completed Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

I have two themes picked out for my DoDs, both somehow volcanic. 

1) Icelandic volcano dragon vs lightning dragon - volcanic lightning is crazy neato. Inspired by the eruption in... 2010? 

2) Hawaiian volcano dragon vs tropical dragon - much burning. Inspired by the 2018 Kilauea eruptions. 

 

Nah... who'd'a thunk the rocks nerd would theme things off rocks... no... not predictable at all.

I didn't get the core set of bones4 - just a lot of Dinos, and some extras. (Bring on the BOAT!) 

I was between gainful employment during KS1, sadly, but I did Bones 2 and 3.

Billy bookcases can get glass doors, and you can add extra shelves, too. I have the top half of one as my minis display, with the bottom half for gaming books. I'm going to need to rearrange and buy another one once I get Bones 4 painted up. I'm running out of room.

Ikea has some all glass display cases which I use. they are a nice size and because they are all glass the shelves don't hide any display space.  in addition they have a nice flat top that will support very large displays with ease.  and they are less than $50 each even without a sale making them perfect candidates.  I have 3 and will probably need to pick up a couple more. at least...

Are you referring to the DETOLF? I personally went the BILLY approach, but the DETOLF could be good with some modifications to add more shelves (which there are guides for online). Not sure I'd use them as-is for standard minis.

My DoD is going to be a simple, simple paint job.  One dragon will be painted as if it were pewter, the other bronze, and the base will painted to look like wood. 

Basically, I'm going to make it look like it's some expensive and heavy piece of artwork like you would find in some posh art gallery.

i think my 2nd DoD, which is going to be a gift to my sister, will be a red vs white dragon. She's a very big fan of game of thrones, so i think she'll like the fire and ice reference

I'm out of office most of tomorrow and therefore the Friday update won't be posted until later in afternoon instead of my preferred earlier in morning. 

 

I didn't finish it today before I had to leave and neglected to get the files into the cloud so I could remote in.

 

When my ride gets home, he'll drive me in to office in order to get this done; current meds equal no driving.
