Talae
I acquired, by building, a playtest copy of Hyperspace (due out on Kickstarter later this year, picture taken before I made the map hexes) and a foamcore insert for Clans of Caledonia.
SGHawkins09
Decided to attempt the Massive Voodoo challenges for this year so I ordered the Emperor Penguins and Marie Fleur from Mr. Lee's Miniatures. I have a general plan for Marie Fleur but still brainstorming the penguins.

The first part is an expansion of some of the character races (and their opposite numbers, drow and duergar), and the rest is Monster Manual style entries for 5th edition stats for a bunch of critters. Not sure I approve of this. I thought it was okay to do Monster Manual volumes, but this and Xanathar's Guide are essentially mixed books, stuff that made the grade from the testing stage, all tossed into a book and made available. Seems like we could do better than this. Hubby's main complaint with the books is the organization. Aside from having mixing up book purposes, items and spells are only organized alphabetically.

They could have still done 2 books, one covering player races etc. and one on monsters. It'd make more sense from a reference standpoint. In other news, HERE'S a thing I never thought I'd see on sale again at a price I was willing to pay...

I think that may be part of the reason for doing it the way they are, though. I remember being told that with the way the Adventurer's League is set up you can only use the PHB and 1 other book in the creation of a character. It's to limit the ability to make OP characters that pick and choose through a ton of books to find the most exploitable combinations of stuff, as eventually things are going to slip through testing. Just look at Pathfinder, which has had to ban certain feat, traits, class archetypes, and, in at least one case, an entire class from PFS play due to their ability to disrupt the game. Granted, the class that was banned was reintroduced with a new variant in a different book, but they still banned an entire class. As far as I'm aware the other classes that got variants in that same book are still able to choose between either variant version and aren't just limited to the remade one. So far, I don't think that AL has had to make a specific allowed-not allowed list simply because of how the limitations are working. That said, it does make it a pain in the keister for having to lug around 40 books to a non-AL game. You practically need a duffel bag since WotC still doesn't sell PDFs of their 5e books.
Sanael
Wandering the local grocery in search of a glue stick, I found a display of Kinder Joy, the weird pseudo-pudding-cup replacement for Kinder Eggs we have here in the USA (I'm sure they're distributed elsewhere as well, and there are now Kinder Eggs available, but I digress)... The current batch includes a series for the new (terrible) Jurassic World movie, in which a buyer receives, along with the weird pudding cup thing, a tiny dinosaur which can split apart to reveal a tiny dinosaur skeleton. I thought this was cool, so I picked up three. Got a T-Rex, a velociraptor, and a dimorphodon. The two theropods are pretty nice from both a skeletal standpoint and a not-dead-yet standpoint. The dimorphodon is... disappointing as a fleshy creature, but the skeleton isn't bad. All three are roughly the same size, about the same as a normal human mini. Not a ton of detail, but they'll all pass for skeletal theropods on the table. Not bad at USD 1.50 each: undead dino miniatures, plus chocolate goo with crunchy bits in!

We've both made test characters and are thinking we like it. Welcome to 5E. Currently it is my preferred system. The comments above are dead on as applies to AL play. It doesn't bother me so much, but sometimes it would be nice to have everything in one place. Then again, since all the way back in 1st ed AD&D I have been lugging piles of books around so I'm somewhat inured to it now.

Still in the shrinkwrap. They also had a couple of starter decks and a few boosters for Decipher's old STTNG card game. WhiteWulfe
Work gave me a gift pack for our new logo and branding of our corporate overlords... Aka parent company. Despite it being the world's worst kept secret in the corporate world, I can't show half of what was in the bag since it isn't official until tomorrow... On the flipside though, I got a pack of cold brew mix, a tshirt, one of these new fangled we're doing it again "backpacks" that's a weird bag, a double walled plastic mug with the new logo (because the four I have with the old logo toootally get used :p (aka they don't)), and a coupon for a free twelve pack of Schweppes. Well, twelve pack of Crush, since I traded with one of the warehouse guys, and he gave me his cold brew thing My closet got more colourful, because the new tshirt is BLUE... And I say closet, because I'm probably never going to wear it... Edited July 9, 2018 by WhiteWulfe
