Reaper Order arrived today !

William Butler Yeats (in 1888) collaborated on a book of Irish legends, of the the Leprechaun he said:

“He is something of a dandy, and dresses in a red coat with seven rows of buttons, seven buttons on each row, and wears a cocked-hat.."

William Allingham in 1850 wrote a poem on Fairies   (not specifically Leprechauns)

We daren’t go a-hunting
For fear of little men;
Wee folk, good folk,
Trooping all together;
Green jacket, red cap,
And white owl’s feather!

Arlingham also wrote a poem about A leprechaun who hoarded gold  with the narrator catching him and demanding ransom, but did not mention any clothing colors.  It may be the first recorded version of the common tale.  His wife was a watercolor illustrator so there my have been pictures, but I could not find direct evidence.

I'm going with red of mine.  just to be contrary.

Birthday/Christmas gift...

20210318_182730.thumb.jpg.60cd384abdedafb3c58244d5085b4d69.jpg

is it me or did Wizards & GF9 borrow and upgrade Ultron for their Eberron campaign?

In any case, it's a construct so in the collection it goes.  Might even paint it similar to big U.

He has definitely morphed over time:

Not sure if you have an ultimate layout in mind, but my grandfather had a pretty extensive set back in the day that went around the entire perimeter of the room.  He built a big trestle bridge just inside the doorway that you had to duck under to get to the center of the room.  Being just a kid at the time, I didn't need to duck and I thought it was the coolest thing to just walk under.

You can also go vertical up the walls.

It has some expansion opportunities, but it’s mainly limited to that space (but includes the center).  The other half of that room is my gaming area, and includes the shelves I had made for my gaming stuff.  We thought about a helix to the lower level, but this is the first real layout past our 4x8 oval

Last of the packages came in, at least if we ignore the coffee (that'll be picked up in a bit).  It contains a few things...

  • AEther Studio Gunner Zaku Warrior Resin Conversion Kit
  • Murderous Spider walker MG ball of doom (aka Polypodball, or MG Ball with four legs)
  • DSPIAE Sanding Sponge Sets
  • DSPIAE 3.0 single bladed nippers (these things are TINY handles, why such tiny handles?!?!?!)
  • DSPIAE Tool handle and cutting bits (0.1mm, 0.2mm, and 0.3mm chisels, Carving Needle, and Triangular Carving Needle (last one is apparently a really good seam line remover by some reviews))
  • DSPIAE Aluminum Alloy sanding board (3pc large) & sandpaper (pack of 600 grit, 1000 grit, and 2500 grit)
  • DSPIAE 3mm and 6mm scribing tape
  • SIMP decals for shark mouth MG Ball Pod
  • SIMP caution decals, looks like grey?  These were a nice little bonus added into the box ^_^

Oh, and for those curious what's in the AEther box....

Spoiler

I love the idea of trains, but my actual forays into the hobby have been less than satisfactory.  Maybe I’ll have another go at a small layout after retirement. ::P:  I do owe the model railroad hobby for getting me started in miniatures, though; my first boxes of 1/72 scale Airfix soft plastic figures came from the same hobby shop that my father was frequenting for his trains and supplies. (Over 50 years ago, now...that shop is long gone, although Dad is still playing with trains and just had his 90th birthday a few weeks ago.)

Yesterday was a book acquisition day; I got this Neil Thomas book, so that I can see whether I would recommend it to people getting into my end of the miniatures hobby.

My daughter needed something off big river for her cosplay (which is starting to irate family members <_<)  so I tacked this model kit on to the order.

Revell '71 Plymouth GTX (Dom's version)

Adds to my never seen the movies Fast n Furious collection

Of course after I ordered she wanted something else.

I stopped off at the FLGS yesterday, to make sure they were still in business, and found the latest incarnation of Fate in hardcopy.  At $8 and a slender 64 pages, I couldn’t pass it up.  So, another book day; I need to do some painting before I feel too inspired to buy more minis. ::P:  I’ve had this in pdf for a while, btw, but I suspect that it is a sign of advancing age (or pandemic screen fatigue) that I have a hard time imagining actually playing an rpg from a pdf.

Time for more Warhammer Underworlds stuff!

This month it's an Ogre (with friends) and Lizard Dudes, (plus Fabulous Bill).

Also buying a new brand of plastic glue, I'm fed up of throwing away half-full bottles of Revel Contacta just because the little needle nozzle gets clogged.

Fabulous Bill!!

A bit of flame can clear out the clog. Take the needle OUT of bottle of highly flammable liquid first. Also, the brush-on applicator for the Tamiya plastic cement works wonders, if you're looking for an alternative.

Can't take the credit for that one, it seems to have been his internet nickname since forever.

I've heard that tip before, but I'm just way too nervous to go near any part of it with a naked flame!

I'm trying out the hobby stores own brand plastic glue (since their super glue is pretty good), but I'll give the Tamiya stuff a try if it's not a mucher.
