So I was experimenting with Taimaya clears and I wanted to share what I've painted so far.

I think the colors come out a little dark, but I love the jewel like gloss they dry to.

I am going to get me some Taimaya clear (with no color) and some Taimaya thinner and keep expirementing.

The Ghostly Summons has a few layers of Golden Glow over top to start building up some highlights.

And so does the NightSpectre.

Tamiya clear is just a topcoat like Testor's Glosscoat or Dullcoat. It'll dry like the other clears thou they do have a semi-gloss version as well. Just don't get Flat Base. You add that to existing paints to matte down the sheen. Unless you want that effect.

My worry with the glossy finish the Tamiya paints give is that there will be tackiness.  How do they feel?

I painted one of the new Hellhounds in the Wizkids unpainted lines & there is absolutely no tackiness to the paint. It's glossy & smooth.

On Bones, no tactiness noted. Just a jewel like shine.

Very interesting effects you've gotten.

Do you do anything special, or just use the Tamiya clears right on to the figure?

See above. But no. I paint them just like usual Bones. Paint straight on the mini, right after washing that is.
