I don't think this whole issue with the female giants would even have occurred to me a few years ago. Now I have a five-year-old daughter who is getting interested in minis and gaming. 

 

I have no problem with her wanting to be/play a princess, I just want her to know and believe girls can kick butt too.

That was the point I was making.  Reaper has seven nice female giants and none in combat poses.  Even Skadi looks more like she's at the forge.

 

 

She's nice, but she's just sort of standing there holding an axe.  I would like to see a female giant at least more like this:

To be honest I think that is a totem stick more than real axe that skadi has.

Perhaps the scruffiness is how hill giants standard their beauty. How many skulls can they braid in their tangled hair? How far down the neck does that neckbeard go? Is the belly big enough? Six toes means more grip on the rocks, where's your sixth toe?
