redambrosia
My tiny box of reapercon swag arrived today. At least I got the pen.
Werkrobotwerk
I ended up going to an auction last week. Sold off $350 of assorted hobby left overs. Bought $77 of stuff. an unreasonable number of gene stealer cultist sprues. An infinity kazak doctor An infinity heavy armor (the haqq one I forget his name) A partially misassembled warcaster starter with an extra squad An old metal Tyranid guard 3rd edition?
Cranky Dog
Finally got my RCon swag yesterday. I only went for the Swagbox and Brinewind Box this year instead of the full Megabundle. Only thing missing is the body of Hawthorne Krabbe, the puppeteer pirate. I have the poppets and his creepy three fingered right arm, but not the rest of him. (Reaper Help has been contacted with the details.) Edited August 20, 2021 by Cranky Dog

That reminds me I need to see how easy of a fix is for my broken D20 statue/figure is. I may do later today. 17 hours ago, strawhat said: Acquisitions! I broke down on Sunday and ordered a couple things from Game Envy! Standard Hobby Holder with the larger handle. I turned it "upside down" as that feels more natural to me. We'll see if it stays that way. I was pleased to note that the Holder fits well with caps from my preferred soda-type beverage. I might decide to get the ergonomic holder later after I see how this works. Kinda glad one of those was included in the Swag Box(es) from Reaper(Con) this year. It let me finally test one out. Eh, I'll probably toss mine in a future of Goodwill box as I prefer my Tamiya cans over it.
Gadgetman!
Todays haul is... Pretty heavy metal... At the front is Max Manus, in glorious 54mm prepaint. Next to his box is a Nicon Coolpix I rescued from a recycling bin.(even found the battery charger for it... ) Behind that is a Theodolite. And the metal transport container for it. And to the left of that is an old 'Total Station' (a theodolite with built-in computer) A pretty old one. The battery had a sticky note that seems to indicate it was last checked in 2000. Yeah, they were found in the same recycling bin as the camera. Another organisation in the same office builing is clearing out an old storage, and they're being pretty brutal about it. There were at least 4 of the Total Stations in the bin, and another, slightly newer Theodolite in there. There were a few prisms also, tossed into another bin but there was too much heavy rubbish on top so I couldn't snag any. I think they tossed some of the tripods also, but that doesn't really matter. I already have one of those... The Theodolite weighed 6.5Kg with the metal cap, the Total Station came in at 7.5K, add the camera, batteries, chargers and assorted cabling, and it was over 15Kg in total. I may keep the Theodolite in my livingroom after I clean it up...
SparrowMarie
Bought an under the cabinet light bar for my desk. I have a small overhang on the hutch part that it should fit nicely. Since we put up curtains it's been super dark. Hoping this helps.

Last time I used one was in 2009. Those suckers are heavy when you include all the extra gear that goes with them (tripod, carrying cases, levelling rod, etc.).

Standard 10 Rack (whatever they call it), with a large device holder (my tablets are 10" varieties) in back and red sides. This is a bit over-engineered, and is a fair pain to put together. I ended up breaking the tab off one of the side supports during the initial setup. I also ended up over-tightening a couple screws initially. Both issues addressed shortly after. Hopefully the glue will hold on the tab. Standard Hobby Holder with the larger handle. I turned it "upside down" as that feels more natural to me. We'll see if it stays that way. Wizard Rank 10 if I remember the wording they use. My only complaint with that design is the weird fiddlyness to get the top on and screwed into place.

So when I did the actual run I was a little surprised that I was having problems. I eventually decided that the best way to handle it was to work from one side to the other and not try to get everything lined up all at once. The side support went in and the first couple interior supports, then tightened the first couple screws enough to keep everything from shifting while still allowing enough room to slide in the next row of supports. Lather, rinse, repeat. Just gotta watch over-tightening those screws! I ended up taking out a Sharpie and coloring over the heads of the screws. If I were a little more ambitious, I'd figure out a better way to glue/fasten it all together (excepting the tablet stand, naturally). Maybe I'll try to find some bolts and nuts in black. That silver grates on me for some reason.

Wait, you mean the production ones don't come with a baggie of black plastic to cover up the bolt threads that stick up from the top?

No, there weren't any caps to go over the bolts. Maybe I just didn't get those, but it didn't look like there were any on the images on Game Envy's site. It's not like I don't have paint...I need a new bottle of Pure Black, anyway. 2
Jasper_the_2nd
Was off to Fredericton for a couple of days with my wife on vacation this week (we're sticking close to home, so it's just an hour or so away). Of course I had to visit the two main hobby stores there and picked up something from each. I found a box of Rebel Pathfinders in the 2nd shop, and in the first (conveniently located less than a block from the hotel, and across the street from where we ate supper) had something different I was looking for. Having just rewatched NGE, and then watched all the newer stuff for Evangelion, I'd just asked my FLGS if they could get in the kits, but everything seemed to be out of stock at the distributors. So when I found a Unit 01, I snatched it up. Looks like a fairly complex kit so I won't be doing it right away (I've only got around to doing one left on a standard Gundam so far) but it was very cool to find.

Yeah, the Evangelion ones are rather popular. The main reason why stock seems difficult for them is firstly that Bandai does things in batches, second the pandemic has seen an explosion in the amount of people doing various model kits, and third they're actually having some issues getting certain supplies in on time. Then of course add in some of the usual logistics problems everyone is having - it isn't uncommon for retailers to get their stock that was to be released on say August 23rd two months later.
