Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Does anyone know about when the sets from the KS will go on sale? I just didn't order the skeletal monsters and am thinking about the fan favorites

Sets that I would expect to see up for sale once they are ready will be the Core and the Expansions, any thing else will be retail release.

An add-on, for example those skeletal monsters referenced above, would be sold individually retail, not as a grouping.

This statement is based on past experience from previous projects as a former employee not based on current information loop.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but my search-foo is weak and I was unable to find it..

Is there a list of who sculpted what in Bones IV ?

It is not there.

So that means they need to send me a new Djinni then?

The dress ends and there is a sort of pin at the end of the base, so miscast?

Mine had the same issue; the lamp simply wasn't there. It looked like it had gotten snapped off before bagging, the connection is pretty thin.

I emailed and was issued a replacement.

Huzzah!

Thanks for posting the ^ 2nd picture. I had been reading everyone’s comments about this without **entirely understanding.

I reccomend one row of Hirst Arts bricks placed under his feet to fix this. Simple.

**I still do not understand the balance issue though. Does the ElephantKing  topple forward out of the throne if it is not glued in place..?

It does topple forward, yes. But the balance issue is due to that... tab (sorry, not sure about the correct word: not a native speaker) made to be introduced into the base. It's irregular, so the throne is not flat on the bot. Again, easy to fix, yes.

Away from my box o' doom, but did this Bones KS include 3" round bases like Bones 3 did?

If so, flip the base upside down, blue tack/poster putty to hold the throne in place, then fill with sand mixed with white glue.

Let dry, then pull the throne out again - it should leave a socket that you can use to hold the throne after painting and finishing the base.

I might use green stuff to make a tiled base, instead of the sand/glue mix, but the theory remains the same.

I have looked over my pledge and what I got.

On the subject of bases it went all over the place.

I know for which ones I pledged, and it seems I got more of one kind and less of another kind.

In the end I will not ask for correction on this, but it seems someone just tossed in a bunch of bags of bases and hoped for the best.

I got so many round bases / bags of flying stands suddenly, and some other bases are missing.

Anyway...not a real problem, just odd.

I think I will put some of those excess bases in BOGW's / Care Packages and such.

That might mean the base needs to be dipped in boiling water to flatten it.

My Lord of the Jungle sits completely flat. When you place the throne, then the Lord, he tips forward with his feet flat on the ground & he is rising to peer down at whoever he is looking at. Perfect mini.  If you push him back into the chair it looks like he is doing arm dips. Which totally ruins the look of the mini.

Granted if the mini came with the round base like Micheal Proctor's example it would be nice but that is easily constructed. To be honest I kinda like him without the round base.

But - despite the "Risks" section on the KS main page - I feel such changes need good communications. It's simply poor form to change things and then say "Well, look at the risks section". They told us about the base of the Barge very soon (though as far as I remember not that it might get scrapped completely otherwise), but the other changes were not communicated well. KS IS about trust and while Reaper has earned quite a bit of it with the way they are generally handling their Kickstarters, such trust is also easily squandered.

When they initially made the announcement about the removal of the base, there was miscommunication there, too. I and a few other backers tried without success to clarify if they "lost souls" they were supposedly replacing the base with were in addition to the "lost souls" already advertised or not, and were basically castigated by KS commentators for trying to clarify it. That was one of the many points where communication with Reaper went seriously to the dogs.

As for Argent, I'm seriously considering just selling mine on a certain auction site.

His size was reduced, and he lost a lot of detail. But it was have him at reduced size or not have him at all and be refunded, Reaper chose to have him reduced

i'll keep mine, he will stil make a massive red dragon which is what i had planned, even if he isnt' as massive as he was supposed to be

either he lost detail, or he's just a very 'soft' dragon when he was sculpted and printed. HIs wings, his claws, there is very little there. Painting his wings is going to be a bother because it's just big stretches of featureless plastic

though this is why julie guthrie will always be my favorite dragon sculptor

I haven’t backed any of Bears Heads kickstarters yet, but I’ve been tempted by everyone.
This is the one that I give in to.
      https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/98300108/narthoks-the-excellent
But hurry! It’s funded with ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT!

As nice as that sculpt is, it’s the sci-fi and bartender versions I’m most excited about. The stretch goals for those have been reached, but only concept drawings are available to show.

I think these are great unique looking eye beasts.
@TheAuldGrump maybe something you could use for your campaign?

Here we are in 2015, the 40th Anniversary of Chaosium as a game company. In a few months Glorantha, Greg Stafford's fantasy game world, celebrates its Golden 50th anniversary. We feel the time is right to bring the celebrated classic second edition of RuneQuest back into print. Gaming is going through a bit of an Old School renaissance as of late, and we want RuneQuest to be a part of it. We hope you’ll join in on the fun!

      REWARDS:
The RuneQuest Hardcover Book - is 144 pages. It will have sewn binding. It contains all the 2nd edition text, but with all the errata incorporated where it belongs. Additional material has been added to the appendices at the end. If you want more than one copy of the book, add another $30 for each additional book to the level you are backing.

The RuneQuest Leatherette Hardcover Book - is 144 pages. It is in red leatherette with gold foil stamps on the front and spine. It has a color dust jacket. If you want more than one copy of the book, add another $50 for each additional book to the level you are backing.

The Player Handouts - are 20 pages of reference material for the players to use during character creation and ongoing play.

The GM Screen - is two 11 inch x 17 inch (very close to A3 paper size) color cardstock panels with handy charts and tables from the Rulebook on the GM side, and classic Luise Perrene art on the Player Side.

The Old School RQ Source Pack - consists of four of the earliest RQ1/RQ2 supplements published: Militia & Mercenaries, Scorpionmen & Broos, Trolls & Trollkin and the Balastor's Barracks scenario. Each is about 16 pages in length with a color cardstock cover. If you want more than one copy of this Source Pack, add another $50 for each additional Source Pack to the level you are backing.

The Runequest Playtest Manuscript book - is a 250+ page hardcover book created from high resolution scans of the original playtest manuscript. This manuscript is the only known set of playtest notes in existence which were lovingly kept in a binder for the last 40 years. This playtest material was used to create the first edition of RuneQuest. It includes newly written introductory essays by Steve Perrin and Greg Stafford. Here's a few pictures of the original:

The 2 volume "Unpublished Scenarios and Source Material" set - is two hardcover books with hundreds of pages of unpublished RuneQuest material by Greg Stafford and other early authors. It includes a fair bit of Sorcery rules for the West, the Howling Tower scenario set in the Upland Marsh, as well as a wide range of other material, esoteric and otherwise. We will describe it in more detail in the comments section and the FAQ. This reward is only available as part of this Kickstarter.

Into old school RPGs, love Glorantha/Runequest ?

then this one is a great choice

SITHRAH is a sci-fi about a little girl trying to find her father after their plane crashes in a unfamiliar land. That's when she starts seeing an invisible creature, called SITHRAH, who has been following her around. It's not long until she runs into a young man named Dino who is running from his own ghosts. Together they set out to find her missing father wherever the evidence leads.
Book 4 will focus on their journey across The Deep to try to find Light City.
This series will be 6 books long.
Sithrah has been a big experiment with the comic format by mixing subtle prose with comic panels. My hope is to blur the lines between comics, children's books, and novels without making it jarring for the reader.
Most of my inspiration comes from the comic artists of the 90's when I refined my drawing style. Later I became influenced by Miyazaki's movies and storytelling and have been trying to make comics that have a similar depth and feeling.
