I really hope they hit us with another set of bases!  I'm not trying to be ungrateful but 1" bases is not exactly what I need since I mostly paint for display but I will take them and figure out something for them.  Also I missed out on the Base Boss KS so I will take as many bases as I can get.

This may sound unusual but I really liked the brown paper bag they served up the bases in for Bones I, we don't have those types of bags in this country but I do see them being used at the grocery store on American TV and I always wondered how they didn't just fall apart. Now I know.

Sad, but there you have it

I like to paint my dragons in natural color schemes.  So I might pick something like this gold and brown with green tones:

Or the grey and orange of this one:

Or even blue and tan:

For those of you planning to get Dance of Death, what colors will you be painting your dragons? Same, different, with polka dots?

Black and copper, I think.

Note: while I have played D&D since 1976, I'm not going to make decisions about art based on D&D game canon. The colors just work well together, and I think would work especially well in a composition of that shape.

I'm hoping Gauth will do okay in Bones. I keep looking at how skinny his ankles are, comparatively. Perhaps with his wings straight up like that, it will diminish the slowly-tipping-over problem some of the other metal-to-Bones dragons have had.

He's a lovely big beastie, though, should be fun to paint. ^_^

I'm planning Gumby wires.

I think I'm going to paint mine black and gold. (Or at least brass or bronze.) I haven't decided if I am going to make the black look like marble or not. I'd like to have it read as 'fine' art materials in the living room, but still be valid for gaming.

More Drider types!

It's kind of weird - since I added not-evil not-driders to my game, I have become a lot more likely to use them.... (I like spiders. And having happy, friendly driders is a whole lot better for creeping out some of my players! ::P: )

The Auld Grump

I played in a game where the driders ran friendly restaurant chains in the underground tunnels connecting various parts of the kingdom ...

For that matter, does anyone already have color schemes for any of the Bones 4 figures picked out? I'm already planning to paint the catfish as a Magikarp (thanks to Pezler's suggestion).

Huzzah!

--OneBoot :D

I haven't thought much about color schemes for the most part, except that I'll probably paint one Rocky in each of the five traditional chromatic dragon colors.  That's not a super original thought or anything though.

Color schemes for things that don't exist yet? I don't even have color schemes for half the stuff I currently have in my possession!

for big dragons i have color schemes pretty much immediately >.> My Ma'aldrakar had a color scheme before the KS was finished, and is now nearly complete with that same color scheme

Interesting!  I never realized those bags were a cultural thing.

They are just as commonplace as they look in the shows.  They are used by every grocery, just about, and small versions (such as the bases came in) are used for ... have you heard the phrase "brown bag lunch"?

I wonder how much of the difference is that trees are a major crop in the US and Canada, so wood products are common in more roles. When I lived in Germany, I noted that wooden and wood-sided buildings were much less common there than here as well.

That would be the most boring epic battle ever. Everyone's immune to everyone's breath weapons and everyone's made of hit points. Hours of watching big things flapping about with poor maneuverability, breath-weaponing solely for the lulz, doing little bites and claws of damage every now and then when they can actually line up a proper flight...

The winner has like 5 hp left though so if you camp underneath the battle you're likely to get 2 colossal dragon hides and a hell of a fish story.

No, no, no! Your looking at it wrong!

Both sides faking taking damage, and doing completely over the top combat maneuvers!

Don't think of it as a duel, think of it as WWF!

Then heading out for a beer afterwards.

The Auld Grump - I was joking, but now it is in my head....

The lone adventurer with his crossbow camps beneath the dueling dragons, waiting for the loser to fall so he can take his shot and bring down the winner. Dragons fly overhead, swooping and diving and shouting insults in Draconic. In their bellows are coded messages, all variants of 'look at the little morsel below' and arguments over the best way to cook him.

Soon the ritual duel gains a purpose. Winner gets the right to roast and eat the would-be usurper. They fly and fight and grow bored with their own antics until a winner is decided by divine right of 'I said so' and the true battle begins as they both tuck their wings in and go terminal velocity to the ground to see who gets to eat the interloper.

Winner is usually the one who loses the game of chicken with the ground. But, terminal velocity is only 20d6 damage so there is much uproarious laughter from the 'loser' while the 'winner' nurses their newfound headache with a kebab of roast adventurer.

Then the beer begins.

What if dragons bane was like an addictive catnip?

and more responsible dragons were always destroying the crops belonging to addicts?

I just don't see dragons enjoying beer...

Wise Man's Fear - has a dragon addicted to heroine?- like tree bark.  They try and get him to overdose, which was not the best plan ever.

What's in my head *now*, is imagining Buglips sneaking up behind a dragon and smacking it with a folding chair.
