BASIUS 4 - COMMUNITY

About this project

Because the best bits of your miniature collection are the bits you sculpt yourself

bcf39adad96bf8d0f8d9b57b44600863_origina

We want to put a special BASIUS COMMUNITY pad in the hands of every tabletop gaming club in the world

Since launching our first BASIUS Kickstarter project (now known as BASIUS ONE), thousands of gamers have used BASIUS to aid & develop their sculpting skills as well as customise & awesomify* their miniature collections. During this time we have had to move BASIUS out of the garage and into the Industrial Estate!  The BASIUS team has grown since then, and now includes the same family of four sculpting gamers that created BASIUS all those years ago and the family of experienced casters at History Craft.

7c89db50fe59a7baabcc059a8fc20fa6_origina

We now have ten complete collections of 12 themed 50mm square BASIUS pads prototyped. Some are favourites from previous Kickstarter projects, some have been altered and updated, and the rest are brand new. We need your help to fund their creation on an industrial scale!

COMMUNITY

Community is important - in gaming, just like in the rest of life.

We love gaming with our friends in our local geek-hobby store and we initially met many of our friends purely because of that community. Friendly gaming clubs and hobby stores that go out of their way to host gaming communities are awesome, and we want to help to increase that community awesomeness.

Kevin Jackson, from the online community, sent us this photo showing how he based his miniatures using BASIUS Kevin Jackson, from the online community, sent us this photo showing how he based his miniatures using BASIUS

It stands to reason that if a person wants to do something positive for others in life then it's best to do something they are actually good at, and feedback from all four of our previous BASIUS projects has shown us that we have become rather good at BASIUS-ing**.

OUR GOAL

With this focus of community being central to what BASIUS has become, our goal for this latest Kickstarter is quite a big one... Alongside the release of our 10 themed BASIUS collections, we want to provide every tabletop gaming club in the world with a special BASIUS COMMUNITY pad, so that all gamers can use it and help each other to use it, to develop their own and each other's sculpting.

WE NEED YOU

It would be awesome if every gamer & hobbyist reading this... in every town worldwide, could pledge to get hold of a pad or two in this kickstarter, make some bases with them, show their sculpting to their gaming club and ask their club chairperson to contact us to get a BASIUS COMMUNITY pad for their club.

Tyler, from the online community, kindly sent us this photo. These base textures are made using just BASIUS, 'Green-Stuff' and paint - thats it. Tyler, from the online community, kindly sent us this photo. These base textures are made using just BASIUS, 'Green-Stuff' and paint - thats it.

I'm very happy with my pads from the earlier projects, but I have enough of them, so I'm going to pass this time.

Probably.

Maybe.  :poke:

Bad timing! ::(:

Since I mostly paint to advanced tabletop, for most basing, I'm fine with either playground sand, or fine craft sand with ground cork. However, miniatures like indoor wild west and generic fantasy taverns don't work with sand, so I'm thinking Rotting Walkway would work. I guess the four base set is a good price when you consider shipping to the US. So I'm thinking three more bases. I have a wide variety of miniatures, and some do not have an integrated base. I figure these I'd use the base stamps first for. Suggestions appreciated! Also, if you have found interesting uses for the base pads, post!

BTW, Anyone know if or why this is a different creator than previous Basius KS? I've send them a PM asking this, so will post when I find out.

EDIT: Read the Basius 3 KS comments and updates. Looks like a company new to KS, although one with experience.

Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5
Dark Sword Miniatures New Range - Stephanie Law Masterworks
RAFM New Airship Pirate Miniatures  (Steampunk. Also, GURPS Steampunk) - The Stage?
Little Urban Achievers  (Modern day, inside, urban. Mini's based on the Big Lebowski)
RAFM Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Miniatures (Investigators and Monsters) - The Stage?

Warhammer 40K and Sedition Wars : Cork for outdoors, but interested in indoors.

