I just made myself a wet pallette too. So far my biggest problem is remembering to shut it when I quit painting. I've been using it for a week and twice I've come back a day or two later to find it dried out.

Have you read about the tricks to prevent mold?  One is to change out the water frequently and to clean the sponge or change the paper towel.  You can add a little bit of bleach or other disinfectant to the water or sponge.  I've used Lysol spray for instance.  Another technique is to use copper wire or sheet in the wet palette.  If it is drying out, you could put it in a zip lock bag.  With my wet palette, I keep the water level a little below the parchment paper and add more water as necessary when it dries out.  As an aside, sometimes I'll put a well palette in a zipper bag with a sponge or a wet paper towel to keep it going a little longer.

I have stopped using it right now because I have not had the time to paint, but once my work area in the kitchen is organized, I'll give these tips a try. Much appreciated!

Day 13: Time to work on some skeletons! I count the Scarecrow as a Skellie Boss because of the amount of Bone showing. Painting the shield of the one on the far right was fun too.

 

Day 14: Mummies! I've modded these in minor ways, by cutting/twisting/regluing the arms and heads.

Day 15: More Skellies! I understand why people warned me about burn-out, which is why I saved Skellies and scenery for the half way mark.

 

So far I've killed 2 brushes, a bottle of brown liner, and I'm only half way! But a new bottle of brown liner arrived, so I can start prepping more human figures.

I am with you on this. The Quickshade in the can (dip) has some pros/cons, but I also suspect I won't use it on my Zombicide minis. I also don't like the need to use spirits to clean the brush or the two day drying time. That being said, I will likely use the Army Painter quickshade in the dropper bottles as they appear to be a water soluable ink that dries like normal acrilic paint and can be controlled easier. 

 

Your minis look outstanding...especially considering the short amount of time you spend on them.

 yes it is 77211 Gauntfield. I enjoyed painting him a lot with the fall color scheme.

2 hours on 5 minis and they look that good. I spent about 6 hours today on a single Mini (and it wasn't even a big one). In two weeks you have painted more minis than I have in uhhhhhh *counts pieces* ever. Holy moly I need to get faster! Very impressive how you keep at it!!!

I use a LOT of painters tricks. Like the bookshelves laid on my desk and for a week whenever I painted a color that would look good as book binding, then a few books got painted that color. If I have a medium to light shade of brown left over, it got slapped on a piece of wooden terrain. Later a wash of Walnut brown would bring out the wood grain. 

 

Blending in general  I have two options: wet blend (cloaks) or do shadow/mid/high then wash the area to smooth it out (skin).

 

These are just table top standard. Not display. The eyes have iris but not pupils. Often I don't bother painting in the mouths. No NMM and if sword gets a highlight it is because I had a lighter shade of metal on my palette.

Day 21: Sci Fi terrain  for when you're just too exhausted after work to care!

 

 

Day 22: A Paladin and a Necromancer walk into a bar...

 

 

Day 23: Did not photograph well.  I blame the Vampire.

 

Day 24: I was feeling like a Zombie after work, so...

 

Day 25: Payday!

 

 

Having terrain pieces in the final stretch definitely helped. Getting 2 hours of painting in after a work day isn't always easy... and I'm running low on prepped figures.

Day 26: feeling Reclusive...

 

Yes, I free handed those spiders to look like a brown recluse. My husband has forbidden me to leave those laying out!

 

Day 27: Knocked out some zombies before cleaning up my craft area.

I have been up since 3 am... at least I got some painting done.
