Hey, I felt fine until he hurled. Sort of a chain reaction thing.

Sounds like a clear case of self defense then.

Your 3 and 8 year olds are welcome at the show and will not be charged any admission, provided proper supervision. Many attendees have precious and important models, lamps, tools, and personal items visible on their work areas, and we want no incidents involving tiny hands and damages or thefts (even the accidental "I picked it up because it was pretty" kind).

Can kiddos without badges (10 and under ) enter something in the painting competition? Both of my girls want to enter something, but will not be participating in any other Con events.

Yes. There is a youth division. That is what my 6 year old did last year with her Nethy.

I thought so! My daughter entered last year, too, but I couldn't remember if she had a badge or not. Thanks! Also, your daughter was awesome in my "Painting with Kids" class last year :)

Thanks.  She learned a lot (stuff I tried to tell her but she would not listen) and has tried to put those things she learned to use in the minis she has painted since.  The first one she did after we left RCon was the pumpkin knight we got from the vendor stamp card.  Her first metal mini and she did awesome with it.

So, I'm working on the Reapercon 2017 Sophie. I want to paint her to competition level, or at least to the best of my ability. I've already decided several things about her color scheme.

Her dragon mate is going to be a gold dragon. This is to emphasize my primary choice for her wings and clothes, purple. Her skin is going to be utilizing the golden skin triad. The ground is going to be a red brick, going with the brick carved for it.

So, here's this far. At this point, I'm blocking in primary colors for the base, since Sophie blocks several parts of the base once she's added.

Advice as I go along would be appreciated. I'm going to try to update this with each step. Colors used:
-09074 Palomino Gold to basecoat the dragon
-09401 Dragon Red to basecoat the ground

Hey, @ub3r_n3rd, here's the figure that I managed to finish. The top clear coat makes it a bit shiny, but I've got it under harsh lights.

With the very zoomed in picture I'm not exactly happy with the shading on the right hand side where it transitions from light to dark in the middle fold, but that was vexing me for a long time. It's the way I want it to look, but I'm not sure everybody's eye will interpret the shape that I wanted to illustrate. There's also a woodgrain painted on the bow, but it is very subtle and doesn't look to show up here. I guess that should have been something a bit more stark.

Really feel that she's missing an arrow in her hand, since she seems to want to be nocking an arrow, but there's nothing there. Need to work on my eyes for the next figure, but that's a common refrain.
