Howdy! Welcome to the thread, and the crazy fun world of Reaper Kickstarters!

I have to say my my favorites so far are the Dire Crab, and the Land Terrapin and his Handler.

while they aren't my favorite, I am really excited about both of those

So I added up the stuff listed with a price that I would like to have and I'm at $404, and that doesn't include the newly unveiled things like the dragons fighting.

I'm going to have to come up with a cunning plan to pay for all this.

$404 Pledge Not Found?

I don't know if this question has been asked or answered in another location but I am curious as to why/how Bones minis are "expensive to produce" and yet are so inexpensive? I mean I get the mass production of PVC products allow for cost efficiency, but what aspect is expensive? Is it the molding process? Is it the design phase?

This is just pure interest, not a commentary or anything.

Molds for plastic need to be tooled out of metal and cost tens of thousands of dollars each.

But raw plastic is super cheap.

It's the reverse for metal minis. Vulcanized rubber molds cost (I think) somewhere in the hundreds of dollars to produce but pewter is way expensive and getting moreso as world markets scarf up tin etc.

For those of you keeping track of the numbers, have we seen an overall bump in backers this weekend since the live broadcast, (compared to other weekends)?

I just noticed we were already less than $20,000 from the next stretch goal, and it seemed like the pledge total was rising at a pretty good clip.

Is there any chance we could have a collection of 'Ron Reads' audio books as a stretch goal? The man has some serious smooth going on.

Not sure why, but whenever I join the KS comments it all goes quiet. Maybe a potent mix of my menacing writing style and sexual prowess silences others.

Maybe I'm just not likable

Yesterday was on track to be a slow day until the Live Stream. The two hours leading up to it we particularly low. The day finished strong, especially for a weekend...and Gen Con at that.

I had the same thought about the Hill Giant.  It would have been so cool to have a hill giant HUNTRESS with her pet cat. And that seems like such an appropriate role for a giantess in keeping with Reaper's general division of labor. The female monsters are usually casters, but I can't imagine something as dumb as a hill giant wielding magic or even shamanism. So "taking care of large toothy cat" seems like the perfect job for a female hill giant.

I'm happy getting more giants no matter what, but I do really hope we get some fighting giantesses somewhere in the KS.

@Argentee you did an outstanding job taking over where I left off.

Thanks!

More than once I've had someone propose that I take hobby X and turn it into a business.

I have done the math repeatedly (on various hobbies) and learned WAY more than I ever wanted to about business accounting. And I have firmly decided to keep my 40 hour/week job with benefits and leave my hobbies as HOBBIES.

@TGP and @Argentee did a good job on explaining the difference in price. I'll mention that once you have a cost for the figure, including production, packaging, and shipping to somebody who will pay you, you need to multiply that number by 5 to 10 to get a retail price that will allow you to sell to distributors at 40% of retail price, pay your rent and utilities, and take enough out to buy the occasional cup of Ramen.

Yeah I was thinking yesterday was slow even after the live stream.  Seems like we did better last night and riding the momentum still today.  Maybe more people watched it later in the day.  Also guessing the international backers did work overnight (overnight for us in North, Central, and South America).

Hi all, I've been following along since the very start, figured I would poke my head in to say g'day! This is my first bones KS, in fact fairly new to the hobby in general- the core set alone already contains more minis than I currently own ::o::lol:
I'm liking the sets of kobolds and goblins but I think my favourite single model so far would be either the recently revealed hill giant hunter, or the 2-headed dungeon dweller, they both look fun to paint.
Anyone able to narrow it down to a single favourite model so far?

Dragon turtle. Hands down. However, I'm also loving the hut and Gauth, the core dragon.i have that one in metal but have always been a little intimidated due to the sheer size and pinning required so he has never been painted.
