Okay I feel better now I think. I'm still new to D&D and buying and painting minis so I'm not sure how big some things are supposed to be to begin with. We have plenty of table space for playing, if anything its storage space that's a problem living in an apartment but we might have talked my mom into letting us put up shelves for the minis in the dinning room (where we play) to display some of the minis so fingers crossed that she'll let us. As long as they're supposed to be big and they look proportional to the people minis we have I'm happy

The gauth and the Roc should scale well for gautgantuan and huge respectively. I haven't seen gauth in person but my interpretation is that he would be gargantuan. I haven't looked recently The D&D gargantuan dragons are going for these days. 

 

So of the the past is rewards scaled well for colossal. Sure, you may never actually need a colossal aspect of Tiamat, but the players will respect that you *could* put a colossal aspect of Tiamat on the board.

I can agree with that, some of those plastic D&D minis are significantly smaller than others.

So, wonder what the big flame will reveal? Since it stands out, you'd think it's something big (dance of dead?), however that throws off the alternating core/add-on scheme. Guess we will hopefully see. And I assume there is one more map, since there is that hole at the end. Hope we make it!

Creature scale is very important to Reaper.  As a sculptor, it is my job to ensure that my sculpts fit on the appropriate sized bases for both D&D and Pathfinder (which will cover most other games too). Vertically, we can be a bit more creative, but the base size limits the whole size of the sculpt fairly well.  I ran into this once upon a time with one of my sculpts.  It was an iron cobra and I sculpted it slithering along the ground.  It fit on a cavalry base (1" x 2").  This was well within the correct size of the mini in most editions of fantasy games, but the new version of D&D stated that the creature was medium and due to a simplification in the rules, that meant it had to fit a 1" square.  The sculpt was accepted, but barely.  I now make certain I check sizes in all versions from 2e to 5e and PF while designing sculpts.

In the past, there is always another map.  They typically just keep going as far as we are willing to go. Toward the end it might be mostly concept art as they run out of sculpts we have finished. I presume they are running it the same way this time as well.

I have that iron cobra and I think it's a very cool mini, but I actually never looked up the rules specifics. Learn something every day.

I use a third way to magnetic base for carry.  Like Doug I use metal strips but I do not put the glue magnet on the washer.  I glue the washer inside a base and use a free floating thin magnet.  This way the minis do not interact on the table.  When I glued the magnet to the mini the would repel or attract when close.

Not so many Dragons in this KS so far. since I am somebody who always says you can't have enough dragons, would have thought was a bad thingg, though this time around I think it is actually a good thing and will allow for even more giants and rocs etc.... One reason why I have changed my mind on numbers of dragons etc is beacuse I have just received KS 3 here in the UK. This means I opened a Mal Drakar!!!!!!  My goodness, it's enormous!!! Even bigger than it looked in the pictures in KS3... In fact, because I have no where to be able to build it for a while, I shouldn't have taken it out of the box, cos it must have grown when it was out...... It WON'T FIT back in the box.... and I'm not silly enough to try wrestling an enormous multi-headed dragon which will remember every indignity.

Another to say I rebase everything. Sometimes I glue the broccoli to a base and then use milliput to make it consistent. Sometimes I cut the minis out of broccoli and pin them in a basius made base (with milliput) or a premade base from a place like dragonforge. Bones makes this super easy to do.

 

I really prefer the visually consistency and the game board consistency.

If I'm remembering Ron correctly, the Roc should scale to colossal, not huge. So 4 inch (ish) base.

I'm using thin 5mm disk magnets. In the middle of a 25mm or larger fender washer, I haven't seen any interaction between figures.

As for storage, I keep most of my painted Bones in small plastic bins with loose layers of bubble wrap between them.  And the bubble wrap may not be necessary.  They can be stored pretty compactly and they are tough.
