Griffon and Wyvern will probably be available seperate when they break up the core set.

DRAGON TURTLE!!!!

This is probably a stupid question (I'm good at those), but what's this about breaking up the core set?

Problem with that is I believe Bryan stated in one of the comments that OneBoot is posting that Gauth is going to retail for around $30. That's a third of the KS pledge cost. It makes the undesired parts of the core set nearly disposable.

I said nearly! Hush.

Personally, I'm wondering if sending the undesired figures off to eBay would defray a large portion of the costs of the core. If I don't get lazy about it, and let the figures gather dust on the desk.

I am actually surprised goth will be MSRP for $29.99. I thought he was bigger than BrightFang and the like and they are $29.99. I would have thought he would be $39.99.

Well anyways, I'm getting the core set regardless. So it's all good.

And the core right now is $1.25 per mini. So that's $1.25 for Gauth.

But hey, maybe you say "Hey, I can get kobolds 2 for $2.99, that not a good deal, and I don't really want kobolds anyways"

Well, Reaperbyran has posted else where saying they count Gauth as ~10 human sized minis, because his mold costs about 10 human sized minis. So if we count Gauth as 10 minis that means we have 89 minis in the core set making the math...

$1.12 for each mini, and Gauth being $11.26. Which I think is a fantastic deal.

And Soon™ we will also have the griffon and the wyvern. Which is $1.22 / mini, or $1.10 w/ Gauth being $10.98 if counted as 10.

Still, people have to decide for themselves where their value lies. But you can always sell the ones you don't like on ebay... or chop them up into bits and scatter their remains at the feet of your Ginormous dragons.

It might keep going for awhile. It's already up to $867k

Sort of. We're only up by close to $6 k this hour - which is really really good, but not the speed immediately after the bump.

We expect to see the evening average faster than the morning, and things to gradually slow down as people spend their weekend gaming, with family, or whatever people do.

maybe i'll get 3 sets of that Rocky red dragon. They'd make cute gifts

Yeah, when I told my mom I was buying two sets her response was "only two? You have to paint some for me!"  She's already called dibs on the one with the dragonfly.

Later in the campaign you will be able to buy parts of the core set separately, like the 24 goblins or so grouped together.

The goblins are the one thing they won't let you buy separately. There is a quote from Bryan around here somewhere stating they don't sell existing bones in the KS to protect their retailers, except for the bonus minis they add to the core sets. However, they don't see those as a group when they break apart the core set. But I didn't readily come across the exact quote.

I'm still struggling to up my enthusiasm, partly because the current minis on offer aren't doing it for me (with the exception of the Trolls), and partly because I'm still in a strange Bones 3 limbo where I'm really looking forward to them arriving and Bones 4 doesn't really seem relevant.

Baby red dragons, dice men and minitaurs = too much cutsie

I think that last hour or two might have skewed the projection for the time to reach the next goal.  Unless it keeps going!

That is why there is both the 24 hour average and the last hour average.

Official answers from Reaper below:

Quote

@Matthew - We typically do not break up the Core Set until the final week or thereabouts.

Quote

Any chance of making the previous Bones Core Sets available as add-ons?

-

@Paint Monk - That is not planned, and would seriously undermine our retailers and hurt future sales. Our lifeblood is your store, and we cannot afford that kind of action

Quote

I personally would like to see a core set without goblins and kobold.

-

@Chris Spitz - be aware that we're not making a version of the Core without these items, and we're not removing any future goblin/kobold plans from the set

Huzzah!
