As I have a couple Grenadier dwarves on my painting desk now, I have to say well done!

As for the OSL, I've found two things that work best for me:

1) the lighted areas have to be lighter in color than the base coat.

2) Glaze the appropriate color from the lighting source over the lighted area.

Having the start yellow-orange of the fireball would work better if the overall scene were darker.  Fire doesn't impart a strong yellow-orange color on stuff when it's light outside.

But since my OSL attempts can be counted on one hand, I might not be the best to offer advice.

Still, I love those Grenadier dwarves, so I'm hopeful he can overcome his magic-wielding adversary.  Love the icicles.

Thank you about the icicles, I just wish they hang a bit more straight down.. but they were such a hasle to control!

Yes, I think youre right, I should have made the hole scene Darker.

I am sure he will overcome the magic trick, He is mad after all!! :0)

I really like the whole piece..  putting stories like this is not something I've tried and always appreciate the imagination the goes into their creation.

love the basing, snow and icicles and wizard and dwarf combat poses sell the duel

Thank you!

I almost find it "hard" to make single figures, I always imagine them in some kind of duel/situation..my imagination just runs away :-)

Therefor I love minis in dynamic poses.

I am planning on running a Savage Worlds Tyrnador campaign.  The campaign steals heavily from the new Pathfinder Savage World ruleset.

My son created a hallfing commander and he chose the halfling with the torch from the Dungeon Dwellers set as his character.  I modified the mini by adding a banner (after watching several tutorial videos).  He selected a green 4-leaf clover on an orange background for the banner.  Was a fun little project with some neat freehand.

His friend created a dwarf ranger/smith as his character and choose the Stonehaven Mechanist (SKU 2795) to represent him:

And a third NPC - his day job is boatswain, so I wanted the armor to not be full plate.... he's currently helping the party do a fetch quest for the captain. I'm pretty satisfied with what I got out for what I put in - but I do notice I seem to have forgotten his eyebrows!

I purchased a pair of the Bones 5 The Dwarf King's Crypt Encounter set as I wanted pairs of a number of the set's scenery items, as well as double the number of the Dwarf Zombies and Dwarf Fighters.
One of the scenery items from the set that I was most looking forward to having a pair of, was the tomb; as I wanted to convert one to be the tombs to be for a Dwarf Queen, to go along with the Dwarf King's tomb.
First thing I would need was a suitable Bones Female Dwarf figure to use as the tomb cover's carving; as I did not trust my ability to sculpt one from scratch.   I was not sure what figure to use, as so many of the ones I had, or looked at in the online store, were posed somewhat dynamically.  Then, as fate would have it, I came across one of the Gwyddis, Dwarf Valkyrie figures, and realized it was perfect.

While I was doing the conversion, I also took the time to drill and magnetize the lid of the tomb, so it will stay in place during storage and transport.

For step by step post on how I did the convserion, please see my blog: http://allbonesabout.blogspot.com/2021/10/dwarf-queen-and-king-crypts-bones-5.html

I'm really pleased with how it turned out, and looking forward to painting it up.

Inspired by others 'project threads' - and with a return to face-to-face gaming on the horizon - I thought I'd start my own thread of minis I'm painting for WOTC's Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden (D&D 5e).

If nothing else this will help to keep me focused on the relevant bits of my unpainted pile, despite all the Bones V calling out to me 🙂

Feedback welcome - with the caveat that I'm an average painter at best, and aiming for table use not display!

Anyone planning on playing this campaign might not want to read further; the minis will inevitably spoil some of the encounters.

To start off, I've lined up the following:

      Grimtalon the Roc (Reaper 77946)
Frost Giant Skeleton (Gale Force 9 71127)
Kings of War: Northern Alliance Clansmen (Mantic Games MGKWL301)
      Frost Shaman Boudi (Hasselfree HFH187)
      Frost Mage Matthias (Hasselfree HFH199)
      Semira Marise (Hasselfree HFX023)
      Polar Bear (WizKids DeepCuts WZK73727-W9)

Hoping to get cracking this weekend. There's also a dragon on the way, and maybe a few others...
