Red Deer delenda est!

That's a little mean to the city of Red Deer, isn't it?  It's not like it's their fault the tracker has been stuck on them for days.

Hopefully they will be surpassed today and the tracker will move on.

It's harsh, but sacrifices must be made.

The reason it shipped from the UK is because that is where their other warehouse is.... which is not unreasonable at all even in this situation.

All couriers in the UK shipping to the EU at this point in time, can fill in customs forms, explaining an order was placed and upheld before the decision on Brexit. so you all should be fine, They are starting to appear at all the post offices around and i believe even our couriers.

assuming the ship has arrived/will arrive. but with lack of comms who knows where it may be :)

Don't panic

Ok, that's EXACTLY the kind of information that would have calmed down so many anxious people had it been given in the last update.

To me, an alternative solution would have been to give us the option to cover extra shipping and give them to UPS or another carrier directly in the US. That would have had other issues, but eliminated the double VAT trouble.

Both The Netherlands and Belgium have great harbours ( Rotterdam and Antwerp) which are already the starting points for transporting goods through the whole EU and beyond.

I feel the need to add Hamburg to that list.

In the end I still think it will be alright, but it will make me think twice about backing the next Kickstarter that wants to go through there.

If there is a Bones V ( whish I hope and would like) I do want to know how things are being calculated then for EU members.

Paying VAT twice is a no no for me and if that would be the case then I would wait for retail and shop in Germany when it is in stock there.

Yes, even if stuff is still cheaper than retail price, paying VAT twice feels wrong. If I prepay VAT I entrust a large sum of money to a company, in the expectation that they use it to my best interest. And my best interest isn't to import them into a country my country has no deals with so that it'll be hit again.

See you in the Battlefield I guess. ^_^

I agree on all of this.

And yes Battlefield is my way to go for retail although I have ordered directly from Reaper because of specials and bonus minis sometimes.

Hm, one would think that with all those Stygian Barges the transport would be faster..

Exactly!

Prod, not skewer!

Well, maybe not skewer, but a little blood could be motivating...

Does this tracker have some family and friends?

What if we dangle this toaster out of the window in front of it?

Hm? Not related? This Alarm Clock then?

Yeah, they established the warehouse in the U.K. before the brexit. I'm sure if they had any idea that sort of thing would happen, they'd have picked a different country.

Not sure on that. There's a gigantic wargaming player base in the UK, and Kings of War players in particular have been using Reaper minis quite often as army center pieces and unit fillers, unique monsters, etc.

I'm sure they just looked at places they were shipping to the most and set up shop there.

Forgive me if it's been discussed before, but I see people say something about having to pay VAT twice. How would you have to do that? At this point, you've prepaid VAT, and the government (whether UK, EU or both) haven't gotten a dime of what you paid for the VAT. When you paid,  you paid VAT for EU rates, correct? If so, when it gets to you, Reaper will submit payment for your VAT that they collected to the EU, and not to the UK. Where would the second payment come from? I guess you MIGHT have to pay extra VAT if you like in the UK and they decide you have to pay more than what they collected for VAT for the EU, but there's really not much that can be done about that (the blame would squarely be on the UK government for that). Maybe I'm not understanding the whole process, but that seems to be how it was explained, and how I would think it would logically work since the UK isn't the end destination. Would they put VAT on the outgoing mail too?? I wouldn't think so since Reaper probably had to pay for taxes on the shipment going into the country. Please feel free to correct me if I've got any of that wrong, I'm not trying to downplay any concerns, it just seems that it might not be as complicated as it's being made out to be?

Brexit was a possibility back then when they set up their warehouse. As pinky said, I'm sure it has to do with where they were already shipping a lot, plus ease of doing business.

Somewhere around here Ed has an anecdote about being involved in an attempt to set up a branch ( (not clear if it was for Reaper or a different business) in France years ago, and the business climate there was not conducive to an American company doing that. They may very well have looked at other countries within the EU, and decided even with Brexit looming that the UK was still the best choice for Reaper.

This sucks for the people within the EU, I know -
