About this project

Because the best bits of your miniature collection are the bits you sculpt yourself

We want to put a special BASIUS COMMUNITY pad in the hands of every tabletop gaming club in the world

Since launching our first BASIUS Kickstarter project (now known as BASIUS ONE), thousands of gamers have used BASIUS to aid & develop their sculpting skills as well as customise & awesomify* their miniature collections. During this time we have had to move BASIUS out of the garage and into the Industrial Estate!  The BASIUS team has grown since then, and now includes the same family of four sculpting gamers that created BASIUS all those years ago and the family of experienced casters at History Craft.

We now have ten complete collections of 12 themed 50mm square BASIUS pads prototyped. Some are favourites from previous Kickstarter projects, some have been altered and updated, and the rest are brand new. We need your help to fund their creation on an industrial scale!

COMMUNITY

Community is important - in gaming, just like in the rest of life.

We love gaming with our friends in our local geek-hobby store and we initially met many of our friends purely because of that community. Friendly gaming clubs and hobby stores that go out of their way to host gaming communities are awesome, and we want to help to increase that community awesomeness.

Kevin Jackson, from the online community, sent us this photo showing how he based his miniatures using BASIUS Kevin Jackson, from the online community, sent us this photo showing how he based his miniatures using BASIUS

It stands to reason that if a person wants to do something positive for others in life then it's best to do something they are actually good at, and feedback from all four of our previous BASIUS projects has shown us that we have become rather good at BASIUS-ing**.

OUR GOAL

With this focus of community being central to what BASIUS has become, our goal for this latest Kickstarter is quite a big one... Alongside the release of our 10 themed BASIUS collections, we want to provide every tabletop gaming club in the world with a special BASIUS COMMUNITY pad, so that all gamers can use it and help each other to use it, to develop their own and each other's sculpting.

WE NEED YOU

It would be awesome if every gamer & hobbyist reading this... in every town worldwide, could pledge to get hold of a pad or two in this kickstarter, make some bases with them, show their sculpting to their gaming club and ask their club chairperson to contact us to get a BASIUS COMMUNITY pad for their club.

Tyler, from the online community, kindly sent us this photo. These base textures are made using just BASIUS, 'Green-Stuff' and paint - thats it. Tyler, from the online community, kindly sent us this photo. These base textures are made using just BASIUS, 'Green-Stuff' and paint - thats it.

Bad timing! ::(:

Since I mostly paint to advanced tabletop, for most basing, I'm fine with either playground sand, or fine craft sand with ground cork. However, miniatures like indoor wild west and generic fantasy taverns don't work with sand, so I'm thinking Rotting Walkway would work. I guess the four base set is a good price when you consider shipping to the US. So I'm thinking three more bases. I have a wide variety of miniatures, and some do not have an integrated base. I figure these I'd use the base stamps first for. Suggestions appreciated! Also, if you have found interesting uses for the base pads, post!

BTW, Anyone know if or why this is a different creator than previous Basius KS? I've send them a PM asking this, so will post when I find out.

EDIT: Read the Basius 3 KS comments and updates. Looks like a company new to KS, although one with experience.

Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5
Dark Sword Miniatures New Range - Stephanie Law Masterworks
RAFM New Airship Pirate Miniatures  (Steampunk. Also, GURPS Steampunk) - The Stage?
Little Urban Achievers  (Modern day, inside, urban. Mini's based on the Big Lebowski)
RAFM Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Miniatures (Investigators and Monsters) - The Stage?

Warhammer 40K and Sedition Wars : Cork for outdoors, but interested in indoors.

Warhammer Quest: Halls of Tzeenth : May end up basing on pieces of turquoise from Michael's

It might help to look at the threads for the previous Basius projects: quite a few recommendations there.

Based on your description, maybe Watchtower, a dungeon setting one like More Endless Halls, one from Industria, and a brick one from Renasence)?

My reading of the description is that the new company is the one that produced the previous project molds (and will produce the current ones) so the original creators are just going to be the lead designer with the new company handling actual production and distribution.

I'm looking at "The Stage", which looks like (finally) a nice, flat wooden plank surface.  I've already backed two other Basius campaigns so I have pretty much everything I want at this point.

They're a very nice product, heavy duty.  Takes a little bit of practice, but once you get used to it you will get insanely high quality impressions.  I highly recommend the Endless Halls and similar pads.

