Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Yeah. The price for Ma'al was absolutely absurd. And it's not Reaper's fault, that's just what it costs. Of course, there wasn't anything special about resin Ma'al other than it being resin. Resin Nethyrmaul sold out pretty quick, but that was special in other ways...

How was Nethyrmaul different? Resin is pricier, but how much pricier? Ma'al was seriously bigger? That isn't a miniature anymore. That's legitimate baby dragon sized at that point. On a figure that large, how much does the crisper detail show in resin versus other material?

SO MANY QUESTIONS! *squeeeeee*

I'm already planning color schemes for DoD. GAHHHH.

Will we have them on display? My understanding is yes, we will.

That's so cool!  I'm jealous of all those who will attend!

I know I asked awhile ago but can't remember what was said in response.  Is the party livestreamed at all?

I think that is the plan.  If nothing else I'm sure lots of us will fire  up facebook live :)

My understanding is they hope to stream some portions.  I am not in the planning loop so I can't clarify further.

We're up more than $60,000 for the day, and $40,000 to the next goal!

edit: Uh, a lot more than $60k for the day, apparently!

Interestingly enough some of the latest impressions show some tyrannosaurids with scales, although we know others had feathers. Most likely there was variation across climates and ecological niches. Raptors were almost certainly all fuzzy but the extent of the dinofuzz is also uncertain.

I go to sleep for a mere 16 hours and you all filled up the thread. All caught up now.

Just one question....

... why is @TaleSpinner sculpting prehistoric bread boxes?!

Dang it, I thought I was being so subtle and all.

I sure hope so... no Facebook for me though so I wouldn't be able to watch FB live.

If nothing else maybe someone could take some pictures and post them here.

Thats correct.. in Bones, Nethy and Kaladrax got reversed in size.. the resin Nethy was at the intended (bigger) size

The resin version of Nethyrmaul was scaled to the same size as Julie's original Green (which was substantially larger than the final Bones version). As far as I am aware, the resin version of Ma'aldrakar was the same size as the Bones, just realized in a higher-fidelity material.

I would have to know the price of a resin "Dance of Death" before I even thought about it. $500 is just not feasible for me. ($30 on the other hand, is totally doable.)

      Andowyn Thrushmoor!
It's been awhile since I've painted a plain ol' character miniature. I spent the better part of today working on her and I’m overall pleased with how she came out. I really want to double my skill level by the time Bones V is delivered and I’m proud of my progress! Slowly but surely figuring out how to do faces, this one looks pretty okay, though her right eye is funky.

Since this is my first form post, the picture is her next to my first miniature! It's about four years old and I keep it around the rest of my collection in a place of honor

If anybody here loves cavern terrain and missed DF's first cavern KS KS2, this spring/summer around June DF will have KS6. The theme of KS6 will be Return to the Caverns and should be great fun for those who took part in KS2 or those who are new to DF.

DF had this to say and showed the below teaser pics

We're doing for Caverns what Dungeon of Doom did for Dungeons. A whole new batch of fun pieces to enhance your existing collection, but also completely stand-alone.

      Some of the key features:
New Core Shapes (diagonal wall, convex curves, 1" pieces, etc)
      Passages
Elevation (with stuff that's impossible on graph paper...)
Negative Space pieces (and new Terrain Trays)
      Flashy Pieces (Magnets & LEDs)
      Large pieces (4x4 and larger)

This looks like a very interesting board game with lots of new, fresh ideas and cool artwork (and nice minis - there is even a pledge level for just the minis: around 15 of them for $20 plus shipping):

      About this project

It's a harsh but lucrative business being a mercenary out on the edge of civilization. You must explore the harsh wilderness and engage in deep tactical combat, where the decisions you make have an impact not only on your own character, but also the world around you.

Gloomhaven is cooperative game of card-driven combat set in a persistent fantasy campaign which will change and grow as you play the game.
There is always more to unlock and explore in the world of Gloomhaven.

If you missed the first Gloomhaven Kickstarter (and retail sold out quickly) here is your chance. I backed that game the first time around and could not be happier with the results. Warning ... that box is heavy ...
