First let me say welcome to the forum! And congrats on your first post!

There are very few of us who haven't said that next time we will be more picky, and then quickly failed that Will roll when the new cool minis were revealed!

If you are going to be using your minis for gaming I would recommend basing of some kind.  It helps stabilize them so they're less likely to get knocked over, and they provided a surface for folks to pick them up from so your paintwork isn't constantly being handled.  The Reaper bases in the Kickstarter are a good deal if you decide to go that route.

My husband is the one who says must be much more picky. I don't know where he gets his ideas from. I fully acknowledge my insanity. ALL THE THINGS!

Actually the scales are the reason I'm NOT getting Argent.

If those would be filled out I might buy him after all.

I like his pose and size, but the scales put me off.

The scales are indeed strange, and I am hoping something different is done

if not, I intend to use a scalpel and smooth his hide of them (since there really aren't that many if they stay like they are)

I estimate near 100% chance the scales will look like the scales on the dragons Reaper has been producing for years when Argent is done.  Professional sculptors and Reaper know what sells.  Sometimes they just need more time to get stuff done.

That's also what I'm thinking.

First off, I really enjoyed the whole campaign, $3Million was a triumph as they went down last time and 16K backers, ~10% better than Bones 2, is far more important than that being under the money of bones 2 by 3%. With the PM being open longer and better understood this will probably beat Bones 1 for total money.

...

About the Capstone: It was supposed to be the Barge or Argent.

But that is all ok. We have to remember as much we wanted a $40-$70 item of awesome there are only so many of them they want in their retail channel as they have to retail for $75 to $150. They may have realized they didn't have something like that this time so they did 5 expansions to get money and it mostly worked, did great for new backers, and expanded their line tremendously.

I pretty much agree with this, dschumm. Honestly, I'm not sure what everyone is disappointed about. I think this has been Reaper's best KS yet - the breadth and value is staggering. I'd much rather have the fan expansion, the barge and multiple of the other versatile and usable add-ons than a massive capstone that'll I use once (or not at all - looking at you M'aal). I think DoD should more than satisfy the painters, and most gamers will want something that will see more table time (at least I do).

I'm more than happy with how things ended up. Some super interesting models and filling in a load of hard to find gaps as well as providing the RPG meat-'n'-veg - great job Reaper!

I'm still hoping they'll reveal part 3 of the barge (which is great value even as it stands), as I 'know' that Part 3 is Mr Bones as captain with his pet flumph(s)... :D

On topic... I posted a question on one of the updates, but was wondering @Reaperbryan, will Argent's scales be filled in when complete? He looks awesome, but he's light on the scales.

I know Argent is still a WIP.

Gene missed most of Saturday's party to get it to a point that something could be shared.

Speaking of geeky, nerdy relationship starts I met my wife at an SCA war. We've been together for ten years now and even our nerdy hobbies have changed over the years. I started out with ancient and classical Greek everything and moved onto minis and Japanese fiber art history, she's gone from Tudor history to Korean history and the K/J-pop scene and those are just our main ones right now.

I think Reaper really put a lot of thought into listening to past backers and forum members. There seems to be a lot of models based on forum inside jokes but some take a little modding. Naponatom's Khanjira riding a Kaladrak gazeebo should be doable when this fulfills. Seeing the new skeletal dragon this weekend, it should fit inside of the gazebo, a little slicing near the base of the gazebo will allow the skeletal dragon to fit inside after some base trimming. From there, Khanjira just needs the ruins connection trimmed from its right foot. Khanjira won't be riding English horseback style but more crotch-rocket motorcycle style.

Sadly, Mr Bones is not going to be the barge's boatman. Izzy drew a proper Charon at the countdown party so hopefully he gets added in the PM. I'll post a photo later from my phone but Mossbeard is large enough that you can fit a hobbit or dwarf mini in the hollow and balance two more on his shoulders.

I am different.  I met my wife when she was a coach of the Bike team on our Corporate Challenge event.  Started to go out with her after we won and by next year I was the co-coach.

So not nerd but jock.  But we are both nerds.  I worked in computers and she was a Geographical Information  Systems Professional.

I am wondering something as well, and I hope we can get confirmation so I can decide to lock in or pass:

@ReaperbryanCan we get confirmation on whether the trolls are getting the battering ham? I know at one point it was a yes, then somewhere it got changed to a maybe/we'll let you know, and that was the last we heard of it. Also, Please, can we get a Mr. Bones? It's just not a Mr. Bones Kickstarter without him:)

Hmmm, there are lots of dwarves to choose from but not so much hobbits. There just aren't many hobbits in Bones . . . ::(:

I wish argent was larger.  He's in scale with maaldrakar I believe which makes sense, I could use a larger bahamut (18-20 inch tall would be ideal) to though but hey, will get what is available.  :) Just a few mods to the head and argent will be an ideal bahamut.

18-20 inches tall?

[Takes out measuring tape. Rolls out 20in length]

After seeing that Ma'al is itself 12 inches tall, and and has the front part of his body propped up on a rock, I feel confident in saying that Argent will be an overall larger dragon. Though Ma'al's extra heads does give him a lot of impressive bulk.

Until July 2018 comes, there will be a *lot* of updates with plenty of updated pictures to tempt us. It'll be enough to make some of us reconsider our choices, be it more  or less ::(:.

I was disappointed because they had teased this mystery item relentlessly during the campaign

'oh tjere is something bigger!"

"we aren't down with the big guys yet'"

"We have something that'll blow your minds!"

not exact quotes nut but that is the gist of it, all during the Campaign

amd then....nothing

it was a lot of hype hey built up through their teasing that wa never actually delivered through

Yes it was a successful KS and there are a lot of goodies I cannot wait to own

but IMO if it is unsure we are going to reach a goal, maybe don't hint and tease at it so much. Then you don't get the disappointment many felt at this big amazing item never appearing

My wife at times isn't so excited about me buying more things. I explained that I spend about the same on minis as she does on flowers in a year. Her flowers die but my minis are forever. That might be part of what she's worried about... She likes the minis, especially dwarves, but I think the sheer numbers I like scared her off. This year she sees I'm actually painting and playing with them instead of just hording so she's more willing to let me get more. Plus some of our acquaintances husbands have done some really dumb things lately. Makes me look great in comparison. So as long as I'm happy sitting in my basement with my toys she's good with it.
