completed Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

So my frugal self both won and lost the fight last night. I can't quite believe I spent the money I did, but know I wont get the number and quality of minis at this price anywhere else. These should satisfy nearly everything I need for my Pathfinder games and I'll likely be much more picky come Bones 5 (at least I like to think I will).

 

I ended up pledging $1,150 yesterday (and this is my first bones, so $1,150 more than any other project :P) I had my manager at around 1050 and was hopeful the last couple reveals would contain a Ma'al like capstone. I'm a little disappointed at the timing of the reveals and the gargantuan spacing between goals toward the end. I think they could have pulled in a lot more money if they had shown us a little more a little sooner. I'm also dying to know what the desperate souls that come with the boat will look like (assuming they still come with the boat, that line of text seems to have disappeared between the Part 1 and Part 2 updates) and hope they'll show us Part 3 as well.

 

So now I've gone through the manager and have it at $1,076.80 with shipping so I have ~$73 to allocate still. Not quite sure what to put it on though.

First let me say welcome to the forum! And congrats on your first post!

 

There are very few of us who haven't said that next time we will be more picky, and then quickly failed that Will roll when the new cool minis were revealed!  

 

If you are going to be using your minis for gaming I would recommend basing of some kind.  It helps stabilize them so they're less likely to get knocked over, and they provided a surface for folks to pick them up from so your paintwork isn't constantly being handled.  The Reaper bases in the Kickstarter are a good deal if you decide to go that route.

Now that the KS is over, I have my pledge manager updated with what I set my pledge as in KS.  Do I still have time to update my pledge manager and add in a couple of the things I missed over the last couple of days?  I think I read about this right as the KS started, but I'm unsure now.

Yes, you will be able to add more once Reaper gets all the financial info from Kickstarter, processes it, and officially "opens" the Pledge Manager for us to lock in our pledges.  You can add more and pay Reaper directly at that time,

 

Also, between the time the Pledge Manager officially opens, and July 2018, you will be able to go in and add and pay for more stuff at any time in any amount, and it will all be added in on top of your existing order.

 

So, for instance,  every month you could take $50 dollars out if your paycheck, and go in and buy $50 more dollars worth of stuff.

Pledge Manager will transition from Calculator Tool, to actual Manager in a few weeks.  It takes 2-4 weeks for Kickstarter to give us data and funds from the project.

 

It will be open until July 31 2018.

That has never happened for me in all three previous Bones Kickstarters. Expect to be more picky and it just never works out like that, I just end up emptying the wallet in Reaper's direction. And this time, that is despite knowing that the Pound and Dollar exchange rate is pants compared to the last three times. GRRRR! Reaper putting out all them Dragons. But! But! you can't have enough Dragons!

Yes the Cultist lady is something I really wanted too.

And I'm not really a Chibi fan, I've painted one, and I do have a few unpainted ones.

But the only one I liked was Cleocathra..she didn't show either.

 

Well, maybe next time!

And this is a huge succes, I mean asking $30K and getting over $3M is awesome right?

Has anyone started compiling a list of the Bones 4 figures?

 

It would be awesome if there was a master spreadsheet with listings of each figure with links to the reapermini.com image for all the Bones Kickstarters... I have my personal one, but it's missing quite a few figures I decided not to paint, and there are still many Bones 3 figs not listed on the site.

We've got a few things to look forward to for Bones V, that's for sure. And if we're lucky we'll be able to get to the rest of the barge components and a few other things in the pledge manager.

 

$3m is an amazing number. First time a Bones has surpassed a previous bones, as someone else pointed out! And it had a huge number of backers. Both of which can only be good for Reaper and, by extension, for those of us who like being able to buy Reaper's stuff.

First off, I really enjoyed the whole campaign, $3Million was a triumph as they went down last time and 16K backers, ~10% better than Bones 2, is far more important than that being under the money of bones 2 by 3%. With the PM being open longer and better understood this will probably beat Bones 1 for total money.

 

That said I was feeling like they were do focused on new backers they didn't turn the corner to cash in on us in the last 3 days as well as they could. They made about the same amount of money as the last 2 in the final 48. 

 

But then I actually looked at Bones 2, and Bones 3 and realized something:

 

In the last day ~600k we got

Barge 1

Barge 2

Ghost Pirates

Nyarlthtep

Fan Expansion 2

Fan Expansion 3

Fan Expansion 4

Argent

 

Two We didn't unlock

Barge 3

Sohpie

 

So we got about one about ~60k on average, better than the other 3 bones. 

 

About the Capstone: It was supposed to be the Barge or Argent. I am sure they thought the barge would be more popular and they thought the day would be bigger, They've never missed a goal by this much. And remember Gene was supposed to be doing something too important to sketch new mouselings. They clearly had eased up on regular dragons a little (creating demand) and had him make an enormous dragon. I just think that it probably only generated as much money as a mouseling pack. 

 

But that is all ok. We have to remember as much we wanted a $40-$70 item of awesome there are only so many of them they want in their retail channel as they have to retail for $75 to $150. They may have realized they didn't have something like that this time so they did 5 expansions to get money and it mostly worked, did great for new backers, and expanded their line tremendously.

 

But the last day the seemed to struggle with updates (I still don't know why they aren't pretyped into other software for basic copy paste when time)

They talked for days about switching to one orange goal by noon the last day. (Didn't happen)

Livestream was a big fail.

 

Those are nitpicks though

 

In he end I will spend ~Bones 3 even though I am being much pickier. If it was my first I would be way higher. And still might be in a year. I got many of the things I ask for including Cave Sloth and Mossbeard. And even though I still want an animated tree another Wood Golem figure is Bones makes me happy.
