It's amazing how many people are feeling the same way I am:  disappointed there's no new goal to wake up to this morning.  I guess it was a good Kickstarter, we're all hung over from too many stretch goals!

Among other things, I haven't pledged on the Chronoscope, nor Lost Valley expansions. Nor have I chosen the scenery ones, and none of the dinos, nor the original Conan ones.

 

Though Bones 3 had a lot of post-campaign add-ons that I pledged on. All of the DVDs; Savage Avatars 2; clear Kyphryxis; larger fire giant resculpts added +$200 (with shipping).

 

If the same thing happens with Bones 4, I ain't done paying.

 

 

BTW, I *really* want to see a Sophie adventure band featuring her friends.

 

I'm also curious about the lady minotaur's name.

After sleeping on it I have decided that I am probably not going to get the Dreadmere expansion. There is a lot I like about it but not  sure I like enough of it to warrant the extra $50.  Probably just pick and choose at retail.  That should put me at about $325 for the KS. 

 

Doing this also gives me some wiggle room if any surprise add ons occur in the PM.

For those wanting the toad riding a rhino beetle. Looking at the chaos toad savage and with some careful snipping and cutting it should be easy to mount it the rhino beetle.

Thank you both for filling in the details!  It seemed to have such specific purpose, I knew there had to be a story about it.  Now I understand, and the figure will be all the more meaningful for it.

   As folks make their final decisions, you need think about February 2019, and which things will you be seeing photos of posted in the Bones 4 Shipping thread, over which you'll be kicking yourself and saying, "Why didn't I get one of those, when I had the chance and they were priced so reasonably!

Probably is.

She has dogs, worked with rescue groups, did S&R with them, all that.

{The following might come across a bit rant-y. It is not intended as such. I'm just expressing an opinion and hoping to maybe stimulate some interesting discussion}

 

Comparing the core sets of Bones 3 vs Bones 4 we find that both contain 158 pieces. Bones 3 had the weapon sets that comes out to 32 pieces, Bones 4 has the column toppers that comes out to 30 pieces, so basically the same there. That leaves approximately 125 figures in each set. Bones 3 had the torture chamber set (5 pieces); Bones 4 had the Grave Things (4 pieces) and the Pig cart, so both had 5 pieces of terrain/scenery/dressing/whatever you want to call it. That leaves approximately 120 figures per set. Bones 3 had 18 larger than man sized figures in the core,  Bones 4 had 26; one of which was a big-arse DRAGON.

 

Moving on to expansions will be a little tricky since Bones 3 had 3, and Bones 4 had 5. The smallest expansion in Bones 3 was 32 pieces (Mythos) which had 5 larger than man sized pieces in it; the smallest expansion in Bones 4 was 36 pieces (the Lost Valley) which has 11 larger than man sized pieces in it. In general, the expansion sets in Bones 4 had more pieces in them, and most had more larger pieces as well (Chronoscope being the lone exception here, with only 2 large figures).  

 

The number of add-ons between Bones 3&4 was almost the same; B3 had 33, and B4 had 36. Both had art books, both had 2 paint sets. So that leaves 30 and 33 add-ons, respectively. (For purposes of the following discussion,  I'm counting chibis, mouselings, high rollers, and the baby red dragons as 'man sized'.) Of those, Bones 3 had 6 add-ons of man sized figures, where Bones 4 only had 3. Additionally, in Bones 3 there were 1 or 2 add-ons that weren't too much bigger than man sized, whereas in Bones 4 almost everything was significantly larger than man sized.

 

Based on the above information (which was gleaned by looking over the graphics for both Kick Starters), it's my opinion that Bones 4 was bigger in almost every way. More figures, more bigger figures, more expansions, more add-ons.

 

Based on all of that, I think that perhaps we are acting a bit spoiled. Quite a few people were (reactions varied from mildly disappointed to downright angry) that Reaper didn't give us a 'capstone' model; something to rival Ma'al Drakar from the last kick starter. Yes, I know that it was mentioned on several occasions that there was something 'bigger' waiting in the wings. Was there? I don't know, and neither do you, so it doesn't matter. Reaper has always been pretty open about things, so I kinda doubt they were lying about it, though.

The point I'm trying to make is 'What did you want'?

 

Seriously, what were you expecting? I know I joked about the final reveal being not-Helm's Deep, but that's about the only thing I can think of that could top Ma'al Drakar. What was everyone else thinking, that they'd make an EVEN BIGGER big bad dragon for this KS? Ok fine, what then do they do to top THAT? What, we're eventually going to have 'miniatures' the size of German Shepards? It's gotta stop somewhere.

 

Personally, I'll be happy with the larger number of larger figures for me to choose from, purchase, receive, and probably never get around to painting.

Yeah, I noticed she never popped up. Neither did the multi-part Anhurian soldiers, the Cleocatra chibi figure, the large humanoid (bugbear/ogre/not sure what it was) figure, and there are a couple others that I remember seeing at Reapercon, but not in this KS. What ekse never showed up that people can remember?
