Well, I finally got to a point on these where it would be worth it to post. These are my major projects that I will be working on for the next few months and all four are planned ReaperCon entries. Right now there is not much to see as they are just at the primer stage but the bases are built and also ready for paint. So from left to right we have the Dark Elf Assassin from Scale 75, Tarko from Scale 75's Fallen Frontiers line, Dark Sword's Wood Elf Warrior, and Reaper's own Crimson Herald.

Please excuse the blurry pics, I am cleaning my apartment and this was the best place to take pics.

Some REALLY cool pieces here, I can't wait to see how you paint them all up!!

Thanks! I will have further details later regarding the color schemes but as a little teaser, a couple may not be what you expect. ::D:

Basing & prepping minis is a stage in the process that I LOVE doing...I do a white over black base coat that looks to be very similar to your approach. SO I love what you have done thus far with your treasure trove of ubercool minis. Enjoy the rest of the process!

Yeah, I love basing, prepping not so much. Usually I have the base planned before I even decide what to do with the mini but I did have difficultly with the Dark Sword Elf and the Crimson Herald this time. For the Elf, I did not want to do a typical foresty base for her mostly because I did not want to do a typical paint job on her. Once I figured out the paint scheme, the basing fell into place. For the Crimson Herald, I just had him and some skulls on the resin base which is a Town Square with steps base from Secret Weapon. While I liked the base, it seemed to be missing something but I was not sure what. I contemplated water effects but was not feeling it. One flash of inspiration later, I added the dirt and stumps and now it is perfect for me.

Been working on other things at the moment but I have done some time with Tarko. His skin is mostly done, just a few minor tweaks and I have gotten color down on his armor. He was a little camera shy and so the photo does not do him justice. I am really happy with the contrast which did not show up well in the photo.

Wonderful work. I am absolutely looking forward to seeing them finished.

Thanks! Same here, hopefully I can get them all finished in time.  Luckily I am off for a few days next week and will try to get a lot done during that time.

I'll be waiting. I mean it. Exactly in this position in front of my PC. Like Sgt. Murtaugh on his toilet. All week long. Challenge accepted :-D

I will try to not keep you waiting too long. I do know one of the days will be dedicated to building the bases for my Open entry and my two Diorama entries. I also have to put together a desk for my airbrush set up. So much to do and so little time.

Been slowly working on things. Tarko's skin and eyes are done and I have been working on the elf.

Further efforts to produce a dozen dragons this year brought me out to the desert sands where even dragons new to worry about being spotted if they want a decent meal.  To this end desert dragons are campflaged to look like the ground from above and the sky from below.

      Hope you enjoy him

I haven’t been on the forum much this year.  Since joining Anne Foerster’s Patreon I’ve been spending more time on Discord.

I’ve been painting this guy following the paintalong she’s done for one of the tiers.  It’s the first time I’ve tried to do a “display quality” paint job.  Other firsts are NMM, freehand, leather texture, cloth texture, and sculpted base elements.

I actually started this guy early this year, but then stopped painting altogether for about 4 months after the pandemic started.  I picked him back up in July and am getting close to finishing.  I’m posting a series of pics I’ve taken as I went, and will continue to post as I finish him up soon.

Feb 29: prepped and primed, with some minor GS work

      Mar 1:  base GS sculpting

      — LONG BREAK —

Aug 2:  skin lined, basecoated, and shaded

      Aug 6:  skin initial highlights

Here is my take on the Dance of Death sculpt from the Bones 4 Kickstarter.

I really enjoyed this one,  finishing it up this last winter. I saw someone mention somewhere online that they were bummed that the heads didn't exactly line up, but I found it reminiscent of dogs when they are snarling while looking sidelong at each other.

Apologies for the scratches and discolorations on the background. I've been meaning to pick up some black cloth to improve that.

      Thanks for taking a look!

I have done about 15 minis over the past year (starting with the Learn to Paint kit), after taking a 30+ year break from painting lead with Testors enamel. Each one I try to learn or improve one technique. This one I focused on pose & basing (took a little surgery to get rid of the pudding base and shape all the claws). The 'rock' is a chunk of bark. Any comments, critiques, questions or suggestions are welcome. Between this forum and YouTube, I am amazed on the knowledge and information available, in an overall great community. Getting ready for Bones V delivery!
