Cranky Dog
Today I received the most unexpected anonymous present. A gift box of craft hot mustard: Original; Pink Peppercorn; Old Fashioned Beer flavor. The text: "La Morin : the real mustard that goes up your nose!". Based on a French idiom about losing your temper is like the feeling you get up your nose with mustard/horseradish. And when I say anonymous present, I'm serious. Courier hand delivered it to me, with my name and address on the box from the producer. No idea who sent it, though I have a few ideas (thinking it's from my sister's family). But it's someone who knows of my new address and my preference for strong flavors, and that my birthday is coming soon. P.S. The sauerkraut in the back are mine that I prepared the day before. Thought the picture needed a bit more color. EDIT: Confirmed on Facebook that it's from my sister. The magic words of "huh, that Zaku II kind of looks like power armor from Fallout 4" effectively turned into about ten hours of researching, with two semi-solid ideas... - Zaku II Type C-6/R6 modified into Fallout T-60 power armor (the type you see on the game's cover) - Zaku 1 modified into an NCR Veteran Ranger from Fallout New Vegas, possibly using the Kotobukiya MSG Cloak kits to get "close enough to be called inspired by" so I don't have to fully scratch build the duster Hmmm, decisions decisions. That and not sure the cloak kit would readily fit a Zaku 1 frame, or give the desired look... So, uh, yeah. Ordered some parts for this idea. Got the following on the way.... Bandai High Grade Gundam: The Origin MS-05S Char Aznable's Zaku 1 Bandai High Grade Build Custom Giant Gatling Gun Gundam Base Limited System Weapon Kit 006 Kotobukiya M.S.G. Dress Up Parts Crash Cloak Kotobukiya M.S.G. Dress Up Parts Side Cloak Odds are I should probably look into acquiring some more styrene and maybe even brass parts too. Also ordered some more sandpaper (600, 1000, and 2500 grits), DSPIAE's AT-AS aluminum alloy scale ruler, a third AT-TH Tool Handle, and a HaqqIslam Mukthar (Hacker) for my Infinity force.

Jasper_the_2nd
I've been waiting for these for a while. I found out they were finally available in a Canada and ordered them about a month ago. Something went awry with the first order during transit, but they were good about resending AND refunded my shipping. These are low carb versions of the yummy cereals you remember from childhood. We tried the Cocoa first and they were very yummy! I expect I'll be ordering again.
Auberon
I went into the local Walmart today and investigated their craft paint section. Of course they carried Plaid, but it was all the 50¢ Apple Barrel stuff. I've never used it, but I've heard it is 50¢ for a reason so I checked out the next rack and found some DecoArt Americana. I've not used it either, but it was twice the price of Apple Barrel. On the idea that this might translate to higher quality I picked up a few bottles to try. Some actual artsy names: Cadmium Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Dioxazine Purple, Some craftsy names that look towards earthy/woody tones: Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Honey Brown, And a flourescent just to see how how bright it is: Thermal Green Also I picked up a pack of 3x4 bags to downsize some larger blister packs into.

haldir
Before I put the minis back in the box, I decided to take pics of just them for everyone who didn't get the Mega bundle this year. Notes: Sophie is the only metal offering this year (besides the new pokey tool) Paint rack fits inside a large blister pack. Brinewind Maiden has a right arm, just not shown.
BlazingTornado
Got some random minis today. A few Zombicide Black Plague heroes along with some zombies, some sahuagin-looking creatures, small sea serpents, crocodilefolk and an undead knight from SOMETHING by Privateer Press (the name is printed under the bases), a big freakish monster that has a clawed hand at the end of a tail, a monstrous quadruped lower body that's kneeling, a gaunt humanoid torso and head and some freaky Predator-style jaws, no idea where he's from but he's awesome, and last some dark gray minis of a dwarven mage, dwarven berserker, human swordsman, human rogue, half-orc rogue and chubby human spellcaster along with a very 5E-style kobold.

The Apple Barrel "White" in the larger bottle is part of the best way I've painted stone. It's not so good for direct mini painting, but base coat rocks with it and you can leopard spot over it to do rocks with bits of wash and/or thinned inks, then follow with a drybrush of an off white.
Skallabjorn
Took a gamble on these from Wildspire miniatures on Amazon. $30 for the heroes and animals (28 minis) and $28 for the townsfolk (29 minis). My thoughts? Heroes and animals is a good set. Decent detail, creative choices, casting quality is around Bones 3 to Bones 4 level. Towsfolk was a very good value for the number of minis, but (IMO) on par with Bones 1 or Bones 2 castings. Both are definitely in scale with Bones. The heroes as received. The animals. The townsfolk, as received, actual castings rather than renders. Upper right mini is female pirate captain from Bones 5 Brinewind boxed set inserted for scale. Po!!! More cowbell? No problem. Smaller than a minotaur, but larger than the Bones minitaurs. Maybe a miditaur? (technogeek bad pun) Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I wish the townsfolk had a slightly higher level of detail, but for the price, they are good (IMO). Link to more photos of the individual minis, as I am already putting a BUNCH of pictures in this post: https://photos.app.goo.gl/XQzoFJnjDNwA3ijv7 Edited August 12, 2021 by Skallabjorn
haldir
While my FLGS didn't have the new Unpainted Wave in yet, they did order a bunch of Death Tyrants (as I did place a order for one of those, or at least asked them to hold 1 for me). As I figured it might get "beholder-itis syndrom" in terms of availability, so I wanted one. (Took it out of the package at the store as I just threw it into my mini case to take home. The clear use of the eye & eye "stacks" is allot better then the prepainted clear aura option. It'll be a fun one to use (even if I have no use for it now). Also Big A order came in, Phrozen Aqua-Grey 4k resin & a 4 inch foam Games Plus tray. Figured get the one tray I knew I was gonna need for RCon trip. I just now need to get on the rest of the trays. Again, slightly higher price per foam tray, but orders get to me 1 or 2 days. I'll take the trade off.
