It has irritated me for years that a certain company MAKES Yuan-Ti, but makes them a major pain in the bahonkus to obtain.

Just goes to show: if you leave a hole in your market, and there is demand, someone else will come along and fill the hole.

i don't mind hybrtids or were-animals having mammal glands, really. It's when things that are definitely NOT any part mammal having them that i tend to dislike it a tad =P

Theres a practical side to it as well. As a mammal I have a hard time distinguishing female from male snakes. Using mammal characteristics helps me distinguish as a GM or player which is which.

Lizards with Mammary glands does drive my Bionerd OCD nuts.

However, I instantly know the one wielding magic is female.

And they are humanoid snake hybrids... Maybe they need to nurse their young after they hatch from eggs. *shrug* idk. Could be legit.

Platipuses lay eggs and suckle. The world is weird.

So if we look at core set value with these 9 apes and not Yuan-ti lock, it puts us at 91 figures in the core set. That puts us at $1.09 per mini.

However, not all minis are equal in size. So I did a rough standardization to help evaluate each mini based on size. If it was human it counted as 2, small as 1, large 3, even larger than large (or slightly large with wings) 4, And Gauth 10. With the upcoming unlocks, that gives us 180 'parts' total over all the 91 models. 100/180 gives us $0.55.

Meaning one way you could look at the core set is you would be getting every:

Small mini @ $0.55

Medium mini @ $1.11

Large mini @ $1.67

Larger mini @ $2.22 (this includes the Griffon)

Gauth @ $5.56

Which to me isn't a bad deal at all, for any mini in that set. However, depending on what you value, your own mileage may vary.

Oh sure, be all practical from a gaming and tabletop perspective.

I remain amused, but your point is well taken.

Well, there are some snakes that give birth to live young.  Two classes of such according to the internet.

The first (of which I was aware) is not actually live birth, but the "shell" is basically nothing and is destroyed immediately upon birth.  This includes garter snakes and some vipers.

The second (of which I have only just become aware) are actually considered "true" live births and deal with things like placental sacks.  This includes snakes like boa constrictors and anacondas.

Look at it this way. Dragons are generally somewhat consistent. Not every artist manages to make them look like they can fly, but that's not the dragon's fault.

Humanoid reptilian races? Not so much. On the one hand, they're reptiles; they hatch from eggs, they're largely independent the moment they're hatched, they eat the same things the adults eat; as long as they can catch them.

But their females have mammalian features that .. they.. don't .. need? Why? The navel is where the umbilical was connected. A creature hatched from an egg wouldn't have that. Baby reptiles don't drink milk, their mothers don't give them milk - at best, they regurgitate whatever they ate last - so why would the females have breasts?

It's inconsistent, and it's the inconsistency that bugs me. :/

Like I said I have heard the argument too many times. You presuppose that all the snake beings are born from eggs.Evolution/mixed with magicatill takes an earthly path in your setting that's cool. I respect that. we have different consistencies. In my setting female human all share female human traits. As for  having  parts that  have no purpose, vestigiality  IS a part of earth evolution who is to say that on some planet reptiles evolved from mammals?? just devil advocate..... :)

Naturally; gotta start with something, right?

If there's nothing telling you otherwise, you kind of have to go with what you know - which is ... well, nature is /strange/. But generally consistent, where it is consistent; most reptiles lay eggs, for example. If you run it differently, sometimes - usually - it needs to be spelled out. Sometimes explained. I generally go with 'if it lays eggs, it probably has broad hips, but not necessarily breasts'.

I just wish a few sculptors would also adopt this habit; save me a lot of time. ^^;

I didn't know that about some snakes having live births, that's cool. I learn the best trivia from you guys...

Man Thes Hunter, and I thought I had "too much time on my hands" ::P: Really though, much appreciated, this helps justify my need to buy core set:rolleyes:

I think we are not that far off... But I start as a place. My consistency is that female Humanoids will share traits. I love me some science, but when magic is introduced science id thrown out the door. I just don't see the need to hold fast to Evolution and Biology when Newtonian Physics  are totally disregarded. I don't think i will ever change your  mind, but some people like their snake boobs....besides its not like chain mail bikinis, which are just dumb
