Moderator Froggy the Great Posted September 17, 2004 Moderator Share Posted September 17, 2004 doppelganger: a slender, almost-featureless, skulking figure. These would almost work. I'd been thinking those would work, yeah.
Warlocke
I desperately want a mini of THIS! I don't know if many people would have a use for them, but in my campaign the majority of the dark elves (Not Drow ) wield asian weapons and dress in japanese clothing. So a few male and female elves in kimonos would be neat. Ooh, a mounted elf wielding a nagamaki... I am confident that Reaper could make thousands if they'd sell the Li'l Reaper from the familiar pack in blisters of 4-10; maybe with different weapons like, oh I don't know, a scythe! Armies of little reapers!
marmar63
And merfolk can always use a hippocampus or two! After all they need mounts to ride too! a man with a fishtail riding a horse with a fishtail... I guess it'd work. Hard to imagine a man wanting to ride side-saddle, though. ;)
pae
She's a figurehead. I think she'll be done for the Razig faction in Warlord eventually. Of course, I'm probably wrong.
claymoore
I desperately want a mini of THIS! Alliance has the Dark Maiden listed as 14106. If I remember correctly Chaz Elliot is doing the sculpt.

Well, since we're going that way, I'd love to see some wood or wild elves dressed and kitted out like the Emishi (Ainu). Doubt I'd ever see that, though... Damon. Qwyksilver
Heh, if it keeps up, I'm expecting LT to leave a horse's head and a dead fish in a Reaper Sculpting Peep's bed a la Godfather, to get her Hippocampi. Well, considering how much she loves horses, maybe the head would come from an old Merry-Go-Round, but the point would be the same.
Lady Tam
That's a good idea! And my mom's half of the family is Italian..... LT
CripDyke
I also believe strongly in eastern-flavor elves. Yay for elven samurai!! I mean, who else would have taken the time to invent a forging technique that requires painstakingly folding the ingot-that-may-someday-be-a-blade for several months before you even START shaping it into a sword??? Sounds like the meticulous, patient elves to me!!! And, also... Yay for elves wearing silk! (Who else would have been the first to coax the little worms to live in happy harmony churning out beautiful silk for them?? Okay, yeah, maybe the dwarves since they don't have the aversion to worms that other races often do, but other than dwarves, it's gotta be Elves before Humans, don't you think??) FirstLevelFighter
Magnificent Egos miniatures makes some of these kinds of things, but they have rather high prices. Thanks, Ech'Estar, those were sweet! I didn't think the prices were too bad, somewhat comparable to current Reaper figs. My personal favorite was the invisible servant, if the mini lives up to the sketch. These would almost work. Flynn, I thought about those myself, and you might be right. It would take some additional sculpting, but the dollies would be a good place to start. I've never really done much sculpting, outside of some minor work to do a few conversions. I have an idea I'm planning to try. My DM has mentioned a figure like this, but whether he's planning some fun and games with a doppelganger, I have no idea. I'd like to try and sculpt a pair of the creepy buggers. One featureless, natural(?) 'ganger, and one in the midst of a change. Starting with one arm and one leg, adding finished details like a sleeve and a glove or a boot, and gradually blending it with a more featureless (less featured? whatever) natural form. I may have to go with bits of finished figures for the changes, but I think the lack of features on the rest of the figure will be an asset. Like I said, I've never done any sculpting before, so wish me luck.
Lady Tam
Do you know what hasn't been asked for in along time? No, not a Hippocapmus! (But I worked it in anyway! ) But more skoli figs. We haven't had a good rousing request for skoli figs or skoli information in a long time. SO here it is! MORE SKOLI FIGS! And some cool elves in soft flowing clothes would be kind of neat too. Maybe even some single Kobold heroes and characters. Sort of like Deekin the kobold bard, trained by a white dragon, on Neverwinter Nights.
