Or perhaps like Kaladrax there was a miscommunication.....

Shame that this miscommunication was not in the customers' favor...

Well, there were two parts of the Kaladrax mishap. The first was that Kaladrax was too big, which worked out in favor of those who ordered Kaladrax. The other is that Nethyrmaul had to be shrunk to save on materials costs, so Nethyrmaul ended up far too small compared to what was originally planned. They put out a "full-sized, as intended" Nethyrmaul resin a few years back and it's freaking massive.

I don't exactly blame Reaper, though. They've still got to pay for materials and Kickstarters aren't exactly huge profit engines.

Could we maybe have a comparison shot from one of Mal's heads and Argent's one? If the heads are roughly the same size it would be ok for me,  as she does have a more upright pose, but yes, him being smaller isn't great.

I'm a little disappointed that Argent is smaller, but he is still a really nice dragon and I really like the sculpt, so I'm happy.

I'm not sure what they could do about it...

BEGIN SPECULATION

I wonder if the wings could have been the deciding factor. Like I mentioned before, they're enormous, and take up a lot of surface area when flat.

END SPECULATION

I know that things can and do change up until the finished models arrive at Reaper; however I do agree that knowing before he got to me that his size would be so different would have been nice.

Gotta say, I love how his head turned out though, that's my favorite part of the whole sculpt. He looks like a wise, patient grandfather who also won't put up with any of your nonsense.

Huzzah!

Have you picked him up??? He'd kill a small animal as heavy as he is. He is solid, maybe he worked out and bulked up so he's not a slouch??? I think if they upped his size, it would be way too heavy and unwiedly.

Perhaps. I'm hesitant to speculate further without additional data. I think I might tune into the next Reaper Live to ask about it. I'll report back here if my question gets picked. :)

Okay, I'm back from the dentist. Time to do my Fan Favorites expansion post! :bday:

Looking back at the pic i see your point. darn shame i love the sculpt. like Oneboot i will try and ask on Reaperlive tonight. Thanks for clearing that much appreciated.

If I am on and they answer me:rock: I'll ask as well. Honestly, there have been a lot of changes, like Thunderhoof's base removal (i'll ask that as well)

Pretty much done spot checking all the add-ons (going back and cutting everything off the sprues and rebagging if needed) BUT still have the core set extras to do as well as all the expansions (minus the Chronoscope expansion which I just finished). So far my only issue has been the hands on the two headed troll.

By the way, what are you guys doing with your left over sprues?

Borrowing OneBoot's picture again, the head looks a bit smaller than Ma'al's lower left head. It's somewhat comparable, I suppose, but it does look a bit smaller still.

From the picture, it looks like Ma'al is on a taller base. I don't have Argent in hand to compare though.

I think I would use two pairs of 3/8" cylinder x 1/4" thick (approximate) neodymium magnets per leg, installed with opposite polarity per pair. This should give you the holding strength for the hut and the opposite polarity pairs would index the legs correctly every time. Probably set the magnets in epoxy in the recesses on each side, place the legs in place for curing, and use wax paper to keep the legs from sticking to the hut until curing is complete.

Looking at closely, this is exactly what I would do, if I were so inclined.

The sockets on the hut side are pretty deep - about a 1/2".  The legs are fairly shallow where I cut it - about 1/8" but there is definitely enough material that you could drill out two holes for slightly thicker magnets if you were careful.

The other option I thought about if I couldn't get the legs off would be designing a "hill" the hut could sit on.

When does Reaper Live start, will there be an episode this week with all the other stuff Reaper is working on now?