The ones with extremely fine detail can be tricky, it's difficult to prevent little bits of GS/ProCreate/Etc. from getting caught in the pad  I had some issues with my "Damaged Runes" pad with epoxy getting stuck in the lettering, and sometimes in the moss, even using a release agent.  Bit of a pain to get that out afterwards.  The flagstone-y ones are the easiest to use and work the best.

Interesting that this one hasn't gotten any updates.

Also, I looked over things in more detail. Nothing jumped out at me as needed compared to what I already have. I must have looked too quickly...

I barely received my last campaign pledge from Midlam that already it has something that caught my interest.

Sisters of the Kraken Cult. The female counterparts of the previous "Onslaught of the Cult of the Kraken Lord" and "Cultists of the Kraken Lord". (I now have some regret of not getting it)

What's also interesting is the optional add-on of fish folk.

Brinewind is going to have some interesting neighbors.

      Story
After the estate of one Fomo Barrowblight (who many moons ago, and with heavily laden bags, had said he was just off for a morning walk, never to return) was sold at auction, there came to light a strange scroll that appeared to be a map of the final resting place of a lost tribe of halflings.  These cousins lived down in the scorching Southlands, amidst endless dunes that had buried whole cities and civilisations.
The newly elected (and so still very enthusiastic) Halfling Town Council had organised an expedition to make contact with their fellow halflings, with the aim of swapping some stories and recipes, and who knows, perhaps even coming back with some interesting new cakes.
And, after many great perils and travails, the expedition found itself in a mysterious location known as 'The Valley of the Things'.  Here, recipes in strange hieroglyphs were marked on tomb walls,  guarded jealously by High Priests and long mummified pastry chefs.
The expedition takes time to assuage the fears of the High Priests that they are here to steal the sacred recipes and make formal diplomatic relations.  But Fomo Barrowblight and another mysterious figure seem intent on stealing the recipe to the sacred pie and have already gleaned some of the ingredients...
      To the Mummy's Tomb!
Introducing a series of  Eight Fantasy Miniatures in 28mm scale from a halfling expedition to the burial grounds of their cousins, in the desert southlands.
        Halfling Town Council Five
The latest elected Halfling Town Council, has been responsible for launching the expedition to the distant Southlands, as always, it is made up of eight different townsfolk from all walks of life.

I've already pledged for the whole set, why haven't you?

      Story
Echoes of Camelot: Arthurian Legends is a project that will expand our 75mm resin miniature range with new and exciting models based on the Matter of Britan, particularly around the figure of King Arthur and his Knights. We have many cool surprises prepared should you help us bring this dream to life.
These miniatures have been sculpted and painted here at the Big Child Creatives studio with the collaboration of some of the most talented miniature artists out there. And what is more, they will be manufactured by our own talented team of resin casting experts. This allows us to monitor the process closely to ensure the best quality in the market and a timely delivery.
We have learned a lot from our previous campaigns, and we want to put all this experience to good use, repeating everything we did right, improving upon it, and correcting our past mistakes. We invite you to join us in this journey of discovery throughout the Matter of Britain and its amazing cast of unique characters.
This campaign is a journey of discovery, full of surprises such as custom bits to make your miniatures even more striking than they already are. Some of these kits will be Kickstarter exclusive, so those of you who choose to support us will be able to proudly show it through unique miniatures, even more full of life and character than our regular releases.

OMG!  Jason Weibe helped create the new Dwarven line being released on Kickstarter by Tomb Guardians!  These minis look so cool and they are cheap!  I haven't seen anyone post about this yet but here is the link.  It starts tomorrow morning.  They also said Bobby Jackson and Gene Van Horne created there monsters in the set.  Cant wait.   I purchased there Amazons and they were fantastic!  I posted some pics.  Im assuming the Fire Demon and add ons are in Resin.

Bloody Peasants! by Midlam Miniatures — Kickstarter

      Story
"Oh no!  It's an armed agrarian uprising!"
Toiling in the fields for their feudal overlords, the peasants are equally quick to turn their tools to defending their lands from monstrous invaders or, when pressed to the limit, revolting and overturning cruel and greedy landowners.
      Bloody Peasants!
A selection of human and halfling farmers in 28mm scale miniatures for all of your fantasy games.
You can choose from humans, halflings or both!
      The Humans
A familiar sight in the villages surrounding Midlam.
      The Halflings
A smaller folk, doing the same jobs as the longshanks.

      It's a Midlam project, so you know what that means;
Maybe a stretch goal, very possibly an early fulfillment, and absolutely no nonsense.