Warhammer Quest: Halls of Tzeenth : May end up basing on pieces of turquoise from Michael's

I was actually looking to buy some more of their pads a few months ago, sadly none of these contain the treasure pile texture I was looking for

I picked up a few of these in the previous KS.  They are nice but I barely use what I have, making it difficult to justify purchasing more.

50mm moulds .. a bit too small for my Arcadia Quest project (65-70mm squares), a pity these are a lot smaller than the previous ones!

Are there any plays to add some forest grounds or tree trunks like models?

It might help to look at the threads for the previous Basius projects: quite a few recommendations there.

Based on your description, maybe Watchtower, a dungeon setting one like More Endless Halls, one from Industria, and a brick one from Renasence)?

My reading of the description is that the new company is the one that produced the previous project molds (and will produce the current ones) so the original creators are just going to be the lead designer with the new company handling actual production and distribution.

I'm looking at "The Stage", which looks like (finally) a nice, flat wooden plank surface.  I've already backed two other Basius campaigns so I have pretty much everything I want at this point.

They're a very nice product, heavy duty.  Takes a little bit of practice, but once you get used to it you will get insanely high quality impressions.  I highly recommend the Endless Halls and similar pads.

The ones with extremely fine detail can be tricky, it's difficult to prevent little bits of GS/ProCreate/Etc. from getting caught in the pad  I had some issues with my "Damaged Runes" pad with epoxy getting stuck in the lettering, and sometimes in the moss, even using a release agent.  Bit of a pain to get that out afterwards.  The flagstone-y ones are the easiest to use and work the best.

I would find it very helpful if they would indicate which ones are new, or at least new to the smaller purple format.

Interesting that this one hasn't gotten any updates.

Also, I looked over things in more detail. Nothing jumped out at me as needed compared to what I already have. I must have looked too quickly...

      About
"...Aulë made the dwarves strong to endure. Therefore they are stone-hard, stubborn, fast in friendship and in enmity, and they suffer toil and hunger and hurt of body more hardily than all other speaking peoples; and they live long, far beyond the span of Men, yet not forever."
      -J. R. R. Tolkien
Dwarves really are the best! While they're often a bit rough around the edges, they have the best accents, are insatiably loot-hungry, and will fight anything that moves—so we are going to make a bunch more of them!
We've assembled them into adventuring parties to make it easier for us to pack and ship. You can add an additional adventuring party to your base reward for $22. Additional individual dwarves can be added to your base reward for $5 each. For a slightly larger view of the minis, check them out on our blog. Here are the adventuring parties:
From Left to Right: Male Dwarven Brawler, Female Dwarven Bard, Male Dwarven Deathknight, Male Dwarven Druid, Female Dwarven Warrior
The League seeks out the ancient dwarven knowledge hidden deep within the lost caverns. They hope that, in time, civilized dwarves will once again inhabit those hallowed halls.
From Left to Right: Male Dwarven Rogue, Female Dwarven Sheildbreaker, Male Dwarven Battlerager, Male Dwarven Mage, Female Dwarven Archer
Hogg's Tavern is not the sort of place that anyone should visit . . . at least not anyone who values their life or health. Surprisingly, it has regulars. Its patrons are usually adventures past their prime or looking to make a name for themselves.
From Left to Right: Female Dwarven Mechanist, Male Dwarven Automaton, Male Dwarven Gunslinger, Female Dwarven Automage, Male Dwarven Investigator
Not everyone has embraced the "advances" made in the Steam Valley workshops. When the Savages descended on the valley, the Seigebreakers and their constructs helped turn the tide against the invading armies.
From Left to Right: Female Dwarven Vampire Hunter, Male Dwarven Undead Elite, Male Dwarven Necromancer, Female Dwarven Huntsman, Male Dwarven Warlord
The lands beyond Raven's Gate are shrouded in perpetual mists and haunted by the undead. Only the very brave or the very foolish venture there. Why not both?
From Left to Right: Female Dwarven Barbarian, Female Dwarven Berserker, Female Dwarven Wandsmith, Male Dwarven Fighter, Male Dwarven Barbarian
The Iron Hills are not an easy country to grow up in. There's bitter cold winters and orcish armies locked in perpetual combat. That's not even mentioning the greatwolves. No one ever mentions the greatwolves.
Every Stretch Goal we hit will add more dwarves (or dwarf-related miniature items/companions) to the Completionist Set. When we have enough of these for a new adventuring party, a new party will be formed. Here are our stretch goals:
At $7,500 the Female Dwarven Cleric will be unlocked and added to the Dwarves Vol. 2 Completionist Reward. She will also made available as a $5 add-on.
At $10,000 the Male Dwarven Buccaneer will be unlocked and added to the Dwaves Vol. 2 Completionist Reward. He will also be made available as a $5 add-on.
As we hit these stretch goals, more dwarves will be unleashed!

