Ran out this afternoon and picked up a few things.

Sadly the most expensive thing in the picture is not the mega paint set, but those two plastic knobs.  Those are the fan and heat control knobs for an RX-8, and are stupidly expensive for no particular reason (other than the car is 20 years old).

So yeah, 2 plastic knobs, $250.....  but having used 3D bits and the like for the last couple of years (they broke 5+ years ago, the back as hollow and the shafts that go around the D rods were too thin so break over time) I decided to spoil myself.

That said I plan to 3D scan them, and take every measurement possible as well, because if the new ones break (at least it looks like the plastic shafts look a bit thicker) I'm going with other alternatives.

The other things in the pics are the Army Painter Speedpaint Mega Set 2.0, and Clone Commander Cody, who also comes with Wax and Boil (I think). That box will just go in my Clone box, since I still haven't painted all my Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper units.

Not pictured, I bought a 4 foot 3/4" dowel to finish up the dowels needed for the heavy blaster I'm building, and a 2x4' sheet of 1/8" birch that I'm going to use for bases for some artillery and the like for Bolt Action.

Nice on the Speedpaint 2.0. I do believe my pre-order has shipped or will ship from Gnomish Bazaar here in a couple of days. Shipping is done by when you preordered. I don't mind the wait, thou I have told myself getting this set, tells me that my ReaperCon games painting season is alive & kicking.

I did get my $55 dollar pledge level for Shadowdark RPG Kickstarter this evening. Looking forward to downloading the pdfs & reading through it. This will be my Weds night alt gaming night for the month once the "Adventure League" adventure series we are running concludes. I figured give my players a bit of some old school gaming but still modern enough alternative.

Raided Michael's, and somehow came out with less than $100 CAD in schtuff...

I wanted plaques for bases for a few things as well as to pick up some Strathmore 400 paper, and wound up bringing home a few more things than originally planned...  Didn't plan on the blocks, Mod Podge, Tacky Glue, or Das Clay, but figured they'd all be rather handy, doubly so the Tacky Glue since I've been out for like two and a half years, and wood glue just doesn't cut it!  Blocks are for the two busts I've printed so far (totally forgot I've been meaning to print a third one, but that's life).

I was originally looking at 9x12 books for the watercolor and Mixed Media paper, but decided screw it, we'll go one size up and use them to break in the drafting table that I'm hoping to get fully built and set up this weekend.

Why the Mod Podge and Das clay?  Much easier to sculpt up a base that will have a water feature within it with such, doubly so the whole making it look more natural and all that!  The 6x8" Mixed Media books were because of that two for one sale that was going on at Michael's, but also because I wanted one to take with me to work, and I also wanted to try out the black paper too.

Small order from GB, mainly wanted Scrub & the  Deep Gnomes, but then realized I could use the others as well.

Also, my mom gave me my birthday gift earlier today as I probably won't see her on the 2nd next month. She said she'd pay half of my balance on my new phone.

Nice way to end the month.

I've started getting into printing Star Wars helmets and armor and weapons a bit, so I added the Galactic Armory on Patreon today.  Since I also got my annual bonus today, and it was fairly decent, I splurged and got the full year tier (I already knew I liked his stuff, I'm in the middle of printing his Heavy Mando/Paz Vizsla files) which gets me 2 free months over doing it monthly, and also gives access to his FULL catalog of files!  As it also gives you permission to sell prints, I've at least put that out to the local Mando group in case anyone wants something.  Not really looking to do it as a business or anything, at least until I get another big printer (silly Elegoo selling out of the the Neptune 3D Max while I was at physio the other day....I was planning to order one right after.....) but if I can help out the local community, that's cool.

How do you (and others) like these in comparison to other "SpeedPaint" type options?

I've only used AP & Contrast from GW, but I really like em.  If not for the Speedpaints from last year,  I wouldn't have finished my minis for my ReaperCon games last year.

About the only color I'm disappointed in are reds. Just not as vibrant as I thought they'd be (& this can be said for GW ones as well) .  Also, I never suffered the reactivate property these are supposed to have either.  They work great on all primer brands

Looking forward to the new colors,  & especially the metallics.
