Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

It is not there.

So that means they need to send me a new Djinni then?

The dress ends and there is a sort of pin at the end of the base, so miscast?

Here is the photo from from one of the Reaper updates

you can see the lamp at the end of the plume. If yours doesn’t have that then yes yours is a defective sculpt.

Ok. So I guess If the rock cliff from Dance of Death was missing, since I would still have... let's say about 80% of the mini I would have the same solution: give the dragons back or build a base myself. I understand your point, I understand reaper's, I'm just saying I find it really lacking. Particularly given the miniature will be sold eventually on the site I assume, and according to what I've been told, sold without that base. If we were talking about just a base similar to that of the Tree of Despair, that can be displayed without any base, no problem. Here it unbalances the miniature. That's all.

I really don't want to make it bigger than it is: I understand it. It's just not nice.

that is different. The rock for dance of death is a important part of hte mini, the dragons can't sit on it without it, and it's not exactly something you can just fix yourself

the base for your elephant is incredibly easier to mod onto your mini than trying to find a way to make dance of death work without the rock

i'm simply pointing out you are throwing this fuss about a simple base. it's not somethign super elaborate like the DOD rock, or integral to a mini's apperance like a genie base. It's a flat base, just there to stabilize a mini that can exist without it

If a miniature did not fill properly in the mold, is missing some part that others of the same stock number, has a nasty mold gate problem not present on others of the same SKU, or whatever, that's a defect and Reaper will happily replace the miniature. If the miniature was delivered in the form that Reaper intended but you are unhappy with that miniature, that is not a defect*. Reaper is very good about correcting defective products.

* Note that we've discussed differences between advertised and delivered versions above in this thread at some length. There are arguments to be made on both sides and I've made some of them, but it's clear that there's a difference between those sorts of differences and defects.

Mine doesn't have that. The small end of the smoke and the lamp are not there.

I really don't want to keep arguing about that: but unless you're telling me Reaper intended to deliver Lord of The Jungle without a base (therefore, unbalanced), it is a defective figure, no matter how easy to fix (and let me tell you, I can mold a base easy, but to get the same decorative knots as the rest of the throne is an entirely different matter). And remember, apparently it will be eventually sold like that: not balanced, base missing. Bubles, mold lines, even some minor damage are to be expected and part of the process of cleaning a miniature before painting it. Having to mold a base because without it it's not stable, that's not.

Sorry for the fuss.

Then this will be be last I will say on it since you do not want to discuss it

I do not disagree it is defective. I do disagree with the idea that they are being unfair in requesting the miniature back in return for a refund. That is standard procedure for returns normally, and I can understand it applying to this case because what you are missing is not a super important huge piece of the miniature. Small parts missing from a mini are sent a replacement but one is obviously not available for your mini. You still have the main part of the mini, so it makes sense why they would ask for it back before refunding.

They offered you a full refund in return for the mini, or you can try to fix the base and live with it. They obviously cannot cast the base and send it out to everyone or thay woild have been an option

you yourself said they are good at customer service, so I would think there is a reason they cannot do that, and a reason why they need the mini returned in order to issue a refund.

Well... official answer: they will issue a refund... if I return the miniature. And it's not to be expected a 3d print or a corrected figure to be released.

Apparently it's just an inherent risk of the KS. Which may be true, but its not a really nice thing to do for a company as customer friendly as Reaper is. Quite disappointed.

Does anyone have a picture of the King of the Jungle (elephant man on throne) that shows the base?  I'm curious to see how detailed it was supposed to be.  I don't see it on the Bones 4 images page: https://www.reapermini.com/bones4

Then it's not a defect. It might well be a sculpt that you are unhappy with.

There are sculpts in this project about which I feel the same. It's a cost of Kickstarter.

And with that, I'm out of this discussion.

I got an email ( auto generated it seemed) with an apology.

It is very busy and they assure that they will tackle the problem as soon as possible.

They ask to be patient and not email again before two weeks have passed.

No problem, I can wait.

From earlier Bones Kickstarters I know Reaper will send me a replacement.

Just wait...

Phew..luckily I have "some" minis I can paint while I wait..

Does anyone know about when the sets from the KS will go on sale? I just didn't order the skeletal monsters and am thinking about the fan favorites for a new game that starts tonight, so the sooner I could order the better. Without using Ebay, cause my goodness those resellers are expensive.

Reaper has said that it will be after all the packages have shipped from Australia. They have not said how long after. The container for Australia was supposed to arrive in Australia on Saturday, then it would have to clear customs, get to the reshipper's facility, and then the packages be sent out.

In part, this time window is driven by the need to be able to satisfy any problems in KS project fulfillment. In part it's driven by the desire not to be selling KS product while supporters are still waiting for reward shipment.

They have also said that the numbers will be "limited". No indication what that actually means.