      About
Welcome to Monstrous Lexicon - Series 1 Kickstarter. This is a joint project between Bears Head Miniatures, Arcane Library and The Pickled Dragon.  The Monstrous Lexicon is a huge collection of original monsters as well as four new playable races for the 5th edition of the world's greatest role-playing game and this project is the start of a series to bring the creatures form the pages of the Lexicon to your gaming tables or collections. There are also some creatures and characters that are outside of the manual, but I think they compliment the range and will find a home in your games. The miniatures are 28mm scale.
The miniatures are traditionally sculpted by hand and will be cast in metal or resin, as detailed in their descriptions. Supplied unpainted with a plastic base as appropriate.
You can pick up a physical or digital copy of The Monstrous Lexicon from the links below, via Amazon or Drive Thru RPG.
       Amazon USA
       Amazon UK
       Drive Thru RPG (Digital copy)
The miniatures are sculpted and ready to be cast, this project is to fund the production cost. Chris at Macrocosm Miniatures is an experienced metal caster and the master casting will be complete before the campaign finishes, I will have metal casts to show you in an update. Then the production casting will commence after I've received the details of your pledges.
You can pledge by selecting one of the reward tiers given. If you require a selection of miniatures, then adjust your pledge total to reflect the total cost of the miniatures you want.
You will receive a unique coupon code equal to your pledge amount, roughly two weeks after the campaign finishes. I'll provide instructions on how to complete your order via Kickstarter messages and a link to my online store. You will also have the opportunity to add to your pledge from my existing ranges.
Postage starts at £2 in the UK and £4 rest of the World for 1-2 miniatures and a flat rate of £4 and £6 for 3+ miniatures. This is collected after the campaign finishes via the pledge manager.
The profits, after Kickstarter, casting and packaging fees are accounted for will be shared between Bears Head Miniatures and The Pickled Dragon.
The miniatures will eventually become part of my Bears Head Miniatures range, which includes a number of character sculpts, sci-fi  and fantasy themed miniatures..
Now lets have a look at the miniatures...
      Valravn £4
Valravn. Metal miniature £4. The Valravn is a fiendish blend of humanoid and Raven. Long skinny legs carry the creature in a hunched, upright position, while it's torso is covered in disheveled black feathers.
The Valraven is a demonic servant, which scours the mortal World in search of the mortally wounded or sick, to steal their souls back to its Masters nefarious needs.
Valravn is £4 and cast in White Metal.
        Pact Devil £4
Pact Devil. £4 cast in White Metal Pact Devil, painted example by John Morris. Lurking in the shadows, ever vigilant, a tall handsome man watches his mortal prey. It's victim is vulnerable due to Pride, greed, or desperation and Pact Devil offers an easy solution for a catastrophic price.
Pact Devil makes a great recurring character, maybe he helps your adventurers out and is keeping a close eye on his property, or maybe he needs the adventurers help in getting a contract signature from a particularly despicable Lord.
Pact Devil is £4 and cast in White Metal.
        Dwarf Druid £4
Dwarf Druid £4, cast in White Metal Happy Dwarf Druid £4, cast in White Metal. He's a happy soul our Dwarf Druid, always full of joy at the wonders of nature. He might just have a rare herb or two in his Grove, but he's also possibly the most annoying NPC your adventurers will ever meet.
Dwarf Druid is £4 and cast in White Metal.
        Dire Honey Badger £4
Dire Honey Badger £4, cast in White Metal Dire Honey Badger painted example Dire Honey Badger The Chuck Norris of the animal kingdom. No bigger or faster animal ever gives the honey badger crap. If they did, that animal wouldn't have the chance to regret it and this is the Dire version, so a very handy ally for any adventuring druids out there.
Dire Honey badger is £4 and cast in White Metal.

