So now's a good time to order stuff from England?

Good...ish? That drop in the value of the pound is going to be offset to a degree by the generally higher cost of shipping anything anywhere these days. Still gonna be a bit spendy due to international shipping, but depending on what you want it might just be the difference between "definitely out of my range" and "Let me check my budget and check the couch for spare change"...

As of the time I posted this post, the US dollar and the pound were almost equal (1 pound = 1.08 US dollars, according to www.xe.com currency calculator), whereas in the recent past the pound was about equal to 1.5 US dollars. According to the currency calculator I used, the pound is currently equal to 1.47 Canadian dollars.

Yes.  While listed currency conversions are technically what the big banks get and not you (most, but not all, charge a small fee for currency conversion), the better the exchange rate the further your money goes.  Conversely it makes it more expensive for the other guy to import stuff, so the cost of Reaper minis in England will go up.

To use Jack's numbers, if you were to load up your cart with £100 worth of minis (generally enough to get free shipping) it would currently cost $108.  Pre Brexit the same £100 would have cost $150.

So, I did a bad. Okay, not a real bad. I happened to have some extra money and the craft store was right there, so I thought I would just check for a few things. And I found several things I'd been looking for. On sale. I picked up some off brand Micron pens, some brushes that might work for minis, and some acrylic craft paint to use on Bones terrain. I didn't spend too much.

Cool.

I'm Canadian-based but I'm guessing the price difference will still apply.

Alternative Armies JUST got some old Asgard molds in including a really neat looking Death Demon so.....

I had the day off so I made the trip to Hobby Lobby to stock up on a few items. The initial plan had been to pick up a tamiya clear to try out, but all the local store stocked were the gundam colors.  So bust there. I did pick up a few other things though.

Krylon rattle cans - primer, gloss, and matte for the terrain I'm working on.

Craft paints - three shade of terracotta for upcoming D&L tile roof painting.

Testors contour putty - to try as I've never used it.  Success or failure will depend on how workable it is after drying.

Classroom round brush set - I wanted cheap brushes that I could beat up painting terrain.  40% off made them 32¢ each, for an assortment of 6, 8, 10, and 12.

I think HL is phasing out their Tamiya stock with other brands (most notably Mr Hobby) & such.

Testor's Putty: IIRC, not very good. It'll shrink when it's dry. I always look for other options when needing putty. Vallejo's in the tube is pretty good.

Dad requested an angel mini for his sister as she's undergoing cancer treatment (outlook so far seems positive, thankfully!), and I showed him the easiest options to get and he asked for one from RAFM, so I placed an order at RAFM. XD

Aside from the angel I got me a lich with a summoned frog-demon and a bunch of Call of Cthulhu stuff: Deep ones, ghouls, serpentfolk as well as Yig and Tsathoggua.

EDIT: Man I lucked out because since I placed my order just two weeks ago they fully revamped the site AND raised all their prices.

I only saw one Mr Hobby item.  It was almost all VMC and Testors enamel.

I have a Vallejo tube putty (not sure if they have more than one type) but it reactivates if it gets wet again. I can handle a bit of shrinking if the Testors otherwise behaves.

Adulting purchases! So after finding out last week, I was down to 1 pair of jeans, I ordered a couple more from mart-Wal, along with item I finally pulled the trigger on a vacuum I've had in my cart forever it seemed.

It'll be nice not to use a machine that has a severe rattle in the roller/head when vacuuming now!

Gunpla *and* Super Corgi Butts (it's still weird to know it's a thing).

I see you're a man of culture.

When I saw Shokunin was carrying them I so had to order a few.  They'll see Iridescent and pearlescent paints eventually ^_^

I don't quite remember the whole story but they have two shop corgis at DSPIAE.

Got a package from the UK on Wednesday.  Sadly this is the first chance I've had to look at it, and this is just a peek, since I'm supposed to be on the road within the hour.

Oathsworn uses my favorite packaging.  Love those boxes.

Super well packed, like always, and even better organized.  They even include a checklist of everything.

And just a sample, the bunny maid from the townsfolk set.  Ignore the Kubelwagen in the background, my desk is a bit cluttered.....

As always Statuesque delivers a fantastic product. One of two remaining physical KS I do these days, Reaper is the other. I also added a crow that was released outside of the KS, he has done.
