Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

I reckon minimum we're two weeks away from minis in hand if you're waiting on that last container (as I am). It still needs to ship by rail supposedly, go through Dallas customs, get to Reaper, get unloaded/organized, then everything needs pulled/shipped, and of course travel time to your home. Then of course you have to acknowledge that two weeks is a sunshine and rainbows estimate with a month probably being more realistic.

I think that best case is better than that. Last we heard was that the ship was still on time for arrival in LA on the 16th. Best case would be a quick unload and onto a train, a few days train travel to Dallas, and a short time in customs. I'll not speculate on a date for arrival in Denton, because that could be inflammatory and my actual knowledge is exactly what Reaper has published. The rest is speculation.

But "not less than two weeks" is speculation as well, and not based on any more actual information.

The real answer right now is that we have no idea when early-wave shipment will recommence and pulling dates out of ... the air isn't really very helpful.

Wow! I didnt know the hut was stopping wave 1 orders. were the quantities that low or was the demand high? I do some slavic/russian fantasy gaming and baba yaga is a central figure for evil but I didnt go after the hut.

I speculate that demand was high, which prompted a production order for more huts (and giants, and trees), but that the production run completed and shipped substantially later than hoped for.

Unfortunately, that means that many US orders which included huts have not shipped yet.

My guess... based on the reaper live and updates we received before hand.

Production was delayed on the 3 Items. Reaper wasn't aware that those items hadn't shipped yet. Production was scheduled to start, So they ordered enough to get them through rest of the world shipping.. This was sent by an alternate means (air?). They received enough to get shipping started. They began shipping with the hopes that by the time they finished with RoW and Canada, the missing items that were being sent by regular means would arrive.

Shipping went faster than they anticipated. Even with the delay in setting up the US ware house to ship, they knew they did not have enough but were not out of time to wait for the real shipment. So, They did have some left of the emergency (air?) palette so began shipping. They unfortunately (and expectedly) ran out.

I don't think any of this had anything to do with actual demand. Just poor communication from China, and wishful thinking on how fast the main order of the delayed stuff would arrive.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to try migrating the Roc to a clear flight pole, but I suspect I'll need something substantial and rigid. Ideally clear, still. Anyone got any particular suggestions?

While Acrylic has a slightly higher transparency, I would use Poly-carbonate as it is much stronger.

Anybody else having trouble figuring out where to start?

When you get a new KS, start with terrain. They're the easiest pieces to paint.

Then, of course, when your next KS miniatures come in, drop whatever KS you're painting, and start painting the pieces of the next set.

Time this right, and your painting will also be easy. You'll have nothing but terrain, but it'll be easy. :upside:

I have a weird question, how many fingers does the dancer in the towns people set have?

She's dressed like *that* and you only care about her *fingers*???

Yeah, she only has three fingers (and one thumb) on each hand. Original concept art based on old-school Disney cartoons, I guess. <_<

I still have a bunch of Bones 3 humanoids and a Ma'al Drakar to paint, but I am feeling a strong urge to paint Mossbeard ASAP. But I'm going to go nuts on his base, cover it with foliage, some wile animals like a deer and stuff, and I need to get some bits for it still... But I really am looking at that one as my next project, whenever I get around to being in a situation to paint again.

New update has posted.

That looks like good news. Hopefully that last container gets there soon and they can restart the wave one fulfillment. After that I bet it will be quick to catch up.

It's funny. I can deal with Kickstarter delay's all day. Container running late? Meh... no sweat. Delay the game for extra QA? Sure! I'd rather get a working game than a buggy mess. But once it's in the hands of the postal service I get antsy. I'm sure UPS 'Sure Post' was the most economical choice, but once UPS hands it off to USPS it's now 'Parcel Select' and I have no estimated delivery date. 2-8 days says USPS but that's for the lower 48, if you're in Alaska or Hawaii it may 'take much longer'.

This package will never be late, nor will it be early! It will arrive precisely when it means to! HARUMPH.

As I backed Brayan's previous KS but never got my files (I got a email in regards to this KS) but a quick email response & I had my file that I backed + a bonus file. Love the look on the minis. The goblins can be new PC gobs for ReaperCon We Be Goblins. Love the Oriental dragon as well.