Some NSFW minis on the KS page, images not included here

KHÂRN-ÂGES is a medieval fantastic skirmish game in which you direct a Spearhead (name given to your miniatures team). These Spearheads are composed of anthropomorphic animals of 54mm (this is an indicative value, many species are larger).
The figures are sold unassembled and unpainted.
It's an ambitious project where you can choose from four different factions from the start. A rules book will detail all phases of the game, as well as equipment, spells and scenarios. A double-sided battle mat completes the game material.
You can discover the universe and follow most heroes in a novel already available in French (it's a good way to start learning!): Khârn-Ages T1: The Embrasement.
In KHÂRN-ÂGES, you can modulate your compositions without changing miniatures! Indeed a same figurine can correspond to several LEVELS of profiles, and you can equip it as you wish, you have the possibility to play it with different characteristics while changing its weapons and its equipment, or to have access to many different spells for magicians. KHÂRN-ÂGES is a scenario game, it is not about exterminating your opponent (even if it's feasible sometimes!), but fulfilling your goals to win.
KHÂRN-ÂGES is a game that only requires a few miniatures to play, so you will not have a huge budget to plan to get started and buy your 500 Krowns of heroes to build your first Spearhead: the cost of recruitment of each mini proposed in this campaign is indicated below each model, it can be modulated by the equipment that will be available in the rulebook.
This campaign offers you to acquire the figurines, the rules, the play mat to fully enjoy your fun experience from the start. The rules are easy to understand and very permissive, but the level of strategy is very high and will seduce the most demanding players. You can discover the fighting engine on our YOUTUBE channel (with English subtitles).
Last but not least, KHÂRN-ÂGES is a 100% French game, the entire project is developed in the north of France, 40 km separate the workshop of creation and production of our paper printer.
To date, after nearly 3 years of development, we are proud to present most of the miniatures that will be available during this campaign, the others are being modeled.
Rules and profile cards have been tested (by our team and a number of seasoned Briskars players). They are currently finalized and in the process of being formatted.

If we decide to go through a crowdfunding campaign, it's because this project can not succeed without you!
TGCM is a modest company but has always kept its commitments and has created a substantial community around its first game, Briskars. However, the costs of such an adventure are much higher than those that allowed us to launch our first game.
In addition to the design phase, the production and molding of figurines, there are many items related to the creation of a game.
Your contributions will allow the printing of books and profiles and equipment cards, the modeling, the production and packaging of minitures, the control of the production line in our workshop to guarantee you the best quality and the development (we hope you will reach these levels) of many game accessories.
The goal we are hoping to reach may seem important, but it reflects the reality of the costs and charges we face.
Achieving this goal will allow the birth of KHÂRN-ÂGES, not to end our days in the sun!
We are counting on you all to reach it and bring the world of Safar to life...

      Khârns
Proud and bellicose, they are the archetype of the warrior people, but they are far from having the same character. Their king gone crazy and paranoid after having tortured his people for too long is on the verge of being overthrown, the nobles are slipping into profit and debauchery at King-Khârns, the capital, and some, like Prince Baudry and his brave Paladins remain upright to the point of wanting to overthrow the established order.
However, all swear by blood and steel, the secular worship of this people. They have a brutal and organized fighting style, but are distinguished mainly by their diversity of profiles: from the heavy armors worn by paladins to the rapid attacks of the advanced vanguards, they have no real weaknesses except the valor of their fighters. They are the stability that a player preferring to fight back will particularly like.   Size 75mm / Base 50mm   Size 70mm / Base 40mm   Size 65mm / Base 50mm   Size 54mm / Base 50mm
