I gave it a shot (or two) :P

After looking at all the translucent pics I'm thinking the only way to get the details to show up on the raw [unpainted] figures is to put them on a light table with the areas in front and back [and between figures if it can be arranged {maybe by setting the figs on top of a piece of opaque paper with a hole under the mini base}].

Anyone care to experiment?

For shooting clear/translucent subjects, your best bet is usually to put your key light in back, put something dark on either side, and put a fill light (down 2 or more stops from the background) on either side at about a 45° angle off the line from camera to subject.

Oh, and you'll want to set your exposure manually, because that kind of lighting tends to confuse the computer in your camera.

My attempt to bend my dance of death dragons to be face to face instead of roaring at each other’s right wings

it seems like the top dragon just needs a slight bend to look the other dragon in the face, but boiling isn’t fixing it so trying something different. The box holds its head up while argent’s heavy wings put pressure on the body. In the current position the dragons face each other so hopefully it sticks. I’ll leave them like hay for a fair while and see what happens.

Worse case scenario is they just list back to roaring at each other’s wings

Actually, you could do what I do: do a light wash of green/blue green (GW has some really nice technical paints just for that), let it dry, then do a really light couple of dry brushes of green over top. I've got a step by step with one of the translucent wraiths from Bones 1 somewhere if you want to see it. Turns out well!

And, I got my Bones today!! Already have the dinosaurs assembled, along with about half of the barge assembled as well. Even sat down with my 4 year old and showed her how to assemble the Rocky dragons (which she LOVED). Happy day!

Am I crazy or does the strap on the male Ruler of Hell go right through where his wing mounts?

EDIT: Actually after a closer look, yes it does:

But with all the bits attached, it's not obvious:

And here's the back and side views of the female too, just because:

There's 3 parts to assemble on her back, and as I learned the hard way, they layer over each other. So, attach the left leg first. Next, attach the sword/tail piece to the head piece, then attach the head piece to the legs piece.

You could attach the left leg last, I suppose, but it will be easier without the sword in the way.

I tried to do an inventory of the Core set tonight.

I was not properly prepared. I've got bags with both bagged figures and loose figures. I'm going to need some small bags now, since I'm not an assembler type person. That, or a lot of squishing one figure to where I can see it in the bag, check it off the list, then try to find the next one.

Or more simply, tape the bag after opening it. Yeah. The simple solution always comes to me after I've complained about things.

I was lucky enough that all the little resealable baggies in my Fan Favorites and Dreadmere expansions were very nearly enough for every multipart mini in both those two sets AND the Core. I did end up assembling a small handful that only needed a single piece attached so that I didn't need to go buy more.

 She's so beautiful. I think this is the figure I'm most excited for. It's almost enough to make me wish I'd gotten two, even though I don't like painting the same thing twice.

Could always light it the way I did my wraith:

Finished inventorying all my minis. nothing missing, no doubles. I am happy I did expansions first because I was able to reuse the zip bags for the core set. Ill check for miscasts later this week and next, and at the same time do minor gluing. So far pretty happy all around, no disappointment other than I should have got more square bases, maybe bases in general. Supper happy with the grey scheme as I CAN SEE DETAIL!!!! As opposed to the blinding light that is white bones. A few minis of course need repositioning. Now the fun part of checking for miscasts is Ill get an opportunity to see what minis I want to clean and start painting.

Only thing i had to fix was the cave spider from darkreach, front right leg broke off, oh and does anyone know if the spider is glued on, only because painting the base and it separate would be great, or placing the spider on any terrain other  than the base.
