I met my husband at the roleplaying gamers' table on orientation night my freshman year at our super-nerdy university.

33 years later we are still gaming with some of the same people we met in college.

I had no need for a Stygian barge... until I saw it on the Kickstarter.

Suddenly I needed one for a liche on his funeral barge, traveling through the Osirean deserts as the seasonal rains come - adding to his slaves.

*EDIT* I really hope that part 3 gets opened up if enough is added via the Pledge Manager, like what happened with Bones III. ::):

The Auld Grump

I had a similar reaction.  Suddenly I need that.

Heck, it would be fun just to have at anchor in an otherwise normal pirate bay, nestled among more regular fantasy ships at the dock in Charles Addams fashion.

The Reaper frogs are good if you're going for something fairly serious. If I were going for a more whimsical version like the artwork some days ago, I'd take a look at the Dark Sword frogs.

The DS frogs are a bit more anthropomorphic though, instead of a straight up tree frog.

Dark Sword frogs are also made of quite substantial/rigid pewter with feet that would need to be cut off of their broccoli base and legs that would need to be bent to get them into a riding position. It's quite a lot of work to get their feet off of the integral base (I've tried this, ended up just sculpting new feet).

Eureka Miniatures also make some great Frog Warriors that might be suitable as well.   They kind of are in the middle between Reaper and Dark Sword on the whimsy/serious scale, with a slant towards the whimsical.

My future wife started playing in the historical miniatures American Civil War games I was running at college for a bunch of my buddies.  Little did I know the miniatures gaming wasn't her only interest in attending!

@Chaoswolf I was thinking about your comment about the lack of enthusiasm during the last phase of the Kickstarter.

First of all, I feel spoiled by all the great stuff that was revealed.

Especially all the stuff I can squeeze into my Lost World project.

There was a moment where I could swear @Reaperbryan was looking at my profile and sig and said...throw in another Dino, that'll teach him!

Anyway.

I was really excited for the Barge ( I'm getting two, one will be whole the other will be shipwrecked) and the Mammoth in the Fan Favorite was icing on the cake.

Still I was too a bit underwhelmed at some point near the end.

Why?

Basically because even after Argent and the Barge it was Reaper who told us, this wasn't all and something big was coming.

That led to anticipation without a follow up.

In the end this is a minor thing.

It was a great ride. Superb KS, and total over 3 M a big succes for Reaper I guess.

I did have a bad moment in the comment section.

Someone basically attacked me for asking about a possible solution regarding possible double VAT due to Brexit.

Strangely enough the day after that someone else asks basically the same question and gets the answer I was looking for without people getting mad at him/her.

I guess I was misunderstood.

All in all, despite me feeling a bit underwhelmed for a moment due to the anticipation as explained, I do agree with you.

I like big miniatures since I paint for display, but the size of Ma'al is the limit.

I love it, but I do not need many more like that.

A bit smaller is fine by me.

Argent didn't do it for me, but that is personal taste, DOD didn't appeal to me either.

The Barge, The Mammoth, Blacktooth and the Zombie Shark made my day.

Will get the Gulper through retail since I don't need so many human sized figures anymore.

I mentioned Bryan here, so I can thank him and the other Reaper people for this KS.

Sure, we pay for the molds this way.

But the greatest thing I saw, was that Reaper really listens to their customers.

the Fan Favorite pack, the Lost Valley and Darkreach are great examples of that.

I'm currently painting Kaladrax and putting her on the Bones III Mausoleum.

I'll be waiting for my great minis.

I do hope Barge III will still be revealed and included.

Will be back for Bones 5 ( providing good health and finances),

I met my bf through World of Warcraft. Some douche hunter left our guild in the middle of the night, and we really needed a fill in for our raid night, so we spammed /2 (trade chat). He answered. We invited him into the guild afterwards, and even though he never was the type to play WoW for long periods of time, he always stuck with us in voice chat (core of the guild plays a lot of other games together or simply hangs out, even if some players have quit WoW like me right now). We became best friends pretty quickly, and three years later we ended up in a relationship ^^

Always great to have someone you can be yourself around and nerd out about your hobbies without feeling weird.

I did have a similar experience. Bryan showed up shortly after you got attacked and asked for your question again, people even wrote it here in this thread, but I guess you took a break from the comments (understandable). He told me that day that taking VAT from us and then not taking care of it properly would be illegal, so that really calmed me down.

But yeah, even then people were super annoyed, similar to the whole "political FB post" topic. Even if it doesn't concern you personally, one should understand that we were talking about a lot of money and wanted to know more details than were in this Update.

The day after Adam B asked basically the same thing.

Then the answer below was given, this what I wanted to hear.

Tell the truth, I took a little time away from the comments, for a brief moment I even considered to cancel the whole pledge and forget about it all.

But I realised it wasn't a Reaper employee ticking me off.

So I calmed down and returned, telling the guy I wouldn't talk to him anymore because I didn't like to be insulted.

Happy I stayed because..well...DINOS MAMMOTH etc etc

I saw that unfortunate pile-on, Glitterwolf, and I'm sorry. It looked to me like people misunderstood  the question and were rude about that and it just got weird.

I did wonder if the more civilized answer to the other person the next day was because A) Bryan had stated answer by then and B) how you had been treated was remembered and people did not want that to happen again.

The first conversation Hubby and I ever had was after I made some comment about not being a hobbit (he's a cook and was offering me food). We started talking about other nerdy things, he started flirting with me and bring me breakfast in the morning to flirt with me more. Eventually he gave me his number and I called him. And now his name is "Hubby"

On topic... I posted a question on one of the updates, but was wondering @Reaperbryan, will Argent's scales be filled in when complete? He looks awesome, but he's light on the scales.

All good now. A lesson for me.

I'm so used to the friendly and civil Reaper forum these days, that I forgot about such behaviour.

I've encountered that on several fora in the past, neither of which I still visit.

And I should have known better than to get angry about trolling.

Eventhough the KS is fun and all about minis, and I can understand people don't like serious questions, it is also about money.

I threw in $500, that is no lunch money.

I'm happy with the answer that was given later.

I know that Reaper will do what they legally can to help us out should things get weird.

Just wanted to hear that from them instead of all kind of wild speculations, or automatically assuming it will be allright.

I've had superb experiences with Reaper and their customerservice.

Still doesn't mean I can assume things will always be handled like I think they will.

It is a business first.

Thx for caring!

Actually the scales are the reason I'm NOT getting Argent.

If those would be filled out I might buy him after all.

I like his pose and size, but the scales put me off.
