

The Kobolds.  I'm not very impressed with these guys, they're really tiny with shallow detail.  Not the winners of the Kickstarter...I liked the originals more.  But variety is good.

Last, the Undying Lords.  Great set, I love all the details!  I keep finding more exposed bones through armor and stuff, I feel I'll be touching these guys up over and over.

And the new few colors are added.

Merrow join the fray.  I had two due to the first having a miscast face, so he was converted with a weapon swap, arm repose, and his face carved out to be scarred instead.

As far as I know, the Bones Merrow are the first time they ever got a miniature!  Funny enough, the next D&D set has two, in their new evil Mermen look from 5E...very much like the Warcraft Naga.

I found the same thing when I painted the Hippo King.  there is a lot going on in the grey/purple/pink tones in different areas on a hippo.

It looks we ended up in similar places.   I didn't like the rhino as much as the others, but elephant guy is high on my list to tackle soon.

Thought I had posted this one already, but started a batch of Bones III monsters during the last hours of Bones IV.  I figured it would build up some karma.

The Orcs and Hobgoblins were added when I accidentally poured too much green paint.

Just thought i would put these up to show off the new party making their way through saltmarsh.  A party of six graduates from the civilized lands, roped into fulfilling a debt by their mentors.  At least they are working together...  they arent my finest work but for 6 hours of painting, they will do nicely for our little gaming group and the group enjoyed the surprise of coming to their second session to discover they all had custom painted minis!

      we have a Halfling fighter
an elven thief with a fixation for daggers
      a halfling bard
the blue dragonborn priest of Protos
the black Dragonborn warlock (had to create the head.  I couldnt find a dragonborn mini with an 8 strength...)
and a Human ranger from the backstreets and slums

hope you enjoy them, i dont know how long they will last....

      Here is my Callie.
I painted her as a second WIP for my BONES 1 attempts.
I really like the sculpt.  I painted her as a half-orc or orc.  She has some freckles, nice green gems, and some ivy freehand on the cloak.

Here is a link to the WIP.

      Enjoy.
      C&C Welcome.

Another villager from me. :) This is a 03856 Townsfolk: Courtesan

Got this one done at a painting day in about 3 hours of work, but interrupted by cups of tea. :)

I planned to go for the coloring suggestion on the box, except with brighter feathers. After base coat and a wash it seemed to turn rather plain. I keep the underside this way, while for the top side of the wings I started adding some variation to the feathers, gradually daring to add more detail and contrast. Took a while to get there, but in the end I was happy and called it finished. I even took a fun picture with it:

But now that I'm a few minis wiser, I demoted him from finished to lacking base. And this is where I am stuck now.

I had this plan of making a sandstone cliff looking base. I positioned him and started building up terrain, working carefully not to damage the finished mini. I colored some stones of various sizes in a few colors so I don't need to paint as much around the mini and I started to glue my rocks carefully around the base.

I kept working on it for hours thinking I am getting somewhere, but once I took a break and looked at it again from all sides... I stand by my rocks, I think in a few steps they'll look great, but the scene makes no sense. These are not cliffs, more like a stone quarry, what would a griffon be doing there? - that's too specific and unlikely.

Time to "delete" this somehow and start over... Wish me luck!

Following a couple trials to print these (really I was looking for things to print with the clear green resin and Necrons sprung to mind) I managed to get a good set of 6 printed up. Then the idea skittered across my brain that I should put a light in them...

So I have started painting them in the stereotypical dark+metal+green and picked up a small box of LEDs along with a coupe switches.

      Here’s the group shot.

A bit of Reaper Coal Black and some Vallejo Copper.  They need at least another coat.

Test with a green LED held inside.

Once they get a bit more paint on them, I’ll build up some bases to hide the following bits in them.

Hoping to get another coat of paint on them later tonight along with the start of some edge highlights, but I’m solo-parenting so we’ll see how the evening goes.
For now, it’s time to take the kids to their music lessons.

      Thanks for looking.
